Teach me the title of second music! Is it NBC original theme song for 1996 Olympic Game? I really was encouragged by this theme song while I was hopitalized in LA ,United States due to heavily injury.
@lovenegara The second song is the main title song from the American Civil War movie, "Gettysburg". It is the first track on the music album called "Main Title", by Randy Edeleman.
@julius923 Thank you so much for your informing me of name and composer of this great movie main title. This is realy realy impressive for me. Thanks again.
hahaha everyone who is saying that atlanta was the worst olympics ever are just jealous citizens of U.S. cities that could only dream of hosting the world's largest sports competition. Atlanta did an AMAZING job. Biggest reason? Almost every venue constructed for the games is still in use today in 2011 unlike most cities that host and are left with abandoned stadiums. and the way atlanta responded to the bombings was remarkable. Great olympics! Atlanta 1996!
Funny how all of you out here say this was the worst Olympics, yet why is it that the London organizers were looking at the Atlanta Olympic model when they made a bid for the 2012 games? Why did other bid cities study Atlanta as the model for their games and not Greece or Sydney or Beijing?.
I will tell you why, they do not to spend millions for structures that will never be used after the games. How really great were the past 3 Olympics when it left debt and abandoned structures.
Loved how they played Beethoven's Ode to Joy and showed the highlights of the games of Atlanta in the closing credits. Wish NBC would do this after every Olympics.
Not way too short, but most or all of the people were listed. Even a copyright statement at the end, which makes it more like it's going to stop finally. Anyway, the credits for Seoul '88 ran for 23:28, which was very long. NBC covered that. The credit roll actually ran for 4 minutes, preceded by a classy montage, and, before that, Bob Costas' goodbye.
Too short a closing credits list; 8:03. I know there HAD to be more people working on the production of the XXVI Olympiad in Atlanta 1996. The credits for the XXIV Olympiad in Seoul 1988 run for 23:28!
Thank you for posting this and reminding us what a wonderful Olympics the Centennial Games were. WOW! Well done: ATLANTA! I was at the closing ceremonies.
2:44, Claudia Poll wins Costa Rica's first gold medal ever! I was 12 years old and I cried when I saw this. Claudia is by far the best swimmer we've ever had in CR and that day will be remembered forever in this country. The flight that brought her home after the olympics took a few loops around the country before landing, so that people from the ground could make thousands of little mirrors shine against the sun for Claudia to see them
I have to agree with this. Even tho I am a proud american, Sydney did a better job over all, course now they have all those old stadiums collecting dust
@cardenase um....i'd have to say 1972 Munich with the massacre of the Israeli team was the worst ever, followed by the 1936 Nazi Germany Games. and what makes you think Atlanta was so bad, besides the bombing?
@LMA629 People thought the Atlanta Olympics were too commercialized which they said wasn't in the spirit of the Olympic games. But this was after all the 1990's when things were good and people were living large here in the USA. I sure miss the 90's.
At 2:46 i see Kurt Angle on this vid awesome Kurt Angle Living Legend Hall Of Famer not only in the olympics But in WWE And TNA and That IS true Its Damn True
Thank you for posting this, and all the other Olympic footage you have as well. The closing credits for '96 are some of my favorites. I love that they used "Ode to Joy."
I remember when the came to Atlanta the torch ran in front of my house I was so happy and I think that's when I really fell in love with the Olympics. that was twelve years ago and i remember it like it was yesterday.
Long after the closing credits had rolled, there were still a few thousand athletes on the field, dancing and having fun. It was a very heady moment. Iraqi athletes, American athletes, Australian and Canadian athletes, all mingling as one. Africans, Europeans, Asians, Indians and people from the Americas.
It was hard to comprehend that the games had ended so quickly after they had begun. I worked for ACOG at the Olympic Stadium and it was the best job I ever had. I even got paid for it!
These are the moments that NBC can be proud of. WHen the olympics come to town you know you're going to need a cleanex for each and everyone of their montages.
I'd agree with those who say that TV is a veritable wasteland, but evey once in a awhile a producer with come along with some insight and heart and create a sturring and inspiring remembrance of some aspect of this life journey. Such a remembrance is the incredible combo of Olympic memories and inspiring music that's displayed on this video. I love the Olympics. I love the music. I love what they stir in my heart ... TOGETHER. Thanks so much for the posting. Virgil Hilts (Albany, Ohio)
I remember watching this when I was 9 on tv.. and for some reason after watching all the other olympics after this... I remember this closing the most.
I would love to see the 2004 closing credits if anyone can post it, I would be one happy camper...I can't find the 2000 one either. I would be extremely happy if both of them were posted!
Do you know how I can watch the montage that they aired at the end of Saturday Aug. 23's daytime broadcast? it had chris brown's "dreamer" before transitioning into three doors down's "champion in me."
Take it up with Dick Ebersol, he told us to keep it American. Who could blame him? NBC broadcasts to America. Hopefully the BBC made their closing montage full of British winners.
This is always a sad moment for me when they run the closing credits and then they play Ode to Joy. I always start to get a nostalgic feeling even though the games have only just ended. It's not like any other sporting event because you know you won't see another olympics for another 2 years. At least it's not like it used to be when you had to wait 4 years.
I was SO sad when this was over- I guess being 10 years old at the time and in a city I had recently visited, it meant something to me. Still kinda brings a tear to my eye every time an olympics ends.
Whoa, ur right. I keep forgetting that he not only competed but won like three gold medels at the 1996 Olympic games. And then he went on to win every title in the WWF/E and become King of the Ring. He was is a WWF/E legend. If Bret Hart was an America he would be Kurt Angle.
