I find it odd that the people with the intellect to understand this video's point are most likely the individuals that SHOULD be reproducing... it's sort of "preaching to the choir". Survival of the fittest determines that anyone with the intellect to understand your logic, should therefore exempt themselves from the theories and ideas that are manifested by it. We have no right to be the ones who decide the fate of everyone else. Although by your theory, the meteor may take care of that for us.
"where is the catastrophe?" ...in the late 1700's from the King of France's palace, sitting in front of a warm fire with plenty of food, it was easy to say the same.
law of nature... "explosive growth is always followed by abrupt crash" (12:40)
we have had abrupt growth as never witnessed by our species before, its our turn to crash. Cant worry about stopping it, that would be against the laws of nature. so maybe we just use them nukes and help getr done.
By the way, even if you think Science can solve it, you may want to look into population control anyway, because you might not like the alternative, most of the sustainable famine solutions, are vegetarian rations, and bugs. Bugs are easy produce in mass quantities. So you might want to start pushing population control before your breakfast, lunch and dinner are supplemented with ground up beetles.
What was the saying? "Those who do not approve of artificial population control, like abortion, sterilization and contraceptives, are in favor of natural population control, like famines, and plagues.
I totally agree and i have 5 siblings, i would have been happy with just 2 but religious women are stubborn she felt that it was gods will and i disagree completely. When the going gets tough the nukes will start flying, the diseases will get worse and thats not a solution. You can nuke africa but it won't solve the problem in the long term then who do you nuke next? you have to make world laws enforced by the militaries you cannot have more than 2 children if you do no resources.
The problem with "the mother of all problems" is that the people who should see the video, never will. In western countries we're having something like 1 kid for every 2 people procreating, which means the population is actually decreasing. At the same time, we're seeing something like 8 kids on average, for every couple, in third world countries. Compounding that problem, is the fact that we who don't need to see this video, see it, and those who need to, can't. I guess that's why it's a cycle!
@dsbrimstone Whenever someone mentions population control everyone panics the conspiracy theorists come out of the woodworks and claim Illuminati wants us all dead and Fox News spins their ahead as Joe Biden recently said he could understand China´s one child policy.
we just have to admit China is far better then us right now.
@izaccy Well at least china is more aware of overpopulation, and they are trying to do something about it. I wouldn't want to live there tho, cuz they are no friend of human rights or free speech, etc. It is fair to say that they have made a lot of progress, but they still have a way to go. What gets me about the US is the right wing takeover of government and media. I can remember when the left dominated at least the media. Somehow the word liberal was made into a dirty word. Dammm it!
@wespeakforthetrees Yes you are absolutely right about the issue China got with Human rights.
my brother in law. works for the American embassy in China, and i was having a conversation about him on that issue, he also used terms as horrific, danger to society on their human rights policy.
But as a science geek as i am, often nothing surprises me, but your video was really an eye opener, and i favorite it.
Did you hear about the right wingers booing gay soldier, on yesterdays debate.
@ LemUUU Sust. development, agenda 21, codex alimentarius, read it all. Every country has a negative replacement rate. Riddle me this, if I choose to not be sterilized and want to have more then one child, what is done in your eugenics utopia? Yeah, I am a whack job because I believe in the human species living up to its potential. How many times do we need to be told that global warming, ah, climate change will destroy the earth in 10, 20 ,75 yrs? U r the whack job Hitlerian Eugenicist.
@WhoIsTheSpider Let me repeat, cuz you seem to have peanut butter in your ears. All I want is for people, not governments to VOLUNTARILY Choose, not be forced, to use birth control to SLOW DOWN, not stop having babies. No eugenics, no forced strealization. BTY I am on nobodys payroll, I WORK FOR A LIVING, I vote. I don't plan on killing anybody. I feel bad for all those people who are starving. Oh and yeah, global warming is real enough, get with the program. Don't forget to take your meds.
@wespeakforthetrees 99% of those in a position to listen to your video are in an area that already has zero or negative population growth. The developed world does not have an overpopulation problem. Our problem is not our breeding, but our charity.
Your assertion that "population always rises to meet food supply" only rings true among the ignorant, unwashed masses of third-world countries. The U.S., Japan, the U.K., etc. these places have nearly unlimited food, but AGING populations.
Chemtrails and genetically modified organism and Kimira cross species organism are not the problem with our earth. Its the Carbon I breathe that gives life to the plants and tress which in turn produce oxygen for me. So are you looking for the recomended death count that the Georgia Guidestones suggest or should we just release bio weapons and destroy all humanity who cannot afford bunkers underground and non gmo seed vaults in the arctic circle? Gia Bless you!
@WhoIsTheSpider dude, you are whacked the fuck out. Quit listening to Alex Jones for a bit. No one who suggests that there are far to many people on earth to be sustained are talking about immediate global depopulation. Through the use of new technology and good planning the earth can be sustainable for thousands of years. At the current rate of growth, and gross negligence towards using the planets resources the human race has a couple hundred years left before destroying itself.
So how many people would you like to kill? Gen. modified foods, chems and spraying of the world with alluminum and barium are the problem, reaction is a fat dumbed down population and the solution is murder. People like me think that God created all of humans to reach for the stars and the global oligarchy wish to remove our ability to feed, shelter and travel effortlessly. So yes, my mind is made up that I am not a slave and should not be considered cattle and a scourge on your God, Earth.
@WhoIsTheSpider I don't want to kill anyone, I just want people to use birth control to slow the birth rate. Get population growth to stop, so we won't all die of famine. I'd like to avoid murder, forced stealization, genocide, breakdown of civilization, and extinction. We must stop growth voluntarialy before nature does it for us. I'm against all that polution obviously, it's bad for all of us. I agree we are fat, dumbed down etc. which is mostly laziness on our part. Our choice.
Whatever, Eugenicist talk about everything you are here. Study Agenda 21 or Codex Alimentarious. We have plenty of land to grow crops and harvest animals but world wide we have companies like monsanto genetically altering seeds and scientist genetically altering animals. Through taxes, regulation and a war on the middle class the global oligarchy have made it their goal to destroy human kind and your video points out the propaganda they use to kill people all over the world.
@WhoIsTheSpider Thanks for your comment. Your mind is made up. Nothing I say will change it so I won't bother to try. Good luck!! About the land, yes there is tons of land, like the mountains, desert etc. but it won't grow crops. Water is short. Oil is short. War is likely. And people like you miss the important facts and focus on the background noise. Genetically altered food is one of the reasons we haven't already had world famine. You and I have eaten it all our lives. Peace!
I always have an issue with food production only being talked about as the continuation of our agricultural practices. Aren't "we" working HARD to create lab food - food that can be created in massive quantities in industrial plants in hours instead of farmed in normal quantities from farming fields over the span of several months? To me it always sounds like complaining there won't be enough wood to make wooden wagons, so a transportation crisis is imminent. We can make something new, can't we?
@godthisisannoying Thanks for your comment. Yes we can and probably will move to industrial production of food. More food yields more people. How many do we want? 14 billion? The consequence of too many people is death of the ecosystem that sustains us. That is happening now. Point is, we cannot grow forever in a finite system. More of us lowers everybodys quality of life in the short run, leads to our extinction in the long run. We must choose. Family planning or extinction. Up to us.
In 1971 the population of the US was approximately 240million. If world population double every 40 years, then why did the US's population only increase by 70 million in that time, and half of that through immigration. Surely, if there is any nation where the access to food is plentiful and cheap, it should be the US. What is it that prevented the US from reaching these apocalyptic world levels, and can they teach other nations how to achieve the same results.
@jackdeath Good point, and you are right, things are different in the US. Specifically the availability of birth control, education, and a womans right to say if, when and how many kids. True in general of "first world countries". Things could be this way in the rest of the world if we get the word out. We could go to zero population growth, but to do so we must stop feeding and immunizing the world without also providing education and birth control.
We need two things, education and thus self esteem for the women in the world. Hopefully they will realize there is more to life then being walking uteri.
And a birth control pill for men would also be nice.
so would you suggest we "be the change"? wouldn't that result in the people who know that there is a problem and that something needs to be done about it getting reproductively out competed by the '300 babies' people? wouldn't it be more likely to succeed to assume that the crash is going to happen, and try and figure out how to (as a species, possibly as an individual) survive it?
there is _no way_ you are going to convince people not to have sex, for the reasons you pointed out.
@Bobboau I truthfully don't know the solution, my main purpose in making this video was to point out the problem,(already known) and the fact that we aren't doing enough about it. I don't want people to give up sex, I want them to use birth control, which many would if it were available. We don't have to stop having babies, we just need to slow the birth rate to equal the death rate. It is obvious if we just keep feeding starving people without providing birth control nothing changes.
I worded that last line poorly, when I say "have sex" I mean procreate. as you yourself mention there is a rather strong biological (and quite often cultural) imperative to do so, and even if you manage to convince half the world not to have kids, all you have accomplished is pushed the problem back by 25 years, and then you will have a higher portion of the population hell bent on having kids. it's a problem where the only apparent solution causes it to get worse long term.
@Bobboau Thanks for the dialog. The "problem" isn't ever going away. We need a shift in our morals, kinda like it used to be ok to smoke almost anywhere, and in just a few years later it's banned in many places. Or beating your wife and kids. Used to be ok, not it's not. Having lots of kids was the norm in the US just a generation or two ago. now it's not. We need that to happen in India, Indonisia etc. We are connected by commerce and charities. It could happen.
@Bobboau BTY thank you for watching and commenting. As to my goal here, I want to start a public dialog about the problem. American polititions won't even admit to climate change, much less population explosion. They will if we make them, and to do that we need to become aware and concerned. This is more than quality of life, this is about survival. But the most important audience is overseas, India, China etc. They have to become aware and change. The more voices, the better.
Well done! I wonder if you have read The Omnivore's Dilemma. It's a disenchanting glimpse into the industry of food in North America. I believe it ties in well with the theory that we grow enough food to feed everybody.
