@Mooorhe Sería de extremadamente loco reconocer la calidad de tenor de Pavarotti. No obstante, disiento con Ud. en cuanto al papel de Manrico. No creo que haya sido el mejor o uno de los mejores en este papel. Se requiere un tenor spinto, o a lo sumo dramático, no un lírico como Pavarotti. Cada uno a lo suyo. Pienso que por ej. el Manrico de Corelli era muy superior al de Pavaortti. Saludos.
While Pavarotti is good here, he has sung this aria better. I'm a great Pavarotti fan, but i find his high notes are a little strained here...it's quite possible he was ill at the time. The expression he conveys in this aria is incredible though.
The voice was so dark by this time, and had sufficient weight for the role, even though it was centered fairly low. I love hearing him sing this music.
Pavarotti in excellent clear voice, and his trademark sensual phrasing. Very good indeed, even though Manrico was always at the limits of his dramatic voice. Check out the young Carlo Bergonzi in this role - his was probably the best, most sustained, most Verdian rendition.
Nobody else stood in line with him
