this game has more holes in it's plot then a block of swiss cheese. i have seen a more complete story in the dreaded twilight series then this game.

Then again doom was more about the killing. and now that i mentioned the book of evil i must go cleanse myself with fire.

@Kikoskia The Plot has twists, turns and so much drama & a CHAINGUN & a CHAINSAW. This is William Shakespear & Uwe Boll material. Just think about the great DOOM movie... ;-) Nah, you're right - DOOM's legacy doesn't base on its "great" story.

I love how the barrels explode when shot, yet the massive boxes with "TNT" on the side do absolutely nothing, even when the barrels explode right next to them.

I saw a panel where the creators of doom described the plot using these words "there are monsters and they are trying to kill you".

I think Doom and Doom2's plot is fairly decent. The Final Doom plots are not really coherent or even canon as it is not an id Software created games, but, if I recall, packaged by id software after picking mods from hobbyists.

But overall, I think the Dooms plot is quite a Doomed plot. Marine fights his commander after an morally wrong order, then sent to Phobos to be battling demons, dies, in hell, home, everybody is dead, even his pet rabbit.

When you said "no one plays this game for the plot," I immediately thought, "Hey, I like the plot."

After reading the Doom Bible, I feel Doom has an excellent plot that is what you make it, which allows people to be creative and have fun with it. =(
