When someone is taken for further questioning, they are considered a "person of interest" which avoids them being called a detainee. Many Canadian soldiers care about the well-being of Afghans and deplore the unfair treatment of people who were detained and mistreated.

I am in K/W also - Braid's riding...might I add that he got no more votes than previous conservative candidates, the Liberal voters just didn't show up last election in protest of Dion.

I actually live in his riding. Do you know Kitchener-Waterloo was the closest riding in the last election? The prorogue demonstrations were really big for the size of the pop. You are one confused lemming. Let me share some insight with you. Do you remember the "coalition" and the proroguing of parliament which followed in 2008? Do you remember on what issue it was? Last I checked it was due to the fact that the Conservatives weren't offering enough stimulus in their budget. After the threats had calmed down, Harper met with some of the Libs, NDP, Bloc etc and they came up with a stimulus package which is what kept Canada alive during this recession. That's a fact.

Now another point which also counters your claims is that it was the Liberals under Chretien who slashed government spending under Mulroney and therefore balancing the budget from something like 1995-2006. Was Mulroney one of those "Conservatives" with "Conservative Principles"?

If anything, we'd be in much better hands under the Liberals than the Conservatives and that seems to be quite evident. Do I agree with the Liberals Policies? Some yes, Most no. But the fact remains.
