Assange reckons that the Arab Spring revolutions never used Facebook or Twitter because they are heavily monitored. Repressive governments want people to use these sites so that uprisings can be quickly stamped out.
i am a great admirer of Chomsky, but he misled on what he "famously said" about US presidents and Nuremberg. Just search on "If the Nuremberg laws were applied" at google.
@prosmurf The internet is much more than a diversion. If left open and free it may well be the last true democracy. Government's understand this too well and often shutdown or control the internet. In the case of the Egyptian and Tunisian uprisings against US backed tyrannies, the internet played a major role in giving voice to a benighted people. Communication has never been faster or more robust in human history. Its not a trivial matter.

He has a fine sense of when to press a point, and when to just let an interviewee do their own thing.. which in Chomsky's case is never a bad thing. This wasn't meant to be about Noam personally, this was meant to be about his thoughts on the uprisings in the middle-east/north africa. It certainly wasn't meant to be a debate.
The war in Iraq is still going don't buy the propaganda. They brought in 100 thousand mercenaries and then took out 50 thousand combat soldiers. Then labeled the remaining troops non-combat.
