If this wasn't answered I know guys like grant higa live here in Washington and I've seen videos of them in the warehouse so in Chicago when its cold if you could find a few training partners split the cost of a lease call it membership dues and then at least you're inside and then invest in some industrial heaters lol
Probably just working out in your garage would solve that problem. Or maybe you can make a line of gas, get someone to drop a match on it, then run down that line before the fire catches you. That'll make things hot...
Elliott, I'm from Brazil, and, seriously, I've never saw one of these kegs around here. And as most of our fitness gyms do not have a log, do ANY of these bars with that parallel grip substitute the kegs or the logs? Thanks.
What size kegs do you use? I imagine that I can get a couple of kegs from eBay...
As for the cheap version, get some sandbags and put them in a duffel bag.
As for the cold weather, I would recommend bringing the bar inside the house and bringing them with you to the garage to train (assuming you do not have to go outside to do this. Also, warm ups are even more crucial, do not neglect them.
Michael, I can relate to the cold, being farther north than you. I just dress in 3 or 4 layers, go to my garage, and within 5 minutes I'm sweating, even in -20 weather. I'll probably get a construction heater just to bring up the temp a bit, but other than that, layers,a proper warm up, and getting after it seems to work for me.
Thanks Elliott...and I will man up and buy the kegs - you are right...it will be worth it! LOVE the program (enough to start a website to promote it - leanhybridmuscleworkout)!
Keep it up dude and best of luck!
Oh, and thanks for the compliment on my guitar playing and people interested in learning guitar can learn more by going to my videos and then to my blog - rpm4guitarsolo).

Getting stupid strong is an awesome goal, but getting a shirt like that sounds easier to achieve. Anyone got a link?

60 Lb. bag of sand and a roll of heavy duty duct tape from a hardware store.
Under 10 bucks.
Check out second hand shops and such for a duffle bag if you want something to grab on to.
Sand bags and sand filled tire tubes are the cheapest, most versatile improvised weights.
