  • I'm glad to see this Sub class continuing to be built. i was part of the 'lead crew' as an Outside Machinist on the USS SEA WOLF SSN21 at Electric Boat in Groton CT.

  • USS Texas SSN 774, making it a Virginia Class submarine. Built in Newport News VA

  • Nothing better than US Military Technology.

  • Is this ship Virgina class ? Or it's smaller?

  • Class Seawolf

  • That's a Virginia Class there bud.

  • What a giant! I know attack subs are much shorter than boomers, but this boat looks impressive! Run silent, run deep....

  • Don't mess with Texas.

  • I shot this at the entrance to Galveston Bay / Houston Ship Channel. It was a very windy day and there was thick smoke from a controlled burn in the area.

  • Why would India need a SSBN? It really a matter of economics and, we all know that India is full of American economic experts. For India to Design, build, train and place into operation would not make economic sense.

  • How long would it take, who ? ...India to build a SSBN, well ...lets think about that. United States has spent over a Hundred years and, hundreds of billions of dollars doing just that . It takes a building full of engineers ten years to design a new submarine class. In most cases the submarine is already outdated when the first of its class is being launched. Submarines are also enormously expensive to maintain and, require highly trained specialist to bring them to operation.

  • Actually it's been longer for us to get the SSBN, don't forget the submarine essentially started for the US in the civil war, CSS Hunley. Also if it wasn't for the ability to look over the German WWII submarines, especially the late war ones, we may have just been coming upon the hydrodynamic designs that we have today. So yes I agree, if India was to build a SSBN it would take them quite awhile, at least for one that could compete with todays militaries.

  • hooyah my new home! :)

  • A question to US naval experts. How long will it take for India to build high tech SSBN's? thankyou.

  • You mean a SSN don't you? A SSBN is a ballistic missile sub.

  • they still should have built more seawolf class subs, the 688 flight 1 ships would already be retired by now if they did.

  • you mean the pier wolf...that thing spends more time in port for upkeep and maintenance than any other boat in the fleet

  • New Virginia Class SSN
