Used his father's influence to get into Natl Guard, (which at that time, meant he would not go overseas), jumping over many others on the waiting list. But at least better than Cheney, who utilized 2 student deferrments (to get out of serving at all, becuz he had "other priorities". And of course fatass Rush Limbaugh, who claimed he had a bad back. Ironic that they got away w/ trashing Kerry in 04 race with false ads.

Every democracy is a "work in progress" America was not perfect when it was created, which is why the founding fathers created the constitution. Enforcing the constitution in the face of powerful special interest is the challenge to ALL Democracies present and future. In all fairness, We Americans tend to believe that all wars should resolve themelves like as in WWII. Four years maximum. If any War goes beyond Four Years, its like a football game going into overtime. The reality is that Wars do not always go the way we want them to..look at the European Wars as an example(100 year war).

What we really need to focus on is to prevent the U.S. from going to war under false pretenses...ie. false WMD threats vs. Israel Lobby sponsored aggression.

Everybody wants to "pin the tail" on Bush for the Iraq fiasco...when it really was the people who funded his election and have defended him the very beginning. The Pro-Israel Lobby of Mel Sembler, Sheldon Adelson (RJC) and Freedoms Watch.
