  • also i think these arent 12hp, well over 20.

  • it might be 12hp, but when you consider weight to power ratio its fucking fast.

  • Im 13 do you think i could get into raceing

  • Mario Kart =)

  • are they driving minimax or junior max

  • 12hp? That's weak...

  • The one thing that i notice after racing kart for 11 years, is that you cant expect to just buy a shifter kart or rotax and be able to run fast right away. They really are powerful machines, i'm not trying to discourage anyone, but if you've never driven a kart before and you buy a $6,000 rotax, your not going to be able to handle it, theres just too much power. I would suggest getting something like a yamaha kt100 or even a 4-cycle and work your way up.

  • how long and wide are the full size karts i need to know asap thank you

  • @MrBurnTec An average kart width is about 50-55inches

  • how long and wide are the full size karts i need to know asap thank you

  • Them karts aren't 12HP they're 28

  • Good vid.... To the comment on the bumping I typically give a little tap initially,if you seem to ignore my friendly gesture of "get the hell outta my way I'm faster than you" then you get the big bump to the inside I go and the walls your next stop that's in extreme cases I prefer a clean run.. So do me a favor moooove ooover!

  • I really want to get into racing but im not sure i can afford it or its in my area this amazes me though

  • I sit here wishing my father got me into karting; I think I'd be good at it. Now I'm forcing my son to do karting, live out MY dream ;)

  • Who would disliked this video?

  • @DLD14kMtB first go to your local club and ask about a arrive and drive series. If they have one taen get started in that. I wouldn't recommend buying a kart right away cause there about $7,000 if u do want to get into it and get more pro at it buy a used kart. My club brings in the karts from the grand finals. For a motor I recommend rotax because it's a very reliable motor but if your club dosent use it then u will have to go with what your club runs. I hope this helped a bit

  • the mentality is tranfering, trust me i know haha

  • Hey, I want to get into karting. I'm on the CRG factory website and am trying figure out how to buy the right kart for me. I'm 13. Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated. I've always loved cars and racing and recently found out that a lot of drivers got into racing through karting. So, then I decided that if I really want to get into racing, I should buy a kart and get started! So any buying tips and advice on leagues and events or anything having to do with karting feel free to share!

  • @DLD14kMtB did you get started in karting yet? We're involved and it's awesome!

  • Rotax engines have at least 26~28hp

  • that was a sick car at :18

  • oops i meant 0:45

  • Jamaican flag at :0:49 for the win

  • Looking back at this video, I can't believe I didn't comment on the sound of those karts. Considering what they are, they sound fantastic.

  • great production value

  • Leo is so much better when he isn't reading from the teleprompter.

  • Anyone know any karting places in SoCal?

  • @Austinm858 CalSpeed in Fontana (in Auto Club Speedway parking lot) = excellent facility. Also, Adams Motorports Park in Riverside.

  • Comment removed

  • Leo Paterente should be the guy in the XX beer commercial & get the tittle as "the most interesting man in the world"

  • @mellowdalyricist "I don't always drink beer. But, when I do, it's.....often after MattFarah offers me (and I decline) a hit of his allegedly legal weed!"

Nonetheless, extremely flattered by what you think my life is like. But, I DO bowl overhand.......

  • guys i love all the out of the studio stuff ur doing GREAT STUFF keep it up :D

  • Leo needs his own 30 min show. Do et FLD

  • Leo should be doing more than just shakedown. He's too good at what he does to be restricted to only 6minute videos a week.

  • enter MYPRIZE rather then YOU in youtube then hit enter

  • awesome video!

  • Rotax max motors make 28 HP, they look like Jr motors to me, but even then those make 20 hp. if its not a Jr motor then I guess it could be a mini max motor, but I don't know why you would put a motor that is meant to be for 10 year olds on a full size chassis. real karts that you would actually race, would probably feel like a Mazda star car, in terms of acceleration a cornering G's

  • @seroyer2 where I'm from, we put Mini-Max Drivers on Full size chassis'

  • @101JuventusFan I guess, I've never see that up in the northwest, but our karting community is small up here. our 15hp classes are world formula karts.

  • Racing Go kart's is the closest thing to freedom

  • German Police-Sticker and the Jamaican flag on your Suit?! :D Why is that?

  • more episodes like this one

  • Great stuff, Loved this episode!!!

  • Great episode. When I was last racing karts back in the mid-90s the benchmark for performance was 0 - 100 mph - 0 in 5 seconds or 400 feet, whichever came first. That was with a 125cc GP motor (45hp), but the single speed reed valve and piston port motors running a wet clutch or direct drive were not far off, and were sometimes faster.

  • Nice Video!!! thanks a lot!

  • i love karting, i hardly ever go, since a) theres no place around me, b) i dont own a kart, but i go to places like the little six flags place, or this little indoor track, were sure there underpowered, and everyone else doesnt know how to kart usually, but its so much fun and i love the challange... ive always wanted to kart and still do but im starting to get old for it :(

  • Great episode, a bit different then normal, and thats a great thing, glad to see, your trying to dig deeper into to things ^^

  • I kick ass in Forza 3 I therefore must be a good racer! look out F1!

  • I beg to differ with how to get in racing, iRacing is better to get in, it is less expensive than karting and if you get the right materials, it is almost like karting and......you can win money unlike iRacing. But hey, I who am I to say? I'm a 2 Time KRA Champ!

  • @GTAracer24 Ok. Love the racer's ego. How big do they make helmets these days! Ha.

There ARE a number of ways to get into racing. Lucky for us we NEVER said karting is the only or best way.

  • @LeoParente exactly, I think there is a good dozen ways to get into racing, but as I said maybe iRacing and karting top the charts in ways to get in to racing, both are great. Also, thanks for responding to my comment.

  • @GTAracer24 I got a go kart place in my town. It's an indoor track. I am not sure if it's just for fun or you can join something to race. I am looking into stock car racing. I don't know anything about how to even get a car and what to do. Any advice? Thank you friend :)

  • I don't care if karting gets me anywhere, it just looks plain fun.

  • where can you get race in toronto cuz in the shitty 6 hp go karts i rape and i want to go faster and get noticed

  • These are Rotax Engine and they are 28.5hp not 12

  • These are Rotax Engines are they are 28.5hp not 12

  • finally a good show minus JF

  • Wonderful. That just brought back a dream of mine to build a kart... and i think this episode just got that extra thing in me that made me decide: This summer i'm going to do build it !!!!!

  • fld moving on to bigger and better things

  • you know i really want this but every time i never have the money and whenever i do have the money to do lessons my mum just wont let me...:( i want it so badly i took mechanical engineering in automotive in uni of southampton hoping i could follow adrian newey's footsteps....

  • Great Show!

  • Shout out to JF for flying my flag, Jamaica flag swag bitches.

  • Great episode. Can we see a head-to-head between the FL crew? JF, Alex, Leo, even DD, the camera crew, who's the best driver?

Things I really want to know about getting into racing.. I have no idea how to start even in amateur racing. What does it cost, do you have to take a test, what are the risks? I'd be worried about taking someone else out, how aggressive does it get? How easy is it for someone who has never driven fast to get in a cart and go?

  • Leo for President!

  • i have Great Respect for FLD, that was a great episode, thanks Leo and JF and Dereck D you do a great job as well. you guys are goin to be big. All the way from Zimbabwe

  • if you guys at FLD (the producers) are reading any of these comments, then you should be getting the picture that Leo could swing his very own show. Let him fill the episodes with whatever he thinks is valuable for us to know. I trust jim, i think he has a solid grasp of what his viewers want. Leo you really could swing 5 days a week and get the views. If you wanted to. BTW JF did a good job in this episode too, he wasn't a douche

  • This segment has the potential to turn into something bigger than YouTube. Keep up the great work guys!

  • Leo should appear in every episode!

  • "I think this is more of a mental game than a skill game."

Leo is full of wisdom. He needs more action at FLD.

  • @pjkf01 Full of wisdom? Anyone in racing will tell you the same thing.

  • Awesome show. Going karting next weekend as part of our biannual car meet. We haven't been able to the past two meets due to weather, but we do a 32man race with 8 karts and bracket the racers. Its a ton of fun.

  • thumbs up for the jamaica flag on leo's racing suit

  • Great show guys

  • Gotta love the transcribe audio closed captioning

'the way people become professional racism'

'then I noticed that her skirt the putting us fourteen thousand jews'

'grab traction the reality of racism are stable platform'

  • Wow, maybe one of the best videos you guys have ever done. Great job Leo!!

  • wow. that was the best thursday show i've seen in a while. what other showes like this are you thinking of doing? i hope to see JF Musial and Leo Parente in more How to videos. :)

  • great episode, but what do you guys think of hpde days and local time attacks on go kart tracks? its affordable, and while not "racing", its the thrill/skill without the huge cost.

  • You have to start young, and good luck having parents that know about F1 and CARTING @ the age of 9 with time/Money...And good luck being child that knows the exact same at 9. In America, that's especially difficult knowing the sport culture.

If you don't/didn't have that, don't dream on becoming a F1 star. However you can still have fun tho whipping the mid age crisis locals and pretending are an F1 prospect!

  • Comment removed

  • I think FLD should make a episode of the biography of everyone and how it all started. Really, cause I'm really interested at the point where how you guys are doing totally better than any other car shows out there.

  • Anyone thinking about getting in to karting should google "Autoblog Introduction to Karting" they did a seven part series 1.5 years ago. It goes in to things like buying the kart, and actually getting started.

  • excellent episode thumbs way up (Y)

  • Amzing with the camera

  • Excelent Episode make more like these once in a while!

  • Leo Parente is the greatest asset to FLD

  • It's too bad you guys did this on a wet day. Cover a Kart event this year, Leo? Maybe the nationals in Hamilton?

  • Hey im a 14 year old freshman in highschool and i wanted to know what i could do now to set myself up for a racing career??? ADVICE PLEASE

  • @ajfreshkid

Did you watch the video or are you retarded?

Find a local competitive gokart track near you and if you get impressive laptimes, you might get spotted by sponsors or someone local there that has connections.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 thanks asshole

  • Karting is the best thing that's ever happened to me. The community, the competition, the adrenaline. Thanks for exposing this wonderful sport to the world.

  • Out of all the idiots in america with their infernal flagwaving and big words, Leo is a pro with credibility.

  • You two are better together. Than you know who... He doesn't show you respect.

DD is funny but changing things up is a win.

But don't change Fridays it's still the best. If Leo had titts I'd kiss him on the mouth.

  • Awesome episode. Next racing episode needs to involve bigger and faster cars on the track.

  • lol i started out street dirfting my parents mustang

  • JF stick to these kinda videos mate suits ur style. good one

  • @roctuning sorry voted down your comment meant to vote it up

  • Good Episode Thumbs Up

  • GREAT EPISODE. loved the change from the regular wednesday routine. i think more people need to know how to get into a sport they love, beacuse lets face it, you cant just go up to shumacher (spelling?) and ask him, so how do i begin racing??

  • EVO FTW!

  • damn, and getting Monticello sports club to yourself for sometime must have broke the bank!

  • words that stand out.

"you can practice practice practice, but aslong as your practicing the bad technique youl only become a accomplished bad driver."

  • Well Presented ep guys, congrats for doing something we all want to know...

  • So, is 23 too late to get into racing?

  • JF is actually a cool guy when he's not sucking alex's cock all day long

  • I loved it, would be nice if you could add some links where we could get more information if we want to get into karting. I'm sure I speak for many out there, we love the watching the sport of racing, but getting into it would be a dream come true. So drown us with info and links haha.

  • this was such a sweet episode!

  • I've been go karting a few times but it was never competitive so I always found myself trying to drift the thing

  • You want to get into karting? Google search for local clubs in your area, go to a couple races, meet the guys, we love talking about this shit. And your guaranteed to find some good deals on used karts. For under $2000 you could potentially be out on the track having some great fun on the weekends. And you'll be surprised by local talent. Check my vids for some helmet cam action.

  • I have that same kart! 125FR Max:)

  • great show. information was spot on.

  • Congratulations, nice info. The man interviewed was pretty clever.

  • no, you CAN blame the sims :L

  • I watch FLD because i want some daily car news, i dont wana watch two wana-bes talk about there failed racing careers

  • People, if u like the videos then press that damn Like button. FLD needs our support!

    Come on!

  • great episode guys

  • I think it is actually a mix of Carting attitude and sim racers attitude becaseu if its one thing sim racers do> Its racing like its BTCC but 10 times more unsportsmanlike

  • I have to admit, If i had known about karting at a young age and had to access to it, I would probably be a race car driver by now. Great Episode.

  • Could you post a clip of a full lap sometime? And great episode!

  • Excellent show!! I would enjoy the road testament a lot more if it looked more like this!! More real world... I do enjoy the other episodes, but today was really outstanding! Big fan of all you guys!! Keep up the good work!! watched every show since 2008...

  • Excellent show!! I would enjoy the road testament a lot more if it looked more like this!! More real world... I do enjoy the other episodes, but today was really outstanding!

Big fan of all you guys!! Keep up the good work!! watched every show since 2008...

  • Much better today JF

    Carting is so fun

  • This was on jalopnik.com

  • Great show. Made me realise I should spend some more time having fun on the karting track.

  • the episode reminds me of the movie kart racer that was a great movie

  • Good work guys, I think we would all love more of this stuff and less Alex Roy, right audience?

  • no real wheel diff makes karting even much more fun. u need to learn how to throttle and if u dont ur bound to lose speed and time. i dont kart often as in toronto there is no serious spot, but when i visit my bro in dubai i go there a lot as they have akick ass outdoor track and indoor.. i tried 180bhp open wheeler there also. man that was a rush.. too bad i cant try an f1 car :(

  • So who won?

  • This is the kind of stuff we need more of

  • Good episode, unlike yesterdays

  • Ayrton Senna one of the most entertaining drivers that ever existed !

  • @marcin2009 if you call crashing into other racers entertaining then hes your man

  • awesome...

  • Leo makes everything awesome

  • Aside from GPNY where can us NY guys race karts seriously?

  • it's nice to see a reality check video explaining that racing isn't just fun and games, you're racing because you want to race, you want to win, and that is a more rewardable goal than just wanting to go fast. Btw, Leo, yes you can blame the sim racers for the "bumping".

  • please make more episodes like this from time to time, IF theres space in your budget

  • JF, are you wearing a rental suit, or do you just have the jamaican flag on your suit, or are you actually jamaican? (please dont get pissed if i said something stupid)

  • @heavyarms788 It's my suit, an inside joke amongst friends. I'm actually Polish

  • @FastLaneDaily You're Polish JF? No kidding!? :D

  • @FastLaneDaily Polishness FTW.

  • @FastLaneDaily Polish Pride!

Did you burn out yesterday on Belmont in Chicago?

    (BTW I'm Polish too)

  • @FastLaneDaily NO WAY, do you speak polish at all?

  • @FastLaneDaily does it have to do with the 24 hours of lemons?

  • @FastLaneDaily How come you never said anything about your roots? What's your full name? Greets from another Polak in USA ;-)

  • @FastLaneDaily co za asy bro!!! XD

  • @heavyarms788 true dat

  • Oh hell yes.

  • One of the best episodes lately!

  • I like FLD

  • man I love this show....

  • So, that's where the really old Stig went...

  • Leo and JF are a great combo for the educational Items like these! :) great ep Keep it up guys i hope you can keep afloat.

  • any places in new jersey for carting ?

    Just curious

I can't drive to upstate new york every time i want to race a cart

  • @sid203 i know there's a really nice place in new castle delaware that i've been to. its an indoor facility, 1/4 mile race track. the cars wee averaging 24 second lap times, so they were pretty quick. Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix, thats the name of the place.

  • cant get too much of leo ever gr8 episode

  • Who won Leo or JF? I bet Leo did.

  • Great episode. Leo is the man.

  • This is the best show. Period.

  • I would have liked to have seen some full laps (maybe from the onboard) and some race-craft in action surely you have enough leftover footage to throw that together for another epp ;)

  • My favorite episode yet.

  • One of the best episodes ever. Evereverever.

  • Im just Wondering ...J.F have you got Polish roots? Your surname is sort of Polish ;)

  • Excellent episode. I've been doing indoor karting for a couple of years now, and I agree that it does mirror actual race car racing pretty closely. Karting is so incredibly intoxicating, that I get giddy every time I step into a kart. And JF, if we ever faced each other in a kart race, I'd totally beat you.

  • @Ferrari333SP Bingo.

  • Great episode. Love FLD!!

  • this show rocks :D

  • nice show guys,

    question:

What's the Power to Weight ratio of these Karts?

You said, that they have 12Hp but not how much these things weight.

  • @XDRONIN Around 80kg(180lbs).So the kart alone has 150 hp per ton power to weight ratio. Now with the driver, it depends on the weight of the driver but lets say you are 100 kg (220lbs)the power to weight will be 66 hp per ton.Compare that to a Prius (with again 100 kg driver)and It's 67 hp/ton.Damn near close. But is so isn't driving like a Prius LOOL.

  • @Antari007 Thank you,

I weight less than 70kg though and I've driven a Prius, so yeah thanks; and no on the Prius. LOL

  • JF actually makes a decent sidekick, he's Luke to Leo's Yoda. Nice episode with lots of insight from Leo into real racing life. Keep it up guys.

  • An awesome and FOCUSED ep. I think 6min is just right, and it gets to the point. Awesome as always guys!
