  • The video doesn't show that the lion didn't have the strength to take on an elam, it's just that the lion was too slow. And that's just ONE case. As another poster said, there are videos of leopards running up trees to hide from female lions, so I could imagine they definitely would not stand a chance against MALE lions.

  • hahaha you are blind or need a glasses???, look at the picture it was't a bull eland, Leopard killed a male kudu... just look the shape of the horns...

  • Excuse me, but it's impossible for a male leopard to kill a bull eland, unless it is young, old or injured.

  • I've seen a video were a lioness chased 2 leopards up a tree and stalked them for half a day. Even after she left the leopards stayed in the tree for a few more hours.

  • Lions and Tigers Ftw screw off leopards! >:(

  • why do people make these stupid videos? who cares if a lion can't kill an animal that a leopard can kill?? what are you going to achieve in life by saying, well a leopard can kill this but a lion can't....? grow up...seriously

  • That is a bull eland, not a kudu. Note the horn shape. @pixelrelated, male lions are devastating hunters. I watched one ambush and kill an impala in Ngorgoro Crater in 1988. Do a YouTube search for lions buffalo and see what the males are capable of.

  • That is a bull eland, not a kudu. Note the horn shape.

  • this video SUCKSSSSSS

  • 1 male lion could take down a eland bull if it can get close enough

  • Its a Kudu Bull not an Eland in the photo

  • this video is not good

  • The cat family like lions, tigers, pumas, panthers, cheetahs and even the house cat are very beautiful animals!!!

  • Male Lions do not hunt! the females do the hunting and the male does the eating.

  • sometime its about strategy, and lions use there power... leopards use cunning, and cheetahs use speed

  • Uh in that pic, I think that was a kudu in the pic not an eland

  • THATS a baby girraff!?!?!?!?

  • Does anyone know the name of the documentary? With honey the cheetah and the lions and such?

  • Just another stupid title to get some views

  • The 1 ton eland rarely gets taken down by lions, it's like a cape buffalo wth sharper horns and on meth. Thinner hides than buffalo, but even lion "prides" get fucked up by them all the time. Two would NEVER have been enough.

  • Instead of showing evidence, you play a clip of someone else saying what you're trying to prove.

  • he said MALE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL

  • nor did it mention what condition the eland was in when killed. Finally, that dead antelope in the water is a kudu, not an eland.

  • Mate, I’ve looked at some of your videos and some of your comments are ridiculous. Saying that lions don’t have a chance against an eland is crazy. Eland are big animals, no doubt, but if prides of lions are able to hunt elephants in Botswana, then eland are no problem. Leopard are much more efficient killers when alone than lions, but prides of lion can and have hunted anything. Your second video doesn’t make mention that the leopard probably killed the eland at night.

  • yet lions kill leopards.

  • lions,tigers,leopards,jaguars, i love big cats but i'm a realist, a 1500-1800lb Kodiak

or Polar bear will completely ANNIHILATE any big cat

  • kudu ass big difference

  • leopards are better at climbing so it would follow that they are better at climbing and staying on top of larger prey as well, even though the lion is stronger

  • Thats not an eland at the end. It's a Kudu....Good try though.

  • it's d matter of how to get to the throat first. any type of Bulls stand no chance even Cheetah manage to get to their throat

  • Actually you are sort of right. Leaopards are mush smaller. But pound for pound they are more efficient than lions. However, lions are capable of taking down full grown bull elands. Success in hunting has all got to do with sunlight, shade, surprise, time of day, mood of both lion and eland.

  • Great distraction and great vide0!! thank u webmovietube

  • "freequently"??? Hmmm, I don't think so.

  • the leopard can jump it from above and get the neck quickly

  • Wow i have watched tons of documentaries on african savanas but never heard about the Bull Eland . Whats up with that ?

  • By the way that animal that the leopard killed is not a eland . Eland are much bigger.

  • Comment removed

  • first of all, a leopard will never hunt an animal as big as a bull eland. even 3-4 female lions find a bull eland a tough animal.

and the picture of the leopard kill near the end with a hyena, that was male greater kudu btw not eland.

  • WHEN THEY SAY HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO KILL BULL ELAND THEY MEAN ONE OR TWICE THATS ITS BEEN RECORDED NOT FREQENTLY YOU DICK STOP MISS INFORMING EVERYONE

  • What a load of bullshit typical Americans with their know it all atitude, yet they know nothing about African Wildlife

  • Useless garbage. Don't post any more videos, or anything else for that matter.

  • This is Bullshit.

  • holy fuck that eland is huuuuge

  • A Lion is substantially stronger than a Tiger.

  • @hoyfanofboulder have a gudnite wid ur non-sense

  • There is one and only KING in the jungle . Stop making childish comparisons

  • Tiger is ultimate beast unlike lazy lion brat leaving on female pussy eater

  • so bullshit leopard dont have chance to take bull elands

  • Gold Chain - such all-or-nothing thinking is currently in vogue but disastrously wrong. Example: a 1400 pound Siberian Brown Bear is dead meat if he fights a 600 pound Siberian Tiger. This is pure rubbish. But surprises do abound: a dairy steer with horns will send a 500 pound lion packing more often than not. When species are closely matched, to insist that one will always defeat the other is bad logic and bad science. Some of you need to hit the books and learn a little more about animals.

  • LOL what are you? A leopard salesman or sumfin!!!! hahaahah who cares tool!!!!

  • leopards are efficient killers but they just dont have the mass or strength to take down a bull eland which is why this video is stupid and just talking nonsense.

  • at 1:50 the animal killed by the leopard is a male kudu not a bull eland post some real video or pics of a bull eland killed by a leopard male or female i dont care.

  • I recently returned from Kenya after studying/working there for a year. I worked in Maasi mara and Nakuru. Leopards can take down a full-grown eland bull, but it is rare. Very rare in fact.

  • Big prey like this takes the whole pride, including the male lions.

  • what a pointless comment at the top,I think lions would have a much better chance of killing an eland than a leopard, unless of course ts one of those huge madagascan leopards?!!!?!!!

  • If your logic is pushed to its extreme, then one leopard call kill a pride of lions, yet there is copious evidence that a leopard will run from a single lion not even fully grown. The point is that in nature these leaps of supposition are simply wrong. A

single warthog can and often does kills the lion that attacks it, yet leopards also

attack and kill (and are themselves killed by) warthogs. The point is, in these struggles to the death, nothing is carved in stone, anything is possible.

  • check /watch?v=INOflR-UeWo

male leopard steps into 4 lionesses leftovers a bit too soon...

  • pfft a full lion pride can take on some of the smaller elephants which are bigger than the bull eland....just saying

  • Pretty sure "Has been known to kill bull elands" does NOT equal "kills bull elands frequently"

  • Male lion is busy fighting for territory.

  • I bet a lonely tiger or a tigress woul kill it very easy, fuck lions and leopards tiger is the greatest feline in the world !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @1:52 That's not an Eland... it's a Kudu (horns are spiral).

  • @1:52 That's not an Eland... it's a Kudu (horns are spiral).

  • I fail to see your point. Are you just trying to prove that leopards are better than lions? Because that's really sad.

  • another retard speaks

  • 1st of all a male lion is 3times stonger than female...and male lions are built 4 fighting rather than hunting.....leopards are the strongest cats if u compare by size....

  • i the last shot that was a kudu not a bull eland, watch the horns

  • @scaflyr9967 exactly right, the kudu is much slighter than the eland

  • leopards are far more agile than lions

  • Pound for pound, meerkats are much more capable killers in Africa.

  • Lions will eat male leopards for dinner however, just a fyi.

  • @CyaSpaceCowboy Ive seen footage of a leopard male fighting off and injuring 4 lioness'. In nature there are no hard and fast rules. Leopards are highly adaptable animals and are the most prolific of the big cats. They are found all over Africa in all terrains.

  • It was a kudu not an eland in the last shot.

  • Whoa :O That thing is giant :O

  • Dis vide is a total waste O' time and conveys all da wrong info dats there. What the male leopard killed was neither an Eland nor a Kudu - its a baby Giraffe. End Of Debate

  • @hunkyudi You missed the commentary ;) But you're right, it's comparing a male leopard, which hunts much differently than lions, to female lions.

  • @hunkyudi Yes but at the end it shows a pic of it killing an eland, and also the narrator said so...

  • those were inexperienced young dumb male lions. mufasa woulda killed that thing with no problem.

  • @bcsROBBERY Those were female lions, and adults.

  • im sorry but..this video is stupid...male tigers are more aggressive than the female lions..so maybe the female lions dont stand a chance..i do not know lol

  • I love leopards, but this is a stupid video. It wasn't a lion PRIDE, it was two LIONESSES! If a male leopard can take it down, a male lion can as well. You can't whine about leopards being mistaken for leopardesses, then compare a leopard to lionesses.

  • but a lioness is still bigger than a leopard !!!

  • @apharot even a male leopard and a female lion is an uneven match , a male leopard weighs between 90 and 200 lbs a lioness weighs between 300 and 400 lbs

  • @apharot ???dont u know male lions dont even do the hunting???leopards are jus faster and more agile creatures...

  • @shanebrain Male lions CAN hunt, and DO hunt. The females are the ones that usually initiate the hunt is all. Male lions have to know how to hunt because at some point in their life, they are on their own when they are kicked out of their pride.

  • @apharot ???dont u know that male lions dont even do the hunting?leopards are more agile creatures...whether it be male or females...

  • @apharot male lions wouldnt bother running after pray so that wouldnt realy happin i know that male lions can help in hunts vs buflo but othere pray no way

  • @babaganabal Yes way. There are times when male lions are on their own. They have to know how to hunt. Everyone seems to think male lions are lazy layabouts. The fact is that they can hunt, but with their manes, they are easier to spot by prey animals. Male lions are not inept.

  • @apharot you're an idiot. Its the female lions that do the hunting. get off the computer and go read a book.

  • @apharot One thing about leopards are that they're highly intelligent coz they're solitary, don't have lions speed so gotta plan ambush properly and are not as big & strong as lions so they really train themselves to hunt. And that ambush from the tree can even chase off a male lion just coz of the element of suprise.

  • @apharot Actually Lionesses do most of the hunting. Male lions are far less effective hunters.

  • @apharot No male lions can't hunt worth crap. That is why lionesses hunt and male lions don't. Male lions are big and powerful, but are really there just for mating. Leopards are successful hunters because they are smart, while lions use sheer force.

  • The kill by the leopard want an eland it was a kudu

  • male leopard MAY kill a female lion

  • I dont think so.

  • @ZS6JMP it will man it ismuch bigger than female leopards and stronger too

  • I will ask the question, have you ever seen a male leopard or even a leopard in real life and secondly have you ever seen a lioness in real life. My guess is no. Male leopards are smaller than lionesses and will bugger off if challenged by one. Get your facts straight. If you want I will get you a number for a game warden in the Kruger national park and then he will tell you the same thing

  • @ZS6JMP YES i have seen a lion and a leopard in real life. and yes a lioness is bigger (duh) and lepopards will usually flee if confronted by a lioness coz they do not want to risk injury but if it stands its ground the fight can go either way and i did not say male leopards will kill a lioness i said it MAY kill a female lion

  • yeah it is true

  • at min 0:41 the bull is like

    'fuck you asshole'

  • It's all about costs and benefits. Animals won't take a chance on prey that can injure them unless they are very desperate. A simple broken leg or open wound can mean certain death, particularly for a solitary hunter.

  • By lion pride you mean two lioness?

  • elands are fast and can jump really high it's surprising because they are huge

  • same with warthogs, solo leopards kills warthog, but lionesses known to have troubles killing the warthog even if they hunt by twos.

  • leopards have trouble to kill adult warthogs too.

  • leopards are the ultimate bi cats but lion are still the greatest of them all

  • In some areas, lions regularly prey on elands.

  • Leopards are amongst the strongest Animals, a adult mal that is, pound for pund, not just Cats, deffinitely P4P its the strongest most powerful cat, though the Jaguar, I think, has the strongest p4p bite of any cat. I noramlly dont dont buy into the fueds between lion lovers and haters on Youtube, some so so dumb truth told.. but this one is so biased and wrong it hurts. Leoprads eat ANYTHING big enough but dumb enough to be hunted.. Ellands are no favourite.. and 'all the time.. plain wrong

  • I am afraid the statement at the top of this video is incorrect. Eland definitely doesn't make part of a leopards normal diet. Eland is simply too big.

  • ur thinking of a head on fight but the leopard kills with stealth so the leopard gets up to it jumps and gets it by the neck and game over

  • Have you even been to Africa or seen a leopard up close. Yes it is still a big cat but much smaller than a lion but eland isn't on a leopards menu. They rather go for baboons or impala. It is also worth noting that lions hunt in prides and leopards are solitary hunters. It is sort of like putting your high school bully against Fedor Emelianenko.

  • size dosnt mean much it counts on how powerful the animal is and leopards are very powerful and male leopards can take down a eland if they want to

  • well..fedor might avoid the fight by going to another organisation

    haha

  • You're wasting your time with a known tiger fanboy.

  • Lions lack the same speed as a leopard and Leopards and lions are 2 different cats

  • leopard use bjjitsu, so yes they can submit elands.

  • @selfalready

actually its the other way around, the jag has the most powerful bite. so its more of a swift crushing of the neck. THey're total ninjas, surprise attacks with a deadly first strike.

  • they didnt even show both the lions chasing the bull 0_0

  • Oh, please. It's different hunting methods. Leopards stalk and sneak going for a neck bite before the prey reacts. It could never win out in the open. Lion Haters, not Tiger Fans

  • exactly

plus the video states the eland had over 1000lb, which is "only" a 1/2 ton

  • @Poptartwizard34 Tigers are the most powerful cats. Its proven.Though i would still say it depends on one's skill.

  • Goldchain13: These animals do not kill to ascertain supremacy or for getting wealthier (like we humans do). All they need is a good meal out of it. If its too much of a risk, they won't do it. Its all about the right moment. The leopard killed the bull eland as he probably had his moment. But I feel you really like wildlife; hence I would suggest you should try and understand the animals first before letting your own biases come into play. Clearly, you don't like lions or lionesses :) Good Luck!

  • Author of this video is ridiculous and probably 10yrs old.

One documented eland kill by a leopard is stretched to something that happens all the time, while denying lion pride can take it down too when they are known to kill bufallos...

    GoldChain13, you are retard.

  • oh shit, he is 23, now that is sad

  • yeah but common elands can get 2000 lbs. thats heavier than a buffalo

  • 2000lbs is actually the same weight buffalo has. Common Eland weighs up to 2200lbs.

But my point is that eland is not common prey for leopard while for lion pride buffalo is. (So much for the b/s GoldChain13 wrote in the description.)

  • well that is true, but one or even two lions won't usually mess with something as big as an eland unless they have more help. leopards are solitary and don't depend on each other to take really large prey and it did say on tv that pound for pound the leopard is the most capable killer and to kill something 10-11 times its weight like a eland proves that the leopard is the strongest cat pound for pound

  • i'm far from underestimating leopard... seeing how this cat drags its prey onto a tree is pretty impressive

  • well goldchain13 isn't completely lying, a leopard can get 260 lbs, there is even on video of a 280 pound wild male leopard

  • This photo may not show leopard with eland. However leopards have been known to kill and even drag an eland up a tree

  • I don't think that was a Bull Eland in a pond, it seems to be a male Kudo on which a leopard or leopardess was sitting. Kudo's horns are different than the Bull eland.

  • Wow, the author of this video sounds like a geek. Thanks, dorktube.

  • who wins against heyena oh yeah that right the lion. The leopards have been known to kill bull eland lions have been known to kill elephants. so what

  • Lions have not been known to kill elephants, they've been known to run away from them, you get that if you pay attention to most footage with to two animals.

  • yeah what like 20 lions at night let me tell you, thats very impressing. yeah right!! thats not near as impreesive as a single leopard killing a near 2000 pound eland

  • Oh yeah, guess what khers57122, lions needed a pride of 25 individuals to take down the elephant. And still, the elephant couldn't see, since it was dark. Elephants have bad eyesight at daytime, so think about how it is during the night. And leopards only occasionally kill bull elands. And that's from them getting the jump on their back from the trees and suffocating them with they sharp teeth, however, a head on battle with a bull eland will result in a dead leopard pretty much every time.

  • What is the point of this video? Both cats have their advantages.

Tigers are easily my favorite big cat though.

  • LION KING OF THE BEAST FOR EVER.

  • haha "king"? cmon that's for children, everybody knows the elephant is the most powerful animal on the planet.

  • idiots who never grow up from stupid fairy tales are the ones that turn into hardcore lion fans.

  • Well JuanPa, technically, the blue whale is. One smack with that tail and it could probably kill 2 elephants or a whole pride of lions in one blow. :P

  • haha! I knew someone was gonna say that.

First of all, I said "the most powerful ON the Earth" I mean on the ground, whales are under the ground, in the sea.

Second of all, that fight couldn't be possible because if an elephant go into water he possibly sinks and dies; and if a blue whale go out of the sea ...poor whale is gonna die instantaneously.

    Greetings from Peru ^^

  • Comment removed

  • NO, when someone says on Earth, they mean the planet Earth, so technically, you're wrong. You only use the term earth for soil or our individual planet in the solar system, not for terrain. And thats not true about whales dying instantaneously......... Whales can survive hours, to days, on land, depending on how heavy they are, but that doesn't mean they cannot use their tail when they first get beached. They are mammals that breathe pure air.

  • They can stay on land longer than fish, unless its a fish like a lungfish, which has primitive lungs, and can go into hibernation for 6 months, until the wet season returns. And if you were referring to animals that live on terrain, then include the 10,000lb Tyrannosaurus rex, or the massive Argentinosaurusm, which could get over 120ft long, and weigh 100 or more tons.

  • @JuanPaBJxGothic elephants can swim

  • steven seagal is the king of beasts

  • oh really?

  • Male and Female are not the same ,male is designed for protection* (agression, agility and patients) those the charataristics of a male. Females are just sexy lols

  • Um, my bullshit sensors are going off.......... This guy that owns this account is very biased towards lions and hyenas. A bull eland would be much larger, than what the leopard was carrying in its mouth. That was a baby giraffe, and the one in the water was a kudu. So many stereotypical people on YouTube. Trust me, I wish I could have a leopard as a pet, however, I wouldnt have the money to have acres of land, fenced in for him to roam. The thing is, nobody knows their limits.

  • This guy, on this account always makes it like hyenas are pathetic animals, along with lions and other animals. He is not scientifically correct, in any way.

  • that may be true that it wasn't an eland but animal planet even says they prey on elands sometimes, and they don't just get on tv and lie

  • the animal in the water is a kudu, not an eland.

  • yeah what he said

  • leopard is only 1/3rd the size of a male lion

the leopard izza powerful cat but lets not overstate their power. they usually don't go after very large prey as they are solitary hunters and cannot risk serious injury.

  • male lion can take around 3 to 4 female lion and still win

  • This is a stupid vid. An attempt to catch a prey by the lions is considered as if they don't stand a chance against a bull Eland? Bull Eland is obviously huge & tough to kill, but they're fast too. Are you forgetting that lions also hunt & kill buffalos? Buffalos are even tougher & stronger than bull Eland, unluckily they run very slow. Failure in hunting for the lions mainly due to the fact that they're not the fastest hunters on earth, which is a major disadvantage for these lions.

  • Lions are only good hunters if there are 50 lions vs a single newborn.

  • So, are we to believe then that the leopard is more powerful than a lion? What's your point? You don't think a lion can make a throat bite on a full grown eland - ever? WAKE TFU! Were do all the idiots come from on Youtube?

  • haha so damn right thats just crazy how many kids on youtube can waste time on arguing which one between tiger and lion is the best cat. I'm just AMAZED so funny :)

  • I love the obvious bias you have toward the Leopard over the Lion with "Leopards kill Male Elands frequently" where as the guy on the documentory states "They've been known to kill full grown male Elands". While impressive im sure it's not a frequent occurance and lions in large numbers have been known to bring down hippos and lions. So im sure if push came to shove, they could take a Eland if forced to.

  • African leopards don't prey on adult elands frequently, the leopard has been know to prey on adult elands or even young giraffes; Mainly African leopards prey on gazelles and other small and medium sized animals.

  • That ´s is not a eland dude, it´s a kudu, see the horns and compare. By the way, instead of zebra bull is zebra stallion.

  • I am a Tiger fan but that is absoloute crap. there is no use in making up lies that YOU know are a load of crap.

  • I agree 100%

  • probly becasue they didnt catch it...

"A sigle leopards has BEEEN KNOWN"

    key word been known...

just becasue theres one account of a lion failing an attempt to kill it doesnt mean they cant...saying a leopard can and a lion cant...thats just stupid..wake up to yourself and stop hating on lions

  • exactly, now goldchain13, show me the video of this so called eland killing leopard. not just a pic that could have been a croc kill. and if that leopard is so strong. show me the video of it defending its kill from that hyena

  • watch?v=NcT2mm3j8s8

    ^

Merry Christmas. An btw I can upload a 100 videos Male of Leopards defending there kills from single hyenas. Problem is, I have no beef with hyenas. An it was documented 16 times a leopard killed a eland when documenting the leopards hunting habbits. Theres videos of leopards killing elands and bull zebras not online. I just have to shell out some money and rebuy them.

  • that vid doesnt show what the man was asking for....

    theres no point making lies,,,

  • so what leopards are weak? if they are so weak why don't you go out in the wild or in the leopard exhibit at the zoo and fight with one, watch how badly you get your ass whipped.
