read the main info. the laser will go all the way down, up, then down. swap when it hits the bottom. just watch for when i swap it.

Just out of curiosity, where is your top? their is( some sort of ribbon or somthing) that is connected to make the PS2 power up why is yours not their? you siad Make sure to take the buttons out of the cover like shown or else you may rip the ribbon that powers them" but I dont get that too much =/ can you be a bit more discriptive?

This is interesting, but I hope no one has blinded themselves doing this. The laser is like a class 1 or 2 laser.....if you stare at the beam you can burn your retinas. You can become blind or seriously visually impaired. Glasses could amplify the effect as well. And for god sakes if you have a 30001 model , WATCH OUT for the power supply on the left side. You DO NOT want to touch it while you have your ps2 on. 120 volts is nothing to laugh at.

It works fine for me and everyone else. Don't knock it until you've tried it. If you are too mechanically retarded to figure out how to take some screws out and remove the cover, then yes, this will screw up your ps2.

you have to swap the disc every time but if you do it correctly you wont damage anything. i swapped it and played again today and it is still running like a champ after 5+ years and swapping. i put the lid on every time just to be safe, otherwise i would just use something else to cover it up to be safe.

No, not that I know of. I'm assuming that it wont work. Worst case scenario, you could burn it and if it didn't work, erase it. From my experience sony dvd-r's work the best.

I have personally used the slide card method and it sucks big time. It jammed up my disc tray and I had to take apart my ps2 to fix it. This method is free and easy and is still working for me. Just use common sense when taking it apart. Don't try to forcefully remove anything. There are 8 screws on the body and 4 holding the top of the disc tray on.

yeah man. i don't have it on video, but my lid snaps right back on into place so that i don't have to worry about leaving it open. i also taped up the buttons behind the ps2 and made a notch for the ribbon so it doesn't get pinched.

Are you booting it up with the original GH2? Try to play you GH2 without swapping and see if it still does it. If so then you have a bad disc I guess.

that's what happened to me and that's why i decided to try this method. if you take all the screws out of the bottom and just remove the lid, you can watch it and see what is messing up. just watch the ribbon that goes to the buttons and don't let it rip.

OMFG dude! That "BS" saves your ps2! By doing this shit it breaks your ps2 over time. Just spend 35 dollars on Swap Magic and save 200 on a new ps2 when it breaks.

It's been 6 months since I did this mod and my ps2 is still fine. Me or my friends play this at least once a day, so it has been swapped enough to stand the test of time in my book. When I swap it I don't sit there and hold the magnet still. Pulling it off really fast wont hurt the motor. The motor actually stops itself every other second once the disc is removed and if you have good timing you can swap it while it isn't even spinning.

Alright guys I burned a copy of gh3 and couldn't get it to boot up this way. I tried swapping it with the original gh3 disc and the gh2 disc. I'm going to keep at it and see if I can't get it to work. I'll keep you posted. If anyone has any other burned games, try them out and see if it works.

if you have a DVD burner, then just go download an iso and burn the backup of that. And no, this should work for ALL(!) PS2 games with any PS2 game, it's essentially the same method as swapping imports or backups of any other game, just without the swap-key step (since the case itself is removed as an obstacle, it's no longer necessary).
