@dontstoptheclock Bottom line Harper got 47% of the vote outside Quebec. There is no separation of powers in Canada. We have an elected dictatorship here in Canada. You win. Your team gets to take Canada where ever they want to for the next 5 years. We will see where they take us. Liberal Fag? I don't know about that. I was one of the very few Albertans that voted against Harper (I voted NDP). I believe Harper will wreck our great country. We will see. I hope I am wrong.

I had the honour and privilege of working with Peter in the insurance industry, before he left to pursue a career in politics. @lepban Fortunately, that clown can be voted out, because the 2008 margin of victory was only 17 votes. Assuming a few more Liberal voters show up this time.
This issue is old hat. Who came up with the term 'detainees' anyway? Suspects held for just cause would be a better term. If you don't want trouble, you stay out of hot spots. These people were asking for trouble and our troops took them out of circulation for awhile until further evidence could be gained. It's war! People are dying. If you have a problem with that go lobby the Taliban. Don't sit at your computer in the safety of your home and pick on the good guy.
@rwam Holding someone without cause is illegal even in Afghanistan. When someone is taken for further questioning, they are considered a "person of interest" which avoids them being called a detainee. Many Canadian soldiers care about the well-being of Afghans and deplore the unfair treatment of people who were detained and mistreated.
@Nick57595153 Doesn't matter how much support they have. Once the In And Out scandal grows we'll see 66 CPC MPs BANNED, CPC leaders JAILED, and the CPC DISBANDED. They will win ZERO votes and ZERO seats. The Harper Conservatives will make a MAJORITY of inmates at their new prison.
Conservative,s looking foolish again, this is a true conservative Babble,
and confusion. If China called in dept owed by the US its economy would collapse. US wants to keep its dollar over the euro. It needs more assets to continue in the future. Harper doesn't care how he looks, hes just trying to put Canada, by dept 56bil Jets over 50Bil sell Canadian assets, tax breaks to wealthy, say we can't sustain health care. privatization . Equalizing us with USA. Canada, from Harper to his buddies?
@dragas2 I agree, I have met Peter and found him very likable. This is despite being an NDP member. I'm not saying I'd vote for him, but I don't wish him ill will.
@7boon Meh. Support goes up and down. 30% is around the base of Conservative support in Canada. Governments that lead countries through recessions in general don't do very well in elections, but yet the Conservatives still maintain solid support. This shows that either they're competent or the opposition do not present viable alternatives, or both.
for all of the people who said something cold-hearted and evil about this man havo NO RIGHT! mr. braid does everything to ensure that his riding has te very best. yes, braid won by 17 votes against someone who was an MP for 15 years. anyone who went up against te former MP lost by at least 1000 votes. so I say braid won by 1017 votes! and e deserved every ballet with his named chacked off on it! I believe that mr. braid is going to go somewhere in politics.
@TheOrangeSunglasses Then why does he run roughshod over constituents who ask for clear and honest answers about why Harper closed Parliament and his party is disrupting the torture investigation?
Anyone who thinks that a legal investigation makes us traitors, IS NOT A GOOD MAN. Period.
Yikes. Why did they send some random backbencher to go up against Bob Rae to defend the indefensible? At least send one of the more rabid MPs like John Baird.
Looking at the Harper government as a whole, I think what they're not used to is actually responding to criticism. I don't think I've ever seen Harper go out there and argue firmly and sensibly against any criticism. Question-dodging, prorogation, casting the opposition as "socialists and separatists", sure. Content, not really.
Another con servative twisting the facts. Stop using Canadian troops as human shields, cons. They are not your playthings.........Very disrespectful!
I am in K/W also - Braid's riding...might I add that he got no more votes than previous conservative candidates, the Liberal voters just didn't show up last election in protest of Dion.
Anyway, Braid, as most CPC MP's, tows the party line and doesn't say anything unnapproved He doesn't represent his riding by a long shot.
Count how many times he says 'um'. I read that the more times that you use it in a sentence the more the imaginative( read: your making things up) part of your brain is working.
What a hopeless, hapless performance! "...blah...blah..I don't know... I haven't seen the ten- percenter..." oops...BOOM goes the (political) dynamite!
I actually live in his riding. Do you know Kitchener-Waterloo was the closest riding in the last election? The prorogue demonstrations were really big for the size of the pop. I hope this provides enough fodder for the swing "light" Cons to see the light. Talking points are same as used in US under Bush. Using the same people. Apathy cannot win next time.
So why the hell isn't Rae leading the Liberal Party? We wouldn't be listening to idiots like Braid if the Liberals had sorted out their own sandbox feuds. Nothing against Iggy, but he obviously has not been the person up to the task of taking on the neo-con goons.
@adammaisking hmmm deficit spending, planes that can't operate in the arctic, ramped up war on drugs, and an unethical ethics commissioner. 5 years for them to wreck our country...

i dont care how dumb this guy looks, the truth is still that if the liberals were in power we would be much further in debt...
no chance in hell that the liberals will win the next election. Conservative principles are what kept canada alive during this recession. dont forget that.
What? Conservative principles? Are you talking about their longstanding desire to dismantle precisely that regulatory system that saved the Canadian financial sector and thus a large part of the economy?
What "truth" are you even talking about, other than the one you invented to keep your head in the sand?
You are one confused lemming. Let me share some insight with you. Do you remember the "coalition" and the proroguing of parliament which followed in 2008? Do you remember on what issue it was? Last I checked it was due to the fact that the Conservatives weren't offering enough stimulus in their budget. After the threats had calmed down, Harper met with some of the Libs, NDP, Bloc etc and they came up with a stimulus package which is what kept Canada alive during this recession. That's a fact.
Now another point which also counters your claims is that it was the Liberals under Chretien who slashed government spending under Mulroney and therefore balancing the budget from something like 1995-2006. Was Mulroney one of those "Conservatives" with "Conservative Principles"?
If anything, we'd be in much better hands under the Liberals than the Conservatives and that seems to be quite evident. Do I agree with the Liberals Policies? Some yes, Most no. But the fact remains.
I almost feel sorry for Braid who looks clearly embarrassed to be spouting the bland nothingness in defense of the indefensible. Maybe he was thinking"Darn. When I signed up for the Conservative,s I thought they were still Progressives Cons!"
I live in this guy's riding. I didn't vote for him, but I still feel like I need to apologize for having him as a representative. How pathetic can a man be?
That was pretty brutal. Good on CTV for pressing him.
We have to put a stop to this talking point politics. The conservatives are going to get creamed it the next election and the last thing I want is a Liberal Majority to plunge us deeper into debt.
Stop this macho chest puffing bullshit and get back to real fiscal conservatism, then I might vote for you.
