He traveled with them, and lived in high style in Malibu. Of course he had girlfriends all the while he was married. He loved himself far too much to stay beside them all.

There are many rumors and stories going around but I think the main reason is that Pernell didn't agree with Bonanza and didn't like the direction the script was going. I guess the only one person who can REALLY tell us what happened is Pernell himself.

What a beautiful voice. I just saw this episode on tv - i had no idea Pernell could sing. I just want to keep listening to it. So sad we lost him last year. Rest in peace Pernell - you have a public fanhood that still honors you.

Ironically, the reluctant Cartwright was the one who lasted the longest.  Some actors jsut aren't cut out for playing the same role week after week. I hope he found happiness.

Wow! he could sing and he was a good actor some of the looks that he gave as Adam Cartwright were some of the best. he will be missed. My prayer are with his family and friends.
