  • @PPPrules101 I know she doesn't play the younger one, but Ellen is also in the scene, which is why I posted it.

  • my dad made us watch it wen we were little kids i hardly remembr it but i noe it was amazin he wantd us to watch basically cuz he wants us 2 end up in ivy league skools cuz if she was a homeless girl in a background like dat y cant we do wat she did

  • i watched this movie in health science.....didnt get to see the ending have to wait to monday...

  • I watched this a long time ago before I knew who ellen page was. Now that I know I will have to see it again.

  • I remember reading about this true story in school. I forgot it was a movie. Gosh, I just love this story an ellen page. :D

  • And the dads just sitting there watching jeopardy, wow..

  • ok that scared me when she just randomly smiled.

  • i watched this in my life and career class its sad but has a strong message

  • I watched this movie for my psych class. It's sad.

  • Cool. I watched it for my Family and Consumer Science class. Yeah, it's very sad, but it has a good message, and the ending is pretty heart-warming.

  • what a horrible father.

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the song that plays at the beginning of the movie?

    Please and Thank-You :)

  • Musical score is also excellent by Louis Febre, does anybody know how to get hold of the song/s? Thanks.

  • i watched this movie last night and it was rly sad..and i cud never imagine living like tht little grl did

  • holy shit is this a real story? wow. i'm in a paid apartment, gettting as much money as i want to spend on food, and i have a new car and yet i do nothing with my life. this really makes my mind boggle. wtf. homeless to harvard?

  • Yup. This is a real story. It's kinda hard to imagine, but it's real.

  • @arunmabraham The reality was a lot worse. Her book came out last year, and it was nasty.

  • Man, that mom is a BITCH!

  • Yeah, she's pretty messed up. I agree. Thanks for your comment. =]

  • Ohh wow I didn't catch on it was Ellen Page! I first saw this movie in 2004, then saw Ellen in Juno and loved her. GO Ellen!

  • I didn't recognize her the first time I saw it either, but I've probably seen the movie about 5 times now, so somewhere down the road I recognized her. Lol. Yup, Ellen is pretty much amazing. =]

    Thanks for your comment!

  • if you think she's awesome then you need to see The Tracey Fragments and also Hard Candy. But don't watch her in An American Crime unless you're prepared to watch Ellen Page being tortured.

  • hard candy and an american crime are on my fave movies list. they are both amazing and an american crime is so sad. ppl also need to see mouth to mouth and going for broke. wilby wonderful is good too

  • the mom was in curly sue lol

  • i thought that was thora birch

or however you spell her name

  • Thora Birch is in this movie, but she's not the actress I'm talking about. Ellen Page plays the younger version of her sister. Pause at 2:39 for the one I'm talking about.

  • oh okay(:

  • Does Ellen Page have a big role in this movie?

  • No, unfortunately her role is very small in this movie, but it's definitely worth the watch anyway. =]

  • Thanks:D

  • Yes 'yes she does

  • the 'mom' plays in The L Word as Ivan. :)

  • veru nice movie

  • it was such i sad, great moive -sob- 5 starts

  • i loved this movie. it opened my eyes and made me appreciate everything that I take for granted. I'm a graduate of high school, but i wish I could go back and redo it 10times better than what I did. & I wasn't the best, but I was decent. I just appreciate everything now. Congratulations Liz Murray for making something of your life!

  • Why did she drop out though?

  • Excelente historia muy inspiradora y motivante, cuando todo parece estar en contra una Actitud Positiva lo puede Cambiar TODO

  • I just read a bio on her and she started in 1999 so I guess she did her four years. well don't I feel silly.... ok I'm suddenly inspired. Thanks, Liz, for inspirationalizing me!!!! I swear to god if I find out she didn't graduate from Harvard I'm gonna be mondo pissed. Time to go make clothes for my cat. bye *wave*

  • according to wikipedia, she left in 2003 to care for her sick father, then resumed at columbia university. in 2008, she went back to harvard to finish her degree, and i think she graduated this month. hope that helps :)

  • she left harvard and went to columbia university

  • why are you so inspired? She left Harvard in 2003 and her free scholarship....why? That didn't inspire me it pissed me off. I want the last hour and a half of my life back!

  • Considering what she came from and how she overcame everything she did, and still went to college, I would say that's pretty inspiring to me.

  • she got into harvard from being homeless and having a terriblke upbringing yet she managed to get a scholarship which most people dream about, if that isnt an inspiring story i dont know what is, its inspiring to see a homeless person can make a fantastic life for herself, when there are so many lazy wasters out there who do fuck all and have better upbringings!

  • she left harvard to take care of her sick dad, so she transfered to columbia university

  • Thanks for the tip you spoiler! lol same thing happened when I was about to see reservoir dogs but its cool it tends to happen to me lot for some reason

  • Sorry, I don't have the film. I got this clip from an Ellen Page fansite. Search google or look for it on Sidereel, you should find something. =]

  • Oh, well thanks anyway!

  • I have watched the film 3 times.I am very moved.I do not know how could she be so brave to face so much difficulty in her life, but she and her story just encourage me to stick to my dream, light up a Chinese girl's future.

  • Wow, I didn't know Ellen Page and Thora Birch did a movie together. That's awesome.

  • Yup. They didn't have any scenes together though. Ellen plays the young version of the main character's older sister. Thora plays the main character grown up. =] They're both great actresses.

  • i love this movie too it was really good. u know ellen can look pretty pitafull (dont know how to spell it lol) its scary.

  • Is it just me...or is the moms eyes a little too dark, and it makes her smile seem...evil...

  • Hmm. I never noticed it before. Maybe they made it seem that way for the movie.

  • I jsut watched this movie on youtube. It was really sad. And to think that someone who is actually still living in this world could live through life like that and be such a success...Its amazing.

  • I didn't know the whole thing was on youtube. hmm. I know. It's pretty inspiring. Thanks for the comment. =]

  • I think it is kinda funny that the Dad is watching a "Game Show" where you can win alot of money if you answer the questions right and he knows the answers but never tried to get on the show.

Plus he just sits there as his wife fights with her children, he never thought about breaking it up.

  • @RockstarNorth4life hell he proabably could have won enough money to at least buy the family a small house out there in the suburbs and get them out of poverty.
