This is my favorite Meryl Streep movie of all time. She should have won the Golden Globes Best Actress for Comedy/Musical than Julia Roberts. Streep is funny in this movie.

Jumping around like you have St. Vitus dance isn't country music. Traditionally, they stand still and sing the song. Reason: Years ago, out in the country, people only put on new shoes to go into town maybe once a week for a Saturday dance. After walking to the high school auditorium, their feet hurt so much they didn't feel like hopping around. Check out clips of classic country singers (e.g. Hank Snow) and you'll see they stand still and sing. The emphasis is on the music.

My partner says she's one of the last few remaining "method" actresses which he explains it by saying she actually lives the life of her characters as she's doing each project. Simply elegant and so professional is mastering her craft.

We can all agree that this woman is unparalleled as an actress, right? (I think only Katherine Hepburn and Bette Davis are in the same category.) But when I saw this movie for the first time, I was stunned at how well she could sing. And she doesn't just "sing" this song, she freakin' nails it.

I used to dislike Meryl Streep, until I saw her doing Carrie Fisher in the fine movie- and this superior singing performance! She´s no professional singer, but she´s producing a great show. And it does not feel like acting, either - she´s enjoying every little part of it. Other singers may have sung the song better, but Meryl sure has earned the prize! Wow!

Haha...Meryl is a great actress, but her singing is absolutely terrible. This song is unbearable with Meryl Streep singing it.

Reba sings this song much better. She doesn't make make weird dying sounds, and although Reba doesn't use her falsetto when she does this song, Reba can actually do a falsetto worth listening to.
