is elenin on a perfectly level orbit with earth, or a tilted orbit? If the orbit is tilted off of our orbital plane, then there hasn't been any alignments with earth and the sun, nor will there be. Just because they align on a 2d overhead map doesnt mean they are aligned in 3d space.

Planets lie in whats called the ecliptic, comets emerge out of an entirely sperical cloud called the oort cloud. Even if there was total alignment, the gravitational effects of a comet are nearly zero. They are tiny, tiny, tiny, and far, far, away. Elenin will get close to us soon... 21, 700,000 miles. That is close in astronomical terms, but still way too far to matter.

Elenin-Earth-Sun alignment is 12/26/12 not 12/21/12 but close enough as a window for effects. Alignment effects are likely related to James McCanney's "Plasma Discharge Comet Theory." @SeeAroundCorners ...when the sun is active it causes change in weather patterns...here in Australia we tend to get more rain and cyclones during periods of increased solar activity.... and drought when the sun is "quiet".... Im not quite convinced that ELENIN is just a comet....usually a comet would not cause the kind of weather effects that we see with ELENINS alignments........ if it is a comet, then yes it is possible that it will increase in size as it gets closer to our sun...xx
