Fallen from the nest? How old it was? Jackdaws leave their nest UNABLE to fly and care for themselves, when they very young and they just depend on their parents and this is natural! Please don't collect birds from the wild until it's really necessary. Glad the institute has taken care of them and released them later.
I have a baby jackdaw called Austin. He's about 6 or 7 weeks old, we found him 2 weeks ago and he's such a tame thing. he sits on my shoulder and eats from my hand :):)
I have one I found today. it was very week but after eating it seems to be feeling better. I want to feed it up a bit more and let it go were I found it. its very cute
it is most certainly a jackdaw, we brought it to a wild bird expert and - after six weeks time - we were allowed to set it out close to a jackdaw-colony nearby.
I would love to find one like this. There are many around here. There was a famous Witch who lived in the New Forest who had a pet jackdaw who used to sit on top of her head. His name was Mr. Hotfoot Jackson. :)
