  • the best version ever!! really love the bluesy rock solo

  • I think this is the version for people who truly understand the song, rather than just like the melody or instruments or whatever.

I think this version captures the true message of the song, especially in the intro because that's how this song probably came to be; some guy singing by himself or among his friends in the house of the rising sun.

  • @iceteaguy Thank you!

I tired of reading the comments.

Even cancelled the "Best version" from title.

If someone arrived to this level you don't need to explain anything.

I can see now that after many years Eric Burdon arrived to this - musically and in personality.

  • Such a cool version with the long intro! was looking for a long time for this one, tnx uploader!

  • The animals version was the worst so far

  • My mothers favourite all time song, she loved the Animals in their day but never got a chance to see them then. . took her to falkirk town hall 4 years ago to see the Animals play live. minus eric burdon

    made her day ;-)

  • for me..this version is better ...introduction is a bit long but I love it when music starts.

  • sounds like Eric Burdon hes done more versions then anybody i heard he hates this song wish i made money off it. great job. i've watched 13 versions of this song tonight Leadbelly , Animals ,Bon Jovi ,Frigjid pink ,Cool'O'Keefe' Sinead O'Connor' Dolly Parton'GeraldBoyClassical' Nina Simone' the Beatles' The Ventures' Waylon Jennings' Eric Burdon'

  • I listen to this everyday!

  • I love this version.. There's so much more heart and soul in it.

  • The best acapella verzion

  • "The Vocals does speak for themselves in this song"

  • I reckon the Animals version is way better.

  • Good but not great. The first minute & 40 seconds messed the whole thing up. IMHO. After that it was really good. Thanks for posting. Ride Safe.

  • Good but not great. Thanks for posting. Ride Safe.

  • Good version:))

  • This song has been covered so many times by so many people there is no "best" version. It's a standard. This song will be sang by our descendants long after there are no more nations and we are back living in caves.

  • its better then old version

  • Ahh, it doesn't substitute the original.

    Rather complete that.

If someone cannot feel the depth in it, that's a pity...or maybe a good thing(?)

Those ones may meet this song again and it will hit them....

  • @JosephMile Thank you for sharing this version. Still has the same effect. Your dad has good taste as well.

  • i like this versino.. but in my opinion it takes too long to get into it.

  • Love the original from 1964, but just heard Waylon's rendition. This one here is missing the mood and feeling, imho. The lead guitar sounds good though.

  • ERIC BURDON BAND - THE HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN

  • Oh How love this song

  • yes I like this verzion best is my fav fab from Croatia Eric rules

  • The lead was peeeeeeeeeeerfect damn!!! HOW TO LEARN DO THIS BY YOURSELF (I mean not covering it, just making it by yourself!! I can do something like this, but not the same power! Hoow.. tell me someone.. What to learn?)

  • i love this version! THX!

  • ERIC BURDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a few years ago I was at a cantina in Woodland Park, Colorado and Eric played there with his band the "New Animals" the following year he headlined the Pikes Peak Blues Festival in Colorado Springs...even though there were less of us in the audience than his band at "Tres Hombres" (the cantina) He and the band put on one hell of a show...great public domain song found by Alan Lomax doing field recording to preserve American folk songs.

  • Who's the artist here??

  • You can read his name at 1.37 ;)

  • @laabro43

    Eric Burdon

  • Didn't care for the intro too much, but once the guitar started, this song actually got pretty good. The guitar solo itself was also surprisingly good with a lot of feeling.

    Thank you for this!

  • Love the arrangement....the little turn around from F to G is a very nice touch.

Also like the lead guitar riff...awesome!

    The intro.......Naahhh....needs music.

Singing is a little to loose....needs to stay more towards the original version. All-and-all , not bad.........

  • what the hell?
