  • 1861...1996...hmm, I guess it is interesting the music used for the credits

  • Teach me the title of second music! Is it NBC original theme song for 1996 Olympic Game? I really was encouragged by this theme song while I was hopitalized in LA ,United States due to heavily injury.

  • @lovenegara The second song is the main title song from the American Civil War movie, "Gettysburg". It is the first track on the music album called "Main Title", by Randy Edeleman.

  • @julius923 Thank you so much for your informing me of name and composer of this great movie main title. This is realy realy impressive for me. Thanks again.

  • hahaha everyone who is saying that atlanta was the worst olympics ever are just jealous citizens of U.S. cities that could only dream of hosting the world's largest sports competition. Atlanta did an AMAZING job. Biggest reason? Almost every venue constructed for the games is still in use today in 2011 unlike most cities that host and are left with abandoned stadiums. and the way atlanta responded to the bombings was remarkable. Great olympics! Atlanta 1996!

  • Kerri Strugg!!! F*** YEAH!!! USA!!

  • I believe this was the year Kerri Strug defeated the Soviet Union and restored liberty to the world whilst saving America from UFO's.

  • 7:53

    WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH CHICKUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN HRNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGH

  • 5:53

    WWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH CHICKUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN HRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH

  • 1996... wow was i 4 years old lol

  • 1:48 i lol'd

  • Funny how all of you out here say this was the worst Olympics, yet why is it that the London organizers were looking at the Atlanta Olympic model when they made a bid for the 2012 games? Why did other bid cities study Atlanta as the model for their games and not Greece or Sydney or Beijing?.

I will tell you why, they do not to spend millions for structures that will never be used after the games. How really great were the past 3 Olympics when it left debt and abandoned structures.

  • >and, before that, Bob Costas' goodbye.

Ryan, this part put me in the men's room.........

  • Kurt Angle is a wrestling god!!!!!

  • 2:30 The biggest moment in Norwegian sport history!

  • That was beautifully done.

  • Outstanding. I love that they used "Gettysburg".

  • Loved how they played Beethoven's Ode to Joy and showed the highlights of the games of Atlanta in the closing credits. Wish NBC would do this after every Olympics.

  • Comment removed

  • Not way too short, but most or all of the people were listed. Even a copyright statement at the end, which makes it more like it's going to stop finally. Anyway, the credits for Seoul '88 ran for 23:28, which was very long. NBC covered that. The credit roll actually ran for 4 minutes, preceded by a classy montage, and, before that, Bob Costas' goodbye.

  • Too short a closing credits list; 8:03. I know there HAD to be more people working on the production of the XXVI Olympiad in Atlanta 1996. The credits for the XXIV Olympiad in Seoul 1988 run for 23:28!

  • 2:45 Kurt Angle wins with a BROKEN FREAKIN NECK

  • Thank you for posting this and reminding us what a wonderful Olympics the Centennial Games were. WOW! Well done: ATLANTA! I was at the closing ceremonies.

  • is this beethovens 5th or 6th?? I get confused.

  • Neither actually, it's from the 4th movement of his 9th Symphony.

  • Handel's "Messiah."

  • Anyone know where I can find the closing credits from the Beijing Olympics?

  • 2:44, Claudia Poll wins Costa Rica's first gold medal ever! I was 12 years old and I cried when I saw this. Claudia is by far the best swimmer we've ever had in CR and that day will be remembered forever in this country. The flight that brought her home after the olympics took a few loops around the country before landing, so that people from the ground could make thousands of little mirrors shine against the sun for Claudia to see them

  • 2:44

    Its True! Its True!!

  • Sydney was the best IMO

  • I have to agree with this. Even tho I am a proud american, Sydney did a better job over all, course now they have all those old stadiums collecting dust

  • What a great Olympics, too bad for Chicago. I guess it's Rio 2016. I wonder if NBC will continue to broadcast the Games after 2012.

  • Atlanta was the Best Olympics ever.

  • Minus the Bombing yes it was

  • @NebraskaFan77 Atlanta1996 worst olypics ever!

  • @cardenase thats your opioion

  • @cardenase um....i'd have to say 1972 Munich with the massacre of the Israeli team was the worst ever, followed by the 1936 Nazi Germany Games. and what makes you think Atlanta was so bad, besides the bombing?

  • @LMA629 People thought the Atlanta Olympics were too commercialized which they said wasn't in the spirit of the Olympic games. But this was after all the 1990's when things were good and people were living large here in the USA. I sure miss the 90's.

  • @NebraskaFan77

Generally recognised as a poor Olympics. Notable how IOC chief at the closing ceremony never said it the best ever Olympics as traditional.

  • so many memories! summer of '96' these were the best games ever IMO.

  • I was very sad when this ended. I was 10 years old and still loved Atlanta- though I live in Arkansas

  • who's the man crying at 5:03-5:08?

  • Matt Ghaffari

  • Randy Barnes

  • can you say Roids?

  • kurt angle at 2:46

  • yes

  • what is the music for the last 10-15 seconds. Its not part of the "Gettysburg" soundtrack. Any thoughts?

  • It is..I believe. And I believe that is Muhammed Ali at the end (aka Cassius Clay).

  • At 2:46 i see Kurt Angle on this vid awesome Kurt Angle Living Legend Hall Of Famer not only in the olympics But in WWE And TNA and That IS true Its Damn True

  • the title of first song ???please !!!!!

  • See up at the top on th right where it says "more info" click on it.

Music includes Beetoven's "Ode to Joy" also known as Symphony No. 9 by Beetoven.

  • @julius923 do you have Sydney closing credits?

  • I've never seen this...very kool...sad in a way too.

  • Who is the gymnast at 4:01 to 4:09?

  • Li Xiaoshuang I think x

  • All Around Gold Medalist Li Xiaoshuang

  • wasnt mccartney supposed to be singing imagine?

  • I love watching the summer olympics i've watch everyone of them since 1984 the 84 opening ceremonie took place on my 12th birthday.

  • Thank you for posting this, and all the other Olympic footage you have as well. The closing credits for '96 are some of my favorites. I love that they used "Ode to Joy."

  • I remember when the came to Atlanta the torch ran in front of my house I was so happy and I think that's when I really fell in love with the Olympics. that was twelve years ago and i remember it like it was yesterday.

  • Long after the closing credits had rolled, there were still a few thousand athletes on the field, dancing and having fun. It was a very heady moment. Iraqi athletes, American athletes, Australian and Canadian athletes, all mingling as one. Africans, Europeans, Asians, Indians and people from the Americas.

It was hard to comprehend that the games had ended so quickly after they had begun. I worked for ACOG at the Olympic Stadium and it was the best job I ever had. I even got paid for it!

  • Someone record the 2008 Olympics and upload the ending credits too.

  • These are the moments that NBC can be proud of. WHen the olympics come to town you know you're going to need a cleanex for each and everyone of their montages.

  • what does hail holy queen have to do with the olympics?

  • I'd agree with those who say that TV is a veritable wasteland, but evey once in a awhile a producer with come along with some insight and heart and create a sturring and inspiring remembrance of some aspect of this life journey. Such a remembrance is the incredible combo of Olympic memories and inspiring music that's displayed on this video. I love the Olympics. I love the music. I love what they stir in my heart ... TOGETHER. Thanks so much for the posting. Virgil Hilts (Albany, Ohio)

  • I remember watching this when I was 9 on tv.. and for some reason after watching all the other olympics after this... I remember this closing the most.

    thanks for putting this up!

  • yes , that was kurt Angle

  • was that kurt angle at 2:46?

  • That is some powerful stuff right there! Thanks for posting.

  • Nothing less than awesome - bow down!

  • This had me in tears. I LOVE good music....

  • This particular music had me in tears as well..that Muhammed Ali at the end there? I always watch the credits on the last day.

  • I always enjoy seein the credits. Always thought i was the only one. Its touching to see people in unity.

  • Oh I had totally forgotten these credits were done to the theme to "Gettysburg". Great music to do the credits to.

  • Do you have the 2004 closing?

  • I would love to see the 2004 closing credits if anyone can post it, I would be one happy camper...I can't find the 2000 one either. I would be extremely happy if both of them were posted!

  • I have em. 2004 and 2008 opens and closes. Expect them on my profile soon - within the week.

  • Sweet.

Do you know how I can watch the montage that they aired at the end of Saturday Aug. 23's daytime broadcast? it had chris brown's "dreamer" before transitioning into three doors down's "champion in me."

  • IDK about that. And anyone that uploads US content from NBC Universal, A) choose words carefully, or B) don't upload. They blocked my vid.

  • you have the ending credits? nice.........

  • yea, but don't expect em on here. Look on my other account on Veoh (OTownNews) and Dailymotion (theTVzone).

  • i love WHOEVER posted this. thanks a million

  • I agree!

  • wow, this broadcast was very biased, all the people you see in this compilation that had success were american

  • Take it up with Dick Ebersol, he told us to keep it American. Who could blame him? NBC broadcasts to America. Hopefully the BBC made their closing montage full of British winners.

  • It WAS the AMERICAN broadcast on NBC. (in america)

  • lol best answer ever.

  • its too bad that the world doesnt measure up to the idea of the olympics.

  • you got that right, the olyimpics are meant to be a time of world peace, even through the darkest of times

  • where is the 2000 olympics closing?

  • This is so moving. One of the best olympics ever.Lots of great moments!! Thanks for posting.

  • I came across this by accident tonight. This is an incredible montage that, 12 years after the Atlanta Games, still strikes a chord within my soul.

  • Muhamed Ali what a great Moment to the olympic Play

  • This is always a sad moment for me when they run the closing credits and then they play Ode to Joy. I always start to get a nostalgic feeling even though the games have only just ended. It's not like any other sporting event because you know you won't see another olympics for another 2 years. At least it's not like it used to be when you had to wait 4 years.

  • Nothing like the Olympic Games. 11 years later, and this clip is still awesome. Perhaps one day I get to see the Olympics in person...

  • I was SO sad when this was over- I guess being 10 years old at the time and in a city I had recently visited, it meant something to me. Still kinda brings a tear to my eye every time an olympics ends.

  • Only the most elite and best male and female athletes from nations all over the world compete at the Olympic games.

  • I was there that night! Something I will never forget. Does any one have a full copy of this closing ceremony?

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. It is so beautiful and moving. (I cried through it all!)

  • gail devers and gwen torrence at 4:35 classic moment.

  • The second score in this is SOOO powerful!!!

  • That's from Randy Edelman's "Gettysburg".

I wondered about that score for years. It's moving.

  • Thankyou for knowing that score. I have been trying to find it since 1996.

  • All FOX was ever good for was NASCAR coverage.

  • right on brotha

  • kurt angle at 2 .45

  • Whoa, ur right. I keep forgetting that he not only competed but won like three gold medels at the 1996 Olympic games. And then he went on to win every title in the WWF/E and become King of the Ring. He was is a WWF/E legend. If Bret Hart was an America he would be Kurt Angle.

A lot of people didn't think that he could make it as a professional wrestler because his whole background was olympic wrestling but he proved a lot of people wrong.

  • Can you upload the part where the Australian flag is raised and the Sydney handover... I already saw the Sydney segment in these Games...

  • Nigeria whopping ass in soccer!!!!

  • Wow i never thought 1996 would seem like a good time in american history we had alot of bad stuff going on then. But now in 2007 we have terrorism war huge job losses and a horrible economy and all kinds of crap that makes then look good .

  • 1996 was golden. George Bush ruined America. I hate him.

  • does someone have the 1992 olympic closing credits? I cant find it on youtube

  • I can no longer imagine the Olympics without Bob Costas. He's the new Jim McKay.

  • do you have the 1988 introduction where they show the various olympic sites.

  • who is that man they keep showing crying? at 7:30 they show him for a while and i see he is a track athlete, but who?

  • The man they showed crying was decathlete Dan O'Brien, who won the event that year.

  • Dan O'Brien....remember Dan and Dave from 1992.

  • Julius - Do you have the OPENING credits to NBC's Atlanta Olympics coverage? It was done to Neil Diamond's "Coming to America" and was truly inspiring and spine-tingling in the anticipation it generated.

  • Yes. Do a search using the term, "1996 intro opening ceremonies". Clips I have uploaded are in sequential order if you click on the video response from me, julius923.

  • thanks for this

  • Yes, Beethoven's 9th, what a way to end that great display of humanity.

  • On to Sydney 2000!!!
