  • Very Helpful.... I'm gonna post the link of my pic when I'm done :)

  • you should do a sketch tutorial

  • wow thanks! this really helped out :D

  • Very cool, thank you very much. This helped me a lot.

  • This helped me out so much! Thanks muchly!

  • Thank you for this tutorial video, it helped me a lot!

  • I had alittle trouble using the magic wand tool trying to select some places I wanted to shade. I sent you a PM about it. You may want to read and reply to my PM for further details.

  • k im brand new to paint dt net and i cannot figure out how to get the paint to not cover up the lines you used to trace!! so i cannot shade, (not well at least) please help!!

  • @SarcasmMaster I'm not sure if I understand what you're saying, but I think you have to set your shading layer to multiply (double click on the layer, a box will pop up) and make sure that layer is underneath the lineart.

  • @SarcasmMaster i had that prob too today but managedto figure it out u click the layers tab>layer properties> Mode: (set to overlay) and that will not cover ur lines

  • @SarcasmMaster Just make another layer right at the beggining, then dra the character there and duplicate the layer, then paint in the duplicate and the lines won't cover the character

  • @SarcasmMaster Make a new layer and use the paint bucket to make the layer white

then in the layer box, double click the the new layer and the properties will pop up

change the "mode" from "normal" to "multiply" and thats it :)

now just paint on the new layer and you got it

  • Thank you for this :D!!! I know now how to shade my drawings :D

  • Thank You! This Helped Me So So Soooo Much, I Had No Idea How To Do The Ctrl+I Then Delete Thing:)

  • I don't understand how to do the delete thing. I understand the ctrl-i part, but how do I do the deleting part after ctrl-i?

  • @TheSpiralQueenTSQ Just hit delete on your keyboard after you do the ctrl+i part.

  • OMG THANK YOU! THIS HELPED ME ALOT! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!! XD

  • Wow, This is great, helped me ALOT <3

  • This tutorial helped me a LOT. It's so simple to do shading, thanks a bunch for showing me!

  • Thank you for actually speaking. Much better than useless music

  • This is really helpful! Thank you so much for doing Paint.net tutorials, my favorite program for making digital art! <3

  • This is a really big help to me! I know it may be boring and old news for you, but I am new to paint.net and I really appreciate your tutorial. I especially appreciate that you talked during it, as many of them they dont, and I have no idea what they are doing. Thank you vm, i will be watching it over and over til i learn it.

  • @cuteeverything Well, thank you for this comment! :D It's the best I've gotten in a long long time. I'm really glad you liked this and found it helpful.

  • @WackyWatermelonWalk Your voice is very entertaining :3

  • awesome :)

  • This was soooo helpful

  • i didnt get the magic wand... control eye and the convert selection and delete thingy o.o...

  • @KathyNguyen911 The magic wand tool selects one color for you. And when you press CTRL+I on your key board, it will invert selection. So if you select red with the tool, it will select everything but the color red. Then you delete the things you don't want. First you select the color (or colors) you're shading on the color layer, then go to the shading layer, CTRL+I and delete so none of the shading is on the other colors.

  • @WackyWatermelonWalk thankyouzz**~~ ^^ <3

  • i can't really hear you at the part you are taking out the outside after the shading is done

  • @8tohru Ah, sorry for the mumbling. I'm saying something like, "Use the magic wand tool to select the skin on the color layer on global with the tolerance at zero. Then go back to the shading later, ctrl+I to invert selection, and delete."

  • THT ROX

  • It helped me a lot, but still confused on some parts. >.<

  • @RobloxJackOoLantern Feel free to send me a private message, I'll gladly help with anything you're confused about.

  • your paint.net is (100%) why my paint.NET is (70%)

  • @jmjeriko97 That is how much it is zoomed in. You'll notice it changes throughout the video when I zoom in or out.

  • thanks, really helpful!

  • when you were deciding on the face blur i was screaming at my computer 4 but picked 3 =[

  • girl... you... have.... talent!

  • Thank you SOOOOO much, this totally helped me.

  • what program is it?

  • @Tylkia Read title and comment box, plz.

  • @Tylkia paint.net

  • Comment removed

  • @Tylkia ITS PAINT.NET!!!!

  • How did you invert (divert? lol) selection at 2:05?

  • @VollgasHero Never mind, just read it below. lol Great video by the way, helped a lot.

  • hey wait how did you do so that the color of the shadow on the skin outside disapeard?? O____O

  • @AniimeGiirl96 With 0% tolerance, select the skin on your color layer. Then go to the layer with shading, press ctrl+I (to invert selection), and delete.

  • Wow Thanks So Much WaWaWa!!!!!!! I Learned Alot From This!!

  • what do i press after ctrl I??

  • @Beserker333 You press delete. That mumbling part is just me saying "to invert selection", which is what Ctrl I does.

  • when u use the line tool how did u make it so u can see through the line art?

  • plz help me, i dont know where to click to use the line tool shading part!

  • @Beserker333 You mean the line tool? It's the third one up from the bottom right on the tool box. Flashing squares will appear on the line that you can click and drag to change the shape of the line.

  • Nvm but can you show me how to do somthing like this

  • @csskillerking Ha, well, just find a lineart you like and look at the end of my lineart tutorial. It's the same thing, only your lineart would be premade. :/ I can't be of much help anymore because I quit drawing.

  • Can you make a video on how to do lineart??

  • Can i Have the picture to practice on?

  • @csskillerking Due to a recent crash on my computer, I don't have the lineart anymore. However, you can use any lineart for this. Just look at the end of my lineart tutorial for help on that.

  • ThnQ!! you realy helped me out

  • Thx! It's really helping!!!! ^w^<::Teehee::)

  • what website is this I NEED TO KNOW

  • thank you i just used your tutorial to paint on of my pictures thank you again it really helped me alot

  • ah my brain hurts

  • thanks this helped

  • TYLER!? and thx for the Tip.

  • Thanks! this helped so much!

  • Can someone please tell me what she said after she said "ctrl i"?

  • Thanks a lot for this ^_^ I was tired of doing flat coloring. It looks good, but shading just makes it look SO much better :D

  • cool

  • thanx sooo much!!

  • Thanks so much. BTW that's not a crappy tutorial.

  • how did you make the line show from under the shading i need to know itll only make my life easier

  • thank you oooooh soo much very informative

  • what are those 2 dots for under the drawings arm and top of the head?

  • Those are color samples. They aren't necessary, but it is nice to have your colors saved on a different layer in case something gets messed up.

  • what is the multiply for?

  • Multiply changes the property of the layer. Basically, white becomes completely transparent and colors show differently. I mainly do that for the smudge tool, though I did not use it this time for simplicity.

  • thanks! i've been so confused!!

  • THANK YOUUU! this helped SOOO MUCH <3

  • wheres convert selection

  • Ctrl+I is the hot key on your keyboard, but it also in the Edit menu.

  • You know, I would've never thought to do move the selection to make the shadows the hair leaves on the skin, that's rather helpful

  • Lots of help, thanks for the videos=)
