Well put man.I have some crazy expensive guitars and gear and for some things I will go to a 300.00 guitar because it works the best for what I am doing.I believe 80% of ones tone comes from the individual and wht works for him/her in what they are doing.Dont get me wrong good gear is important but its just a tool, true tone comes from within.BTW good job.
I gave you one thumb up because I'd say you're 98 % right.
Working hard to become a good luthier and working in tube amps I can ensure you better woods sound better and better pickups sound better. So is it in amps too. However, you sometimes can be lucky with a cheap guitar you fit good pickups on.
Appreciate that, and agree.Anyone that's been playing long enough will surley hear the difference between woods,p/up's,and speakers.I know throughout my shredding yrs Basswood and high output p/ups/amp's were the only way to go for me but as I am doing more Jazz/Blues and country now days Alder and mahogony guitars with lower output p/ups work much better. This may not be the case for everyone just what works for me and my rig and approach. But yeah woods do have alot to do with tones,
One thing hasnt chenged since I found them though is Celestion V30 greenback speakers.I have those speakers in all my cabs.Very versital speakers that in my cabs with my rig sound amazing. The GB's just seem to tighten everything up nomatter what olume,or saturation levels. They are my speaker of choice for any MG,B,birch cabinet.Very tight speaker that comes standard in I think the Legacy cabs.
@jp6l6 Don't forget good amps, a 200 buck guitar through a marshall plexi will sound better than a gibson les paul custom goldtop through some thrash phoenix-starterpack amp......
@jp6l6 So I see, forgive me, I just woke up on a saturday afternoon so I'm not that bright yet :)
Right now I'm deciding wether to get a new guitar alltogether or just put different pickups in my current guitar....... My friend's (highway 1) Strat with EMG's sounds absoluteley superb......
Hard to beat for 220€. Sound quality is top and if you can live with the lack of proper in and out volume control, it's a perfect all-in-one solution for Reverbs, Delays and Modulation FX.
Thanks! As mentioned in the description, it's an RC Booster, which is in front. Gives a bit shimmer and harmonics to the tone, but not a drastic effect as it's been used in quite neutral settings.
great tone, and you have some tasty riffs happening, but i would suggest being aware of not over playing... the extra notes that you're putting in disrupts the flow of the phrases. Check out Scott Henderson for some lessons on phrasing.. he's awesome. Like i said, great tone, and good feel. Do you like the Shiva or the Einstein better?
Very nice playing indeed. Love your tone and phrasing. Epiphone Les Pauls are just PHENOMENAL guitars if you get into the upper level models. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful video of your playing.
damn............

How would you compare the tone of the Einstein to the VH4? I am looking at both of the amps as well as the Schmidt? Thanks for the great post! Kirk

What would your second set of Bare Knuckle pickups? If you were to buy more.
PrsFenderJackson1980 2 years ago
$4000 Diezel...and a $300 Epiphone??!?!
thekg 2 years ago 2
This is Europe, so it's a 1900€ Diezel and a 550€ Epiphone with 300€ pickups.
I love that guitar with these BareKnuckle pickups, no matter what the price tag.

@RJW14 I've a Strat Highway One upgrade and I fit Lindy Fralin's on it and that sound very good too.

@jp6l6 I can imagine.
If I'd ever get my hands on a les paul I'd fit the LF p90's in it..... Still the best sound I've ever heard from a guitar.

@thekg It would sound a lot better than a 6,000 les paul into a 300 marshall.

What is the white box on top of the amp and are you running it in front of the amp or in the loop? P.S. great playing and tone!!!! Thanks
