@The1717awesome Nope. A memory cell holds a value that can be toggled with 2 buttons. A T-Flip-Flop is a toggle-only switch that is toggled with 1 button.
@The1717awesome Actually it is simply an RS NOR latch. A t flip-flop is a single button that toggles the output. You might be thinking of a d flip-flop, but that is an input with a clock that either allows the output to be set to the input or not.
One question - How do you reset for the output to be 0 again? And I don't mean by going to the torch and replacing it, I mean, can I make a button that resets everything?
@derick1259 To reset it, have a button that goes to the other side of the memory cell circle. You can also make the same button act as a toggle if you prefer, which I did in my "Multipurpose Button Redstone Tutorial".
Legend: 1 Memory Cell = 1 Bit. 8 Bits = 1 Byte. 1,024 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte. That's as far as I'm going to say, as even one KB of simulated RAM in Minecraft takes up the whole map. 1 Megabyte(1,024 KB) is impossible without a Map Editor to make the world larger.
@TheAverageChannelx Using a whole bunch of these memory cells. And I'm pretty sure it's called an RS NOR latch, but I'm not sure since I've never used real Comp Sci terms.
Great tutorial. I needed this for the adventure pack. Thanks for explaining it well instead of just showing the setup which I could find out myself like other tutorials
I love your tutorial, short, informative, and totally helpful, not like some other 10+minutes tutorials with people more interested in bragging than teaching.
thank you I can finally understand the workings of the memory cell
@dabom0282 I'll be making a video on that. I just made a togglable button in Minecraft, so I will record the video when I can (probably this weekend).
@EnoRM94 Connect a wire to the "back" portion of the circle (the portion that is on by default, off when the memory cell is activated). Put a button or something on the end of that new wire. When you push the button, the memory cell will reset.
hey Camasupra im trying to learn how to make a computer in minecraft first i would like to know is this memory cell considered ram? and also how can i link it
@kuthegorix I don't know how to build an ALU/CPU in Minecraft. I believe many memory cells are used as RAM and the reset button on the creations resets them.
@cheeseywonder99 Yes. Have the button split in 2 directions. 1 goes to the off portion of the memory cell circle. The other goes to some repeaters and then the on portion of the memory cell circle. More repeaters = more delay. Watch my "Custom Button Delay Tutorial" video to see an example of it.
AWESOME YOU ROCK THANK YOU! :D :D

so its a on and off but with a button that stays on
?

@minecraftinfinty Basically. There are many applications of this, so it's not as useless as I made it seem in this video.

This is an RS NOR latch, right?
I had a question, I've seen the Voxel Box make a redstone ticker uswing memory, how does this store info?

is 1 memory cell 1bit(for like making computers)?
Noobioh 7 months ago
@Noobioh Yep. 1 memory cell = 1 bit. It only has 2 states (on and off), just like a bit only has 2 (0 and 1).
