A Brit did propose an early version of HTML, but other interlinking document technologies were available such as Apple's HyperCard. Thus the choice of HTML by the consortium was unremarkable. A Brit did propose an early version of HTML, but that is NOT the Internet and other similiar technologies were available had the consortium decided to use something else. Thus his contribution was unremarkable. Furthermore, American companies like Microsoft, Google, Netscape, and Apple are the ones responsible for the development of the innovation the world enjoys today. Europe is irrelevant.
