After all the comments about the Amy Winehouse version, I finally had to listen to it. What a piece of crap. The horrible nasal whine was unbearable. If you want to hear it like it should be, listen to Ruby.
I was 13 then in Saint Louis Mo. I heard this song at by brothers house in the Gaslight Square area on Mcpherson and i fell in love with it right away.
Doesn't bring back any memories from back in the day as this song was quite unheard over my place...I came across that song more than 40 years after it came out .I was but 6 in 63 but it makes no doubt that if I were American I would still remember that song...
@blkshepherd---I am glad things did get better for you and your mother. Overcoming adversity is tough in this U.S. of A. but people do do it and it sounds like you did--fantastic.
1963...ahh things were different then. We were different..But one thing will never change. Listening to the beautiful sound of Ruby singing Our Day Will Come....
Isn't there some really nice comments on this page.....goes to show you all us oldies born in that era aint that bad after all...lol....thank you so much for posting..really appreciate it. P.S and thanks to the nice young people that posted as well.
@lostboy185 No she didn't. Her version got no soul. It is thin and one dimension. Her voice has done nothing to improve the great melodies as well. What a shame.
Wow! It sounds as good as the original!! I dread hearing people sing their by-gone hits when they are older because they never sound right. The backup singers are right on tune!
I was 13 years old and we had a doo wopp group that sang under the street lights to the girls in our neighborhood. We sang this every night..........days gone by.........
@Flytownn sorry to be the bearer of Bad news..but all Four of the Original Romantics on this Song are Dead. they all died..check Google. sad Only Ruby is still alive..None of the guys backing her on this live version are the Romantics. none. but they do a good job though. Even one of the group members that wrote the song is dead now.
Was getting ready to ship out overseas when this song came about. Brings back allot of memories with my girlfriend I was about to leave and filled many moments with reflection of happy safe times back in the states . The oldies music era is missed by many .
what a classic song...1963 it hit...i remember when it 1st came out....it was the summer of '63..and i can recall...uhmm..i remembe...uhmmm...hmmm...heeeey....wait a minute!!!!....i wasn't even born yet for another18 years!!!....scratch the "wavy dream-like reflections of the past imagy thingy.....nevermind...carry on. ;-) but it is a great song!!

Tears roll down my cheeks thinking back to When I was 7yrs old back in 1963.. I came home from school one day and found my mother crying.. ..i walked over to her and I told her."Our Day will come, mama..dont cry..Our day will come." It did..we spent many a wonderful year together until she passed Oct 23, 2008 at 94. yes mama..Our Day Will Come. She told me that story many times after I had became an adult. This song will always have a special meaning to me. and draw tears.
@DooWopJoe Thank you..I had No idea Ruby sang Live this so many years later. And a pretty good job too. thanks Mr. Doowop Joe. Wasent it Just Great being a child back in 1963?! You Confirm that I didnt Dream this time and era up, or this haunting Beautiful song.
@zorro1955 Great, Moms would get a misty look in her eyes whenever it would be played..Yes that makes two of us still Alive and Kicking.but i really would like to Go back to this year and hangout about a month or so. lol.u know how they did on those old movies like Dark Shadows they would frequently Return to the Past. During this time all monster and sci fi movies(chiller theater) scared the Pants off me and I had Many Nightmares as a child dreaming of monsters LoL..and still do if eat to late

I miss her every waking day of my life and when this song comes on the oldies station..or my Mp3. I just get misty eyed..and stare into space as a lump rises in my throat. Amazing the Emotions and Memories a Song can evoke. didnt mean to make you cry :-( ..wish i had a dollar for every tear I shed when moms passed that fateful day in October 08. and since.
i too was 7 when this song came out. i was sweet on this gurl in my class (charmine tucker) and hummed this song to her. she never gave me the time of day though, but what da hell. it`s the memories that counts
