  • when my mum died, i was driving thru the sunny hills in Clarendon, Jamaica

this song among many was playing in the car, it blessed my soul,

  • OMG...just classic right here.

  • heads up... we are all going away one day whether we are ready or not. I like to think I'm one of those ready. Oh! To see HIS face and walk and talk with the elders. OH happy day!

  • One day we will all go away .....but you have a choice with Jesus or without Jesus . You choose . Don't blame a church or religion or a Pastor or Priest when you wake up in HELL.It is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Dear GOD forgive me of my SIN and heal me within I recieve Jesus as My Savior .Amen !

  • This song is in memory of Darnell Allen RIP

  • My favorite Walter and Love Center Choir song. Listen to the way the music blends throughout the songs. It is really something. Especially for the early 1980's. The Hawkins were in a league by themselves with the choir music. Only Andre Crouch could match them in innovation at the time.

  • One of the greatest gospel songs ever written. Who wants to see the face of Jesus, free from hell on earth? I do, but until then we must fight the good fight of faith!

  • Hallelujah, soon and very soon we are going to see the King...

  • This makes me remember my mom who passed away Feb. 2009. Thanks for posting

  • This song is not about giving up your life or considering suicide. It's about you going to heaven you home when He says it's your time to go. Not you yourself. If you believe in the Lord, you will have an everlasting life. John 3:16. If you have done the best you could here on Earth at an older age, He will be waiting for and take care of you. That includes if the doctors gave up on you. Don't get me wrong. I have listened to this song several times and still understand what the song is about.

  • Bestow your blessings here on Earht before you leave!!! Thats Gods Plan!!

  • One day all of God's children will be together, I will finally get to see my Aunt Deborah and my Nana again.

  • Every time i hear this song its remind me about my mother passing on January 6,2003 from obesty and went going to her grave site they played it at the furneral i was crying and till this day im still crying.R.I.P Walter Hawkins and R.I.P MOMMA.

  • Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of HIs saints. Rest in peace Bishop Hawkins. We love you.

  • I really love this song...thanks for posting it.

  • My Mom went home to be with Jesus on september 25 2011 amd my cousin sung this song at her homegoing her last words was trust God and she slept aiway. My whole life has changed and all I do is what she said to do trust God becuse my heart has crumbled into little pieces its hard to deal with I love you mama

  • suicide is a pernament solution for a temporary problem. It should not be an option. Problems come to make us strong.

  • Missing my mother who "went away" Feb. 19, 2009

    Love you mom

  • could someone please tell me when this album came out...thx, in advance...

  • @smush48 1978.

  • @LoveForSure82 You're right my young friend...it was 1978. How have you been?

  • MISSING MY SISTER WHO WENT AWAY ON JANUARY 17, 2006! TEARS....

  • rip brother Walter Hawkins you are truly the Father of Comtempary gospel music

  • I remember going to church in my friends car. They always played it, and the church sang it. This is one of my favorites. Whenever I am down and hear this song. My spirit get lifted. I have hope. That nothing is going to separate me from the Love of Christ. Goin to a place prepare just for me (and You)... There will be nobody there to put me out.

  • This meaning of this song is to leave here VICTORIOUSLY!!!! AND THAT IS WHEN JESUS CALL'S YOU HOME.....JESUS CAME THAT YOU MAY HAVE LIFE AND HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY.....YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE YOUR OWN LIFE..WHATEVER YOU ARE GOING THROUGH..I AM A LIVING WITNESS THAT JESUS CAN WORK IT OUT...JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE..JESUS LOVE'S YOU SOOOOO VERY MUCH..IT MAY NOT FEEL LIKE IT NOW..JUST HOLD ON! HE WILL COME THROUGH FOR YOU....

  • He sang this song and one he did go away but not just a place but to my heavely father's. Pastor Walter still missing his voice and all the love of Jesus he brought in my life through his music. Jesus, Jesus bless your name.

  • This song is WAY before my time (I'm 21 now) but every time I listen to it I close my eyes and think back to all of my relatives who have left this Earth. And it encourages me to live the way God would want me to live so I can join them in heaven as well. Thank you so much for posting this! I have been inspired for the day!

  • Wow. I love this song B. Slade sampled this in a song he did called Going away as well

  • I started listening to Walter Hawkins last year, and I been hooked every since.

  • Every time I think, sing or hear this song I think of my sister, who went "away" last year. It brings tears to my eyes. I miss her so, but I know she is in that "Heavenly Choir" waiting for me to join her one day! Love you Dee!!

  • I was 18 when this song came out in 1978. I liked it from the VERY FIRST TIME I heard it! Love Alive II is still one of my all-time favorite Gospel recordings, and my personal favorite from the Love Alive series. Each Love Alive 1-5 has at least one song that I like (maybe more); but I like EVERY SONG on Love Alive II.

  • @friendofman I was the same age when this came out. I have been a fan of this family for years. I ditto your remark. :)

  • wow i rember this song, i had went home on vaction mississippi back in the day. and my sister and her mom was pg at the same time and all they did was fighting i walk in the woods sing this song and could not wait to get back to chicago

  • Edwin and Walter both have beautiful voices as different they are. They will forever remain pioneers of gospel music. RIP Bishop Walter Hawkins!

  • Definitely one of my all time favorites...

  • Definitely one of my all time favorites...

  • I remember this from when I was a lil boy, my momma used 2 listen to it..Im 29 now :-) born and raised N the church :-)

  • My Dad used to sing along to this song and as he was what I thought was old I used to laugh at him - he didn't exactly have the same style as Walter! I can hear him singing along and thank God for the memory as the Lord took him to his rest in 1999. Thanks for this

  • I remember when this album came out. It was so far ahead of anything else that was being done in gospel music- it stunned the gospel music world in late 1970's. I think that Love Alive II was the greatest work that Bishop Hawkins ever produced.

  • @LoveForSure82

i am , & it is thee perfect song for ME when considering suicide .

  • @11shan23 why would you do that?

  • @11shan23 I don't know you, but I'm not happy that you're considering suicide. Whatever the problem may be, it won't last forever. Pray and read your bible. Just reading a simple verse can bring you much comfort. Don't hurt yourself. Your pain right now fails to compare to the pain you will be feeling if you succeed in committing suicide.

  • @11shan23 I'm praying with you. Don't forget you belong to God. He put you on this earth and delights in you accomplishing His good will and glorifying His name. Don't rob Him or us of what you have to give. NO ONE else can give what you're here to give. No one. Hang on and don't give up.

  • @11shan23 here's a scripture for u 2 read: Psalm 139...because with all the flaws u may think u have, all the things u think r unbearable ...U r fearfully & wonderfully made...& that's a fact! U r not hidden from God & He loves u just like u r! Don't think of destroying something that God & I think is an awesome expression of God's love. He took time 2 create & put u here on earth..Look thru God's eyes & see urself. read this verse & if you ever want to talk, email me at micjoh37@yahoo.com

  • @11shan23 I pray that all is well with you and that God has or will deliver you from the spirit of depression and suicide. I pray that God gives you peace, love, joy and happiness. JESUS LOVES YOU!

  • @11shan23

Trust me JOY will come on the Morning..thats what Walter Hawkins' has oreached and portrayed thru his Ministry..This song has a toal denamic power upon people that are going thruogh things in their life,,But it does not give you the excuse to quit!!!

  • Perfect Song If Your Considering Suicidee .

  • @11shan23 No song is perfect when you're considering suicide. I hope you're not either.

  • @LoveForSure82

Beloved where would you go? At least here you could pray casting that care....

  • wow I love this songW One of the Best of all times. Lady Dy

  • This song brings hope to all Christians as well as unbelievers. We're not staying here forever. Just like Walter Hawkins went away, one day it's going to be our turn to kick the bucket. We should go away with the expectation of being with Jesus. This flesh must die, but our soul will spend eternity somewhere....

  • The two "Love Alive' albums may very well be the best Gospel recordings ever made, in my humble opinion...

  • this is one of my husband's and my favorite songs

  • i want to go away...but i just cannot...cos i love her so much even if she hurts me every single day and makes me cry.

  • my school choir is doing this song in our concert. My favorite part is 2:56; I'm not even that religious but that's the power of black gospel to move anyone to tears

  • such a powerful song. 2wks after my father passed away i had to dance to this song, well i don't have to tell you what it did to those that understood it ! the photo that was taken of me didn't even look like me. R.I.P Mr. Hawkins.

  • Anybody know where I can get the lyrics to this song?

  • this song brings me to tears every time i hear it.

  • soon and very soon we are going to see the king

  • I was there for the live recording and believe me, it was a mindblowing, spirit-filled experience that I'll NEVER forget! Oh, by the way, that brotha you hear hollering in the aidience syaing "Yeahhhh!" all over the album..... That's ME!

  • @bynumga -amazing, you really contributed to this album & you weren't even singing !

  • @bynumga -you are the most blessed man on this earth to have been there. Is Joel Smith-the drummer and bass player/nephew of the Hawkins family not the most talented musician ever? Your "YEAAAHHS" also makes the record worth listening to!

  • Love Alive II is such a part of my soul. This song always moves me to tears.

  • He went away but not far, miss you Bishop Hawkins love your music it touch my heart and makes me cry sometimes.

  • Oh My! I'm in TOTALLY in TEARS right now! I've been searching for this song FOREVER! Thank you and God bless you for posting this! =)

  • This song takes me back to the first days of my salvation, I was young and on fire and didnt realize what I had. All I know is that I was happy in the Lord and that's all that mattered. This song and others like kept me motivated and centered on this new life that I was attempting to lead. I thank God for Walter Hawkins & the Hawkins family for letting God us them in such a GRAND WAY!! RIP and God Bless You Walter Hawkins, you are greatly appreciated & you will be greatly missed!!

  • That new Tonex joint where he sampled this joint is too dope...

  • @TheLarryWilson What song? And why?

  • @LoveForSure82 It's called "Going Away" and it dropped a few days ago... Not quite the same context of this song, but still a well-put together song. It actually brought my attention to this song. i never followed Walter Hawkins, but this song is beautiful.

  • @TheLarryWilson After I hear it, I'll be back to tell what I think of it.

  • @TheLarryWilson where did you hear it?

  • my uncle sings this in church alot wow it moves me

  • ...it just hit me this genius is gone away.

  • Give me 4:50 and beyond. That always got me through when a loved on has gone on to glory. I could imagine them as excited as the Bishop in going to a place where there's no sickness, pain, stress, you name it. The run in this song is crazy anointed-thank you Bishop for such powerful songs like these that set the stage for other singers to go all out for Jesus.

  • I had just left home for college (very strict Christian home environment) I got to partying-and like Edwin said...I was headed somewhere else.....at all the night clubs in D.C. and Maryland. Well , the Hawkins music "took me back to my religious roots" and i got my life back together again....not like humpty dumpty sitting on the wall. Something got a hold of me and I asked "What is this.... " I find it so amazing that Tramaine didn't let the divorce affect this total "God effect".

  • It is 2010 - this song is still bumpin. Let me tell you something when they first cut this song in 1970's it was a mindblower- We hadn't heard anything like it along with "Be grateful" it was so cutting edge that you would have had to be around to really appreciate what this singing meant to gospel music in late 1970's early 1980's

  • @jimboedwardlee ...brotha you hit it right on the head. The HAWKINS Family were way ahead of their time and they were and are still the GOLD standard for gospel music hands down!! God Bless you Bishop....RIP.

  • This song makes me want to see all those who have gone on before me, my grandparents Herman Goins Sr., Robert and Willene Beasley....my parents Elder Herman and Diane Goins....host of other relatives and friends.....It wont be long, someday we'll all meet again! I Love you Papa, Da, Ganney, Mommie and Daddy! Daddy, you always told me tears are alright, and im crying now.....I know your better off, but i wish i could hear your voice!

  • Bishop Hawkins will be miss so much. THis song really touch my heart and the first time that I heard it tears roll down my face. As I listen to it now tears still flow for Bishop Hawkins I loved his music. And he did go away but not far we will see him again.

  • What a awesome song, for an awesom man Walter Hawkins, thank you for the many songs that you wrote and shared with the church & the world. I'm Going Away was my favorite! You are in that special place with JESUS, you will be missed on this side, but JESUS has a better place for you! Heaven has more beautiful music, now that you are there!

  • I have a most vivid recollection of a specific spiritual crossroad which I faced when this song was recorded and released. I sang this song night and day, until I moved onward and upwards in my salvation.

  • Rest in peace you have gave the world a gift of beautiful song! thank you!

  • The music is just soothing.....

  • This song touches me in a special place everytime I hear it! Simply beautiful!

  • I was twenty when I first heard this Song. The Job I was on was in the process of layoffs. When I got laid off, it took me over a year to find another job. When I was broken hearted, spirit just broken, felt like a failure, no hope for the future, THIS SONG, and many other Gospel songs helped me through. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for Songs like this, that helped nurture my broken spirit.

  • @determination9995757 I feel u, been out of work since Sept. 2009. Like u I listen to certain gospel songs and it starts my day. When I wake up in the morning that is me and God's time. When I go out to look for work there r days I feel this is the job for me, God says no, not now u r in season but I have something better for u. I start school 9/1/2009 to study CNA, then LPN and finally RN. I am 57 years old and I am not afraid. U C, I never loss my PRAISE. Keep me n your prayers.

  • @ILOVEMUSIC2MSV gret testimony

  • May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to watch over the Hawkins family and I'm sure that angels are guilding Bishop 'Walter into the heavens. RIP my brother in Christ

  • My Mother Mrs. Grace Ginn (Edwards) played piano while your brother Danny played organ at Bishop Stewart's church back in the day. While the world has lost one of the greatest singers, composers and entertainers of all time, Heaven has gained one more angelic voice. It is a privilege to hear Mom speak of the great talent of the Hawkins Family and an immense honor to have a Mom who knew you.

Our deepest condolence to the Hawkins Family as we all mourn and celebrate Walter's return to glory.

  • RIP my brother - your music has been truly a blessing to me over the years. My choir sang many of your songs - my brother was the lead singer to this song many years ago. Blessings and comfort to the family. He will be missed but not forgotten.

  • What a beautiful consolation we have that we will go away , soon & very soon going to see the king, it won't be long, someday we'll meet!

  • Amen to that. I grew up listening to his music. It still encourages me today.

  • @MissTish76 Your statement is so true.

  • Wow another gospel music o see soldier gone up to Heaven. I hope to see him in Heaven

  • MY MOM USE TO PLAY THIS SONG A LOT WHEN I WAS A KID.. AND IT WOULD TOUCH ME EVERY TIME.. WE'RE ALL GOING AWAY.. QUESTION IS WHERE ARE YOU GOING? I KNOW WHERE I WANNA GO.. TIME TO GET OUR LIVES RIGHT.. LIFE IS TOO SHORT. THIS SONGS BRING BACK MEMORIES.. REST IN PEACE WALTER HAWKINS.

  • Walter Hawkins and Family ARE THE GREATEST GOSPEL SINGERS OF ALL TIME. Pastor Hawkins and family set the tone for every choir thereafter, not one choir has not sampled, sang or even dressed to anything but the Hawkins family. I LOVE YOU Pastor Hawkins! My life is what it is because of this family as well as my own. My own father the Pastor whom I LOVE.

  • @jafeda1 I agree- I like the Winans,Richard Smallwood, the Clark Sisters, and Kirk Frankin but the Hawkins Family and Love Center Choir are really the gold standard. How did so much talent come in one family and then they added Tramaine through marriage -divine!

  • This is an incredible song and to hear Bishop Hawkins sing it gives me comfort that he is at rest and at peace. God rest your soul, Bishop Hawkins!

  • I'm certain the Lord will say, "Well done good & faithfull servant...", enjoy your well deserved reward Bishop!

  • Edwin & Walter on lead.......legendary!

  • Blessed are they that die in the Lord for the rest from their weary and their works shall follow them. Another Gospel Legend has gone to sing in God's Heavenly Choir. RIP

  • R.I.P. Walter Hawkins....you are there now. Glory to God for sharing you with us!

  • I love this song....No more pain, Pastor Walter Hawkins.

  • Thank you Lord for for Bishop Hawkins, I will miss him so much. • RIP, Bishop!! You will be greatly missed!!

  • Gone but never will be forgotten. This song helped me so much when my grandmother passed in 1982, I will always love you Pastor! RIP.

  • The elite of his genre. THE BEST IT HAS PRODUCED. I would be remiss if I did not say his music BROUGHT ME TO CHURCH MUSIC. He brought class to gospel music. What a discography!

The industry has always been hesitant about giving him- AND HiS FAMILY --the musical credit they deserved. That's a shame. I was able to meet him and let him know how much his music meant to me.

Our prayers are with the 1st FAMILY OF GOSPEL. His songs will last forever.

Thank God for this Special Gift!

  • Wow I can't believe this I just listened to this song a few times over the past 3 days and I also made it my favorite. May he rest in peace.
