The same guy reviewed a Tech 21 TM and it sounded way too bassy. Now this amp sounds too thin and dry. What's wrong with this guy??? If you are doing demos, learn to EQ because these demos just make you not buy the amp!!
@utPr3d4ToR For sure the vintage modern, it's a much more old school style of amp, based off their early plexi models which Slash used to record AFD, the JCM 2000 is a much more modern style of amp which doesn't have the same classic marshall crunch, I tried a DSL 100 not too long ago and was VERY disappointed.
i know the video isnt the best for getting its tone, but its probably the best overview of the amp, watch this video to know what ur doing, and then go to a guitar store urself and get the REAL tone, not over youtube...
realmente gearwire como es posible que sus reviews suenan tan mal, solamente hacen q amplis como este vintage modern suene de la mierda increible cuando estan facil lograr un buen sonido en este ampli.
...i have actually listened to this amp live..it just outbeats everything in its category as regards tone, capabilties and price..and this is coming from a fanatic mesa boogie user.
this demo sounds so much better then the pgs demo.... i think better speakers or better guitar.... i love this tone.. and hate the tone of the pgs demo. here the guitar sound is moe wet and compressed not so metallic
People please don`t get sucked into the Marshall vibe. They are a marketing powerhouse. Your favorite players you see using Marshalls usually have them modded to eternity and often used as a backdrop but really playing through something else. All I say is rent one for a week before you buy. It could be the best $60 you spend!
@musichap dude, they are a marketing powerhouse, but that doesn't mean that theyre bad amps, crank up a Plexi, an 800 or a Vintage Modern and tell me im wrong
@LedZeppelin827 I never said they were ALL bad amps. I rented a Vintage Modern Combo and it sucked big time for a Marshall so I think for anyone interested it would be a good idea to rent one first.
@musichap really?I've heard nothing but good reviews, and i was thinking about buying one of those to replace my halfstack. point taken, i will use your advice and rent one before buying thanks dude.
@LedZeppelin827 The only thing you stand to loose is $60. Most decent dealers will put the rental fee towards the purchase price anyway! Let me know how you make out. Good luck.
@hewonyew I know nothing? You know what stupid, go buy one and then put it on e-bay just like all the other stupid people like you. I own a custom made Mesa just like the one you dream about every night that you can't have. Go buy your stupid Marshall so you can both have identical names, stupid!
@musichap I own 2 Mesa Boogies, I use them for the clean channels because you can't but the Boogie clean like the Mark one sound, Fender but with more control and balls, I also use EV speakers which are 200 watt each and the cleanist speaker ever made. I am now buying a Marshall for playing all of my Robin Trower songs. I am going to use all 3 amps with a switcher. Marshall have been the sound of rock and blues since the late 60's.
@musichap The only Marshall amps that your "favorite players" have modded are the old non master volume amps. The only people I know who bash Marshall are the ones that can't afford one. For live gigging, Marshall is as good as it gets.
@murfdog19 As good at it gets for certain soounds yes, but you can't say that all round, because if you want a Vintage clean strat sound like a Fenderdeluxe reverb, a Marshall is definetlyy not a good choice at all. But for certain songs yes. Thats why I own 2 Boogie combo's for the clean channels, and I'm getting a Marshall for the late 60's/70's blues/rock, I will use all 3 with a switcher.
Anyone in the (prefferably) UK looking to buy one of these, mine is mint condition and for sale. Send me a message if anyone's interested! First £550 takes it, or best offer.
Poor Owen. Don't worry about what these people say! :) If it counts for anything, you can play guitar and bass a LOT better than I can (I barely known how to play! LOL) Plus you know booku about many different musical equipment pieces. :)
Oh now I'm a knob well maybe you've got concrete between your ears genius - the greatest amp in the world isn't going to help someone who's not very good or maybe yer one of those dweebs who thinks the better the equipment he has the better he'll sound? Dufus...
I agree, all the youtube adverts for guitars and amps always somehow make them sound really crappy. I've played this amp and the high gain doesn't sound as shit as it does here, plus they totally left out the GnR and AC/DC tones you can get with this amp.
quietriot321, if you get the stack it would have the potential to be louder than the 2266c, but it would not affect the actual tone. Also, the stack would be more expensive than the combo.
it would be affected by the cab i have a friend who is a amp tech and he told me that (mods amps by himself and he did on the VM too) the more speaker's you have the more tone you get the better it sounds it's not really louder if both are 50w but it will be more powerful a half stack or stack sounds better.
go with a stack. combos can get tube rattle and other unwanted noises. plus heads are easier to transport because you could always just use another guys cab at gigs or practice.
instead vintagemodern i get TSL602C...VintageModern is cool amp but not for me...it's too vintage than modern.TSL is kicking my ass everytime i plug in it!!
Can someone tell me? Is it me or did the dude just not like the amp? Yeah it is not Numetal, but I tried the amp, pretty F'n good. Not my thing but F--- I'd buy it in a pinch. I prefer the DSL. If not for the DSL a little pedal and this thing would cook.
But i liked this review

so onstage for example, if you want to switch within 1 song, what do you do?

switch the middle boost within a song? then u have no other choice than to push it in manually on the amp.
