I haven't been overwhelmed by the sound of the old SEMs. Up to this point I have been wondering what the fuss was about. Your demo changed my impression entirely. Beautiful sound.
what a phenomenal track. so 70s genesis. the oboe lead is one of most stunning lead sounds i've ever heard. IME only something like earlier ARPs or r.a.moog minimoog leads compare to this. should have gotten one of these years ago..
Probably the synth is doing it. Think of Van Halen's "When It's Love", that percussive chiff sound you hear when every synth note sounds. This ability was typical of Oberheims. More then likely all of the Oberheim poly synths could do it. The SEM was traditionally used in banks of two or more. Styx used the SEMs on their early albums (Grand Illusion). In terms of a good early poly synth, you really can't beat the Oberheims. My favorite synth BY FAR! (Ok, the Mini-Moog is a close 2nd).
@r5t6y12 I am not sure what is wrong with you? Whether you really can't hear quality sound or you are just writing something ignorant thinking you know what you are talking about and trying to sound cute. Your lack of knowledge and ability to hear sound is quite obvious, next time think before you write!
oh my god. those are some of the greatest sounds i have even heard on a synthesizer! the weird aquatic bloops and almost oboe-esque lead are amazing. this Matthias guy seems like a legend.
i am thinking about a re-release of the vintage synths cds. anybody out there interested ?

@tsluke thanks! this is the work of the German synth guru Matthias Becker. He is a pure genious when it comes to vintage synths.

Beautiful tone. Tom Oberheim's machines always sounded the best.

Why do people feel the need to bash other people'swork on this site? If you could of done this you would of instead of complaining about it!

@youwantotestmykungfu
It's "could have done", not "could of done" and "would have" instead of "would of".To replace "have" with "of" isn't proper english.Not at all.

@beatz04 I'm not proper English, I'm a retard!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
With the exception of the droplets sound, ALMOST ANY 3 octave "vintage synth" could be put through the process that this guy did to create this music.
Hell, I could do this with a Moog Rogue (and I've never even seen one right in front of me).
