  • Is this song about nuclear war?

  • me and my buddy bubba way back in the day would trip balls and rape the replay button on this song

  • That's my favorite!! Simply perfect!

  • I know that change is constant in life, but I really like Hiro Yamamoto on bass better than Ben Shepard. Of course, I wish Robert Trujillo had stayed in Infectious Grooves rather than be in Metallica, just gotta roll with it.

  • kim is so underrated

  • I was born 2 days before the 4th of July. :)

  • thank you.... love this beautiful song.

I thought I was the only one... but that was a lie... i heard it in the wind....

  • Kim must be using some weird-ass guitar tuning for this song.

  • @Kkrouton Most likely.

  • @kyletheenigma yeah. it's tuned CFCGBE (low to high)

  • theme song for my life..

  • After listening to Soundgarden for a long time in the past and abstaining for a while, coming back the guitar sounds like Crowbar.

  • woww esta es de las mejores de Soundgarden sin duda,,ambiental y profunda,...impresionante

  • This solo is a masterpiece

  • This would've worked really well in Watchmen or as a song for the trailer. Anything really dark and really badass.

  • A duet with himself. Those are both Chris, right?

  • @KevinLounsberry Yes both of the voices you hear are Chris Cornell.

  • @KevinLounsberry yeah. He basically always does his own backups.

  • two voices! cornell is the best by far

  • The intro is very haunting.......the lyrics to jesus in a hole trying to crack a smile is a reference to just how out of control the world is and not even jesus our lord can handle another shovel load of "shit".

  • The Solo Rules!!!

  • Love his dubbed voice...two of Chris' voices is much better than one

  • The opening of this song is one of the best guitar rifs/solo's I've ever heard.

  • @machenations Simple, but sometimes that's all you need.

  • I grew up listening to this..such a great song!

  • What happened was Chris Cornell was high on the fourth of july and was inspired to make a metaphor out of it to come across with a deeper meaning. Its not ABOUT drugs, its Cornell's typical "people are stupid and hypocritical" lyrics. I was depressed on the fourth of july once and this song is absolutely incredible to listen to for me, it's my favorite song of all time by far.

  • "..cool on the waterway, where the baptized drown.."

"..down in the hole, jesus tries to crack a smile, beneath another shovel load.."

i don't hate Christianity or anything but those lyrics are so god damn cool, lol.

That's one of my favorite things about superunknown, the lyrics are so incredibly dark.

  • The song's about LSD . About tripping by yourself. not war or bombs or vietnam or apocolypse now. I heard it in the wind I saw it in the sky I thought it was the end. Now I'm in control. It's about tripping by yourself

  • pretty decent song

  • Song brings me back, just awesome

  • Hey, almost all songs are open to interpretation, so who knows?

  • Entrancing song. I bet it would have been great on the soundtrack of Apocalypse Now (anyone know that movie?).

It's amazing, this song should've been a single.

  • I always wondered if this song was about nuclear war. What do you think?

  • I think the line "heros in stretchers ditched to the side" implies regular army-to-army combat, with lots of explosions in the air (flak, mortars, etc)

But nuclear war is also a good interpritation, it makes sense.

  • Correction, the line I siad above is from "Limo Wreck"...... but my opinion hasn't changed.

  • The song is about an acid (LSD) trip. Cornell said so in an interview with RIP magazine.

  • @iwillneverpostavideo i think it wouldnt have fit fir apocalypse. maybe a modern war movie?

  • yes my thoughts exactly,.,,,,,,but 30 years off.....but really i had that in the back of my head....Chris Cornell was born too late...he should have been the lead singer of Black Sabbath and also put his music in many movies

  • @iwillneverpostavideo You must be a real youngin to ask that question... One of the most famous movies in history!

  • This reminds me of the band Earth, only with melody.

  • Great Song!!! My favourite by Soundgarden!!

    Cool video and good job!

  • one of the best soundgarden songs.. really

  • Great song by a great band. 5 *'s from me.

  • nice job!
