  • Im already a mediocre player. If I wanted to learn this style of music what would be a few good and simple songs to learn to get the feel for it?

  • johnny bends notes places i've never heard anyone else go..what a awesome soulfull player..

  • Johnny is THE Man! however, wished he still played with his prs :(

  • Johhny, slam out those blues! Woo Hoo, Yee Haw skeeter!

  • Got that exact guitar. It's awesome! Compliments my Swamp Ash. Too bad he's not with PRS anymore.

  • @witchman1 well said brother. I'm gonna practice! HA

  • shame on that one person who Disliked this video!

  • It looks like those chubby fingers would make it impossible to play like he does. Huh! Doesn't seem to affect his playing one bit though.

  • @alan4sure Charlie Daniels, Malmsteen, Randy Bachman, Ed King (circa 1974) Bob Bennett all have chubby fingers and pick just fine.

  • Hey, Mr. slinkydinky999... Chet Atkins is dead.

  • No shit Sherlock

  • Johnn has a condition called "Nystagmus" which his eyes move involuntarily back and forth. He can't drive or read at all unless it's exactly at a perfect position in front of him to see it. He has to be guided around and is considered leagally blind. Other than that, this guy is the most versatile guitar player out now. He can do it all. Pick, tap, country, blues, bluegrass, metal, etc. I'd put him up against anybody in the business today. Satriani, EVH, Chet Atkins, all of them.

  • my new guitar hero

  • I know hes legally blind, but is it just me or are those inlays huge?

  • wow just great

  • Thanks for turning me on this this guy. He's awesome.

  • One of two things will happen if you are a guitar player and go see this man. Either you will go home and practice or go home and put your guitar under your bed and never play again.

  • to add insult to injury, pick up one of his custom 24's and try some of his flat picking scales. It goes without saying that i couldn't blame the guitar. (sulk)

  • I remember reading an article years ago in which Eric Clapton stated Stevie Ray Vaughn was one of the most impressive guitar players he's ever seen because no matter what he's playing, he's never lost on a guitar...I think that same flattery can be said of Johnny Hiland!

  • Johnny Hiland plays wayyy to many notes

  • Man he's amazing, so fluid!

  • the best country guitarist ever born is johnny :)

  • he's more than that! He's one of the best guitarists in loads of other genres other than country! lol i saw him live and he does everything from country to Van halen! amen to hiland!

  • I like Merle and Chet Atkins better, but Johnny isn't country in the strictest sense.

  • good god. this guy is ridiculously good.

  • I agree.

  • That's because he's the BEST guitar player on this planet!!!

  • thats good pickin
