The commentors below me know very little. There has been MASSIVE investment in the CBD as of late. Every single corner in centreal johannesburg is under CCTV surveillance with a less than 60 second police response time. Over R10 billion more is expected to be invested in the CBD by next year, EXCLUDING FIFA 2010 World Cup direct investment. Johannesburg is on the rise once more, and the crime stats further prove it.

I agree! Let's not forget Bank City, Braamfontein, The Civic Centre . . . and yes, even Hillbrow is improving. I worked in JHB CBD for a few years and part of my job required me to go into Hillbrow. Not the safest, but like every city in the world, some areas are better than others. People are all to keen to be sheep and follow one another without taking a look for themselves! All those negative posts are most likely by people who have not put foot into the city for years.

The places shown in this video are generally pretty safe. Far safer than Alexandra or Orange Farm. Not quite as safe as Cape Town, but still much better than the ignorant stereotype of South Africa.
