I was considering one for the /m or for /p.. Look OK.. maybe not a lot of 'Bell's and Whistles'.. but seem to work fine ! What was the Antenna.. 4 or 5el though..?

@Gudtime The antenna is a simple Omni-directional loop antenna, much like a halo. Basically a dipole wrapped into a circle... A very poor antenna at that. NOTHING LIKE A BEAM! I don't recommend this antenna, but if you want one, there is someone making them and selling them on Ebay. Thanks for watching and 73.
Assuming I get a tax refund this year... THIS is my year to finally buy this rig. I live in a valley near Atlanta Georgia, not a real deep valley or anything but, antenna selection is my only worry. Verticle, Dipole, who knows. I have a clear view towards the South, no hills or anything, so that ought to be interesting. I want a CW board too, it's finally time to learn. Thanks for this video, you sold me!
Hi Bob. I am VA3RFZ in Leslieville, Toronto. Just wondering about your antenna. I have the same unit, and built a braided dipole, which isn't working too well. I am thinking of getting another antenna, and I have limitations here at the house. I can hide an omnidirectional, or make some kind of directional in the attic. Your advice?
Very interesting. That rig and the horizontal loop antenna up at 40 feet seem to do a good job. QRP can be a lot of fun! I have never tried 6 meters even though i have been a ham since 1967! One of these days, I'll have to give 6 meters a try.
Thank you for the kind comments. FYI, I do have a second IDENTICAL MFJ-9406 that I am thinking of parting with. Let me know if you are interested. I will always keep one. I too have a IC-703Plus which I love as well. I am working on a series of 3 videos comparing the FT817 to the IC703.

The 9406 is really a nice radio. Surprising for MFJ stuff.
Still, I'm a QRP purist. 10W isn't QRP, but it's still fun.

6 is a great band, especially during the E-skip season (roughly April thru August).
Good little rig, but it's hard to tell what exact freq you're on. Does the 'fine tune' also affect TX frequency (as it should)?

Six Meters is the Best, takes patience-But Sporadic E,TransEquatorial & Backscatter are Awesome !!! 73s de KC5JAV (EM-40).

Very nice camera quality. I need to find one of these radios used so that I can have a 6 meter rig considering my non plus 6 IC 703 doesn't do 6.
Good working!

@PortableQRP Hi Bob, Did you ever end up selling your other 9406? If not, are you still thinking about letting loose of it?
Great video, btw. All the videos I'm seeing of the 94 series radios have got me thinking I need on of each!
