Dawn is also a lot easier to relate to than characters from movies like "shes all that" for example, because Dawn has flaws, she is selfish sometimes, and rude, and angry, like a 12 year old girl would be in real life. in other high school movies, they make the "nerdy" girl basically perfect, the only people who can relate to that are concieted fucks.
