some great tips there mate and alot of good info from others.

My little thing i do is to use 1.25lt or 2 ltr fizzy drink bottles as slow self watering containers, basically cut the bottom off leaving the cap end, leave cap on, poke a few pin holes around cap, poke into soil at the base of a plant and water into the container, that way your not wetting the leaves and you can even use the base to raise seedlings.

I use a gallon milk jug as my water can.I just took the lid off and got a sharp tack and poked a lot of holes in the lid.Makes a real nice watering can.

Another great idea for those plastic bottles and fruit juice bottles is to get a fork heat it and put holes in the lid. It makes a great watering can for seedlings as the flow is soft and doesn't damage the plants .

To get rid of slugs in your garden you can put stale or old beer in the bottom of a plastic jug, put the jug with a little puddle of beer on it's side in the garden with the lid off. The snails go in and don't get out!

The other big on is to have a worm bin. Great way to get rid of kitchen scraps & you'll get worm castings for the garden.

You can have different types of insects that will eat your waste and then you can feed them to the animals. Start a mealworm colony, feed it chicken manure then feed the mealworms to the chickens.

Black Soldier Fly Larvae are great too! They'll eat stuff you can't put in a worm bin (meat, oil etc) and the flies aren't pests. Just be sure they are native to your country

The other big thing I see in the garden is using newspaper to keep the weeds down. Just plant where you want then put a layer of newspaper, about 4 sheets thick, all over the top of the soil. Tear the paper so the plant can come up through it. Cover the entire thing with a nice deep layer of mulch and you have some great weed protection. You can use cardboard instead of newspaper if you like. The newspaper will break down by the end of summer.

You can use two plastic containers that are the same size, like 2L soda bottles, to make a self watering plant pot. Cut a couple of holes in one, run some string through it. Fill the second one with some water then put the first into it. The string should be in the water but the bottom of the bottle shouldn't be. This way the water will wick up the string to the plant above. Add some potting mix and a plant and voila - it water's itself.

I keep the top on my cherry tomato and strawberry containers - it acts like a little green house for the seeds planted in the bottom part.

I cut the bottom 3 cm off of a cereal box and use that to keep my toilet roll tubes in while the plantes grow. this can then be put in the compost bin afterwards.

I've seen 2 liter soda bottles and plastic milk jugs being used for seedlings. Use the bottom 1/3 to grow seedling (poke holes in bottom) and put top 2/3 over top with lid off to act as a greenhouse. Keep lid off so there will be air circulation.
