originals movies are always better becaue of a remake is going to be better there getting a second chance to re do a movie and they have the blueprint right in front of them.
suspiria definitely came out in 77 which is also one of my fave movies
I miss old school horror movies when they used make up and it looked so much more real then lousy cgi I just miss the old school campy filing that horror films used to have.
hi, can u help? i saw a horror movie(in uk) in the 70s, no idea what it was called,it was set in a hospital, ending scene was 2(i think) small toy robots about to do somthing bad and when the actor kills them all thier guts came out (as if they were living creatures). any idea?
you have really good taste and insights;i totally agree about the 70's/80's genra of like malls and the scenery.New horror sucksssssss,so does the music.Bring back the 80's!!Phantasm is so phantastic too lol..you have never seen the afraid of the dark from the 80's???Not sure if i have, but there is one that is very good called alone in the dark from 80, i think.
i agree with you on halloween 3;no one seems to like it,but i enjoy it!hate the remakes of halloween;horribleeeeee to say the least.omggg bad ronald is awesome.remember this one from being a kid!you rock collduder!
My Favorite 70's Horror Films (Not in order!!!) The Last House on the left The Texas Chainsaw Massacre THE EXORCIST!!!!! Halloween (A TRUE GOD!) Evil Dead The Hills Have Eyes Suspiria Deep Red Carrie The Omen The Amityville Horror Black Christmas (A TRUE CLASSIC!)
@creepypasta2000 indeed. i never wanted to watch it til my cousin bought it in a pack and it was a really good movie. shame they made it part of the halloween series tho. thats why it never got any popularity.
You really have a talent for this! I grew up watching all of these originals (70's) and you are absolutely right! The originals are ALWAYS the best. You should do this as a career. You are wise enough to see through all the money and glitter to what is truly good. I remember as a girl "bad ronald" really freaked me out. I forgot all about but recently remembered it and began looking for it. It's really cool that you actually did a review on it.
@lala123too nah man look kt up it was 1973 i believe u must be thinking of later ones theres hundreds of exorcist films but only one is the best and that was the original from the 70's
you know dude that there is a way to get phantasm 2 on dvd. It's a four pack at walmart that containes phantasm 2, fun house, and two other snake movies, so there you go.
and my favorites are Let's Scare Jessica To Death and Last House On The Left, kinda weird you didn't mention the scariest horror filme ever made: The Exorcist, but that's alright, peace out , man
A really good 70's movie is the psychological horror movie "Don't Look Now," based off the story by Daphne Du Maurier. It stars Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie.
halloween 3 season of the witch is the "halloween" movie since the original.. none of the sequels arent as good as the original! You dont need any of the sequels, watch next time Halloween 1 as a stand alone and you totally get a new edge to the film! Halloween 3 isnt a sequel, but is orginal and where else will you ever see a movie where kids are killed bobbie trap masks?? amazing film!
it really sucks that david hess wasnt in the remake, but then again it really sucks there WAS a remake. if you like david hess, check out house at the edge of the park: its similar to last house on the left

yes. it is the sequel to night of the comet. it takes place in a mall. has a lot of little details like what you said "closed sundays" its called day of the comet but thats 80's it goes for 137 mins in color and if you find it and watch it, watch it with dr pepper. the girl is addicted to dr pepper in the movie. it is out of print and you can't find it on amazon. but i got it in wal mart
i like watching your videos even if i didn't care for some of the movies you picked i like hearing what you have to say and i love the original texas chainsaw massacre but i think the remake was actually really good and one of the very few modern horror remakes that actually had some good acting and was pretty scary even jessica biel i think did a great job and i think it really depends on who the actor is thats in it.
oh and if your looking for an older horror movie that takes place in a mall and havn't seen or heard about it already is chopping mall i did'nt hear you ever bring it up its not a very good movie but you may really like it if you havn't seen it already.
A well known fact the more budget you have on a film the crapper the movie. Also they focus more on the effects than on the story and the acting sucks. Look at all these old horror films look at there budget and look at where they are now cult classics remakes are shit compared to the originals keep the budgets low then you get a better film.
phantom of the mall is a great 80's movie. it's plot is very similar to phantom of the opera, but takes place in mall. hard to explain but still really good.
You seen alot of obscure campy low-budget "drive in" 80's flicks like "Mountaintop Motel Massacre"? the cell phone in that movie when guy calls for help is OLD lol
I'd argue that Suspiria has the creepiest soundtrack of any horror film.. ever.. I saw so many obscure american horror films over the years I HAD to get into italian horror! lol which is awesome Dario argento etc. His daughter acting in "land of the dead" wasn't that bad it was just a bad movie to the series!.. zombies walking underwater? lol...really... & the leader was always screaming ugh that was a bad theatre day for me. Rob zombie's best was still Devil's Rejects. Today's mainstream horror movies suck. in the 70's & 80's even the mainstream was awesome half the time
@playaeyez17 ---Devil's Rejects IS Great! Then I bought House of 10,000 Corpses by Zombie also. That one wasn't as good. I still haven't seen Zombie's Halloween movies---How are they?
Your horror movie taste is superb!, great channel. I had a limited edition Texas Chainsaw Massacre "Hologram" dvd, from a few years back but lost It on the move. The remake is just simply atrocious I agree. For horror movies use ethier "new" people, b-listers or worse, or use the original cast of the 1st unkown cast which the series starts with ya know. I have that SAME LIMJITED EDITION SUSPIRIA! (1 OF THE BEST MOVIES EVR MADE!), BTW GOBLIN IS AMAZING BAND FOR HORROR MUSIC ;-)
I love horror movies. Especially the older ones. I saw a movie in the 70's that scared me as a child and all I remember is a girl was lying face down on a pillow crying and a guy walked in and when she rose up she was transformed into a monster and shut the guy in the bedroom door. Would you happen to know what movie I'm talking about because I would love to see it again. I love your reviews.
My 1st visit. I like your reviews and I'm glad you didn't limit these films to a Top 10, 20, 69...etc. I'm impressed that you have Tourist Trap w/ Chuck Connors (1979) and Phantom of the Paradise with Paul Williams (more famous as a songwriter). I have also enjoyed PATRICK, HORROR EXPRESS w/Telly Savalas (60's) and THE DEVIL'S RAIN with William Shatner. There's just so many good ones, it's hard to put a cap on the amount. Great Job!!!
@geshkickshank I don't think that's really a horror movie. Isn't it more like a a Fantasy or Science Fiction? I am very glad that you mentioned it because I had forgotten about Eraserhead- definitely a great movie. Thanks!
@chubbzeeubbzee I guess it's just how you look at it. If you go in to it with the idea it's horror, It's very much so a horror film. But if you just look at it as an art film or something else, the whole horror aspect of it vanishes. I guess it just scared me how normal the plot is -having a premature child, and relationship issues- can develop such a nightmare inducing film.
@chubbzeeubbzee I forgot the story and watched a few clips on YouTube to freshen up and later on I definitely regretted saying it wasn't horror. As funny as I think the chicken scene is, most others would consider it scary. As a former pot smoker I would immediately recommend Eraserhead to anyone (especially pot smokers) because it's definitely "way out there". I also have FREAKS on DVD (from the 1930s).
here's my thaught on Rob Zombi's Halloween, it was a good movie especially with danny trejo as the janitor but he shouldn't of called it Halloween. if he changed the name of the movie, and the character's names. it would stand alone as a solid horror movie. unfortunetly becuase he "remade" the orgional, it will forever be compared to John Carpenter's. JC's is 10 times better.
Check out: torso, watch me when i kill, race with the devil, to the devil a daughter, dont torture a duckling, living dead athe the manchester morgue, shivers, black christmas, deranged, toolbox murders, driller killer, when a stranger calls, lips of blood, last house on dead end street. Have you seen 'Smash Cut' (not 70's) with Hess in? Also stars HG Lewis; Godfather of Gore. How about 'chainsaw sally', 'murder set pieces' & 'hollywood chainsaw hookers' wiv gunnar hansen in? (Not 70's)
shawn i know you're notr the type to buy the mvoies that are always talked bout but the EXORCIST is one of the movies thats et the bar for others. It was released in 1973 also so no excuse.
nice list. Halloween and the texas chainsaw massacre were great. Halloween 2 wuz also kool. I didn't see the remake of Texas chainsaw but i saw the halloween remake and it sucked for the most part. i saw the prequel and 1st sequel to TCM the prequel wuz great but #2 sucked. i want to see Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes. Tourist Trap looks good too. peace out
@mrpolaroid123 i watched it as a result of watching this video, could av done so much more with it. three i have watched due to this guys recommendation are the re-animator 1 and 2 and childs play.....both very entertaining films..
Unlimited energy sources are out there! But Elite controllers don't want ppl to be free from the costs of energy,Get a motor that needs no gas or electric input at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Let the revolution begin!
Wow Baby!!! I LOVE YOUR COMMENTS!!! you can get Dont Be Afraid of The dark on DVD from Monsters In Motion a TRUE TV MOVIE 1973 classic. No one else has it! Todays young actors cant act thats the TRUTH!!!!! AMEN
All but the Texas Chainsaw Massacre were good movies. I have a few others that could be added to that list: The Fog (original), Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things, I drink Your Blood, I Spit on Your Grave, and The Brood, just to say the least. The reason I'm not a fan of the original TCM is of how slow it was and the dinner scene really didn't need to be that long.
You mention De Palma's Phantom of the Paradise but not Sisters or Carrie? What??? You missed some of the best horror stuff of the 70's too, like Alien, Jaws, The Tenant, and you mentioned Argento's Suspiria but not Deep Red. Plus Hitchcock's last horror film Frenzy. You didn't mention that or A Clockwork Orange. (Which I consider horror) Even Eraserhead is something I think should have been included. Some say it's not really horror but I think it is. A lot of these movies were terrible.
Think you for your blog i was looking for this movie for so long but couldnt get the name.thanks to you i got it, TOURIST TRAP one of my best 70s horror movie. THANKS COOLDUDER!!!!!
Yeah me too i hate the remakes , especially the remake for the Texas chainsaw massacre. The original 70s Texas chainsaw was the best one and a classic . I get so irritated when people talk about remakes all the time and you start talking about the originals and they look at you puzzled.

@geshkickshank I don't think that's really a horror movie. Isn't it more like a a Fantasy or Science Fiction? I am very glad that you mentioned it because I had forgotten about Eraserhead- definitely a great movie. Thanks!
chubbzeeubbzee 11 months ago
@chubbzeeubbzee I guess it's just how you look at it. If you go in to it with the idea it's horror, It's very much so a horror film. But if you just look at it as an art film or something else, the whole horror aspect of it vanishes. I guess it just scared me how normal the plot is -having a premature child, and relationship issues- can develop such a nightmare inducing film.
geshkickshank 11 months ago

All but the Texas Chainsaw Massacre were good movies. I have a few others that could be added to that list: The Fog (original), Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things, I drink Your Blood, I Spit on Your Grave, and The Brood, just to say the least. The reason I'm not a fan of the original TCM is of how slow it was and the dinner scene really didn't need to be that long.

no exorcist?? good video's tho

Yeah me too i hate the remakes , especially the remake for the Texas chainsaw massacre. The original 70s Texas chainsaw was the best one and a classic . I get so irritated when people talk about remakes all the time and you start talking about the originals and they look at you puzzled.
