As can be seen here, the A-pillar is not the only thing which influences crash safety. Intrusion of dash, steering wheel and pedals is important as well.
the 1988-1996 Europe-2000 South America Renault 19 was assembled in Douai, France Maubeuge, France Taichung, Taiwan Vilvoorde, Belgium Valladolid, Spain Palencia, Spain Setúbal, Portugal Envigado, Colombia Mariara, Venezuela Santa Isabel, Argentina Bursa, Turkey
Looks pretty much like the Mégane I crash test, with the difference that the steering wheel moves differently in the 19, maybe because airbags weren't standard back then. Do you know if there were changes for the 1992 model? I'm thinking about getting a 94 argentinean 19.

AirBags were not used back then... I have a renault 19 from 1994, and the car still doesn´t have airbags... It doesn´t even have ABS....
But still, it is a lot of fun to drive, remeber allways Drive Safely! :)

This car looks pretty safe, considering that was made in the 80's! What was the speed in this crash test? 64km/h?

@rafaelpereira87
This was 50% offset and 56 km/h as Megane had 40% offset and 64 km/h.
Meaning that Megane did far better in the test.
