I saw the protest and it was not peaceful or lawful towards the end. There is a limit. You can protest outside my property but you can't trespass or come in my home with it.
Simple. Instead of burning down your own neighborhood, killing innocent people, and misusing freedom, use the law of the courts. That is not giving up freedom, you do not have freedom to run amuck. You have laws which you must obey. Both parties will tell you that. Protesting at a convention will not get anything done. Why didn't they protest at the DNC too? They are hypocrits!
That is so not the bottom line. Benjamin Franklin once said those who give up essential freedom for an illusion of security deserve neither.
The laws are there for all the people of the country. We The People have been tear gassed for peacefully exercising our inalienable rights. Daniel, how can you possibly believe that is acceptable behavior for a democratic republic?

There was a lot of different protesting going on. I wouldn't make such arrogant generalizations.

Bottom line; President Kennedy (D) stated that "citizens are free to disagree with the law, but not to disobey it."
