When u reach the point of smoking could u soak them in dye instead ???

How would you suggest smoking a hide if you did not have a stove like that or were planing to do this out in the wild?

@ratler5 Make a tripod with sticks, and slide the hide-sock over that, well above the fire. that may work?

The uneveness "will even out with washing." You will take a further step and launder the smoked hide? Rinse?

i was wondering not sure if this question has been asked before but can you wash the hide right after smoking it? and also what kind of cleaning solutions do you use on them ? and thanks for the vid i subed....
