@Steezeandmac I remember trying to study treys left hand chord patterns from this vhs on yamar... think we got it right but its so hard to tell, although the vhs was somewhat clearer, not by much though
Love the old school version, at of all places a little ski/sled hill down the road from me here near Hartford. Phish has always played great in CT and check out my vid of Possum from the about 40 miles northeast 20 years later.
You can get it in many forms on Itunes. It's on a few DVDs like Live In Brooklyn. There's a great version of it on the Clifford Ball DVD. Such an awesome tune to hear live. It's always on my wish list.
yeA I LAUGHED my ass off when i made that connection. was listening to the radio and me not being too familiar with skynard freaked out when that song came on. so far i've got that phish stole possum, the jam from mikes song from ted nugent strangehold and down with disease - hendrix purple haze, im sure there are way more but its a start
Anyone remember when Phish did this song w/ guest Derek Trucks on slide guitar...CLASSIC! My favorite band and my favorite guitarist together...although contrasting in styles it sounded great when they came together. I think Derek Trucks has one of the most distinctive and unique styles out there.
Dude I remember that ... Derek whoooped Trey's ass all over the stage and he was only like 21 at the time...he's the man...best guitarist since Jerbear passed....I don't want any thumbs down since I like trey too
@princeofdankness Derek Trucks is amazing, but guess what. He's a one dimensional player. Sorry to say it, but he is not as multidimensional of a player as Trey. sure he can slide the guitar faster than trey ever could move his fingers, but that is far from everything young padawan. he may own the blues but could he ever make a song like foam? could he ever have made run like an antelope? no, never
@rrtierney i fully agree. no knock on trucks he is a beast in his own right.. but trey is on a completely different level.. and its not any other guitarists fault that trey is on a way more advanced and stylistic level then they are. bottom line, trey name should be next jimi and the other greats .. not d trucks..
@rrtierney Wtf...I have been a steadfast Phish fan for the last 2 months, but that was just retarded. That's like saying "could trey ever have helped write desdemona?" And a one dimensional player??? Have you even heard Trucks play???
if you squint your eyes its almost like its high quality!
