In Denmark we were not given a referendum, and then 35 people raised a question in Danish Supreme Court about sueing our Primeminister and foreignminister for treason against our constitution for not letting us vote about Lisbon Treaty. This week the answer was given, so now the 2 ministers will be sued:-DDDD
@markzen582 No, the irish people who voted against the EU do not want to be bailed out. Being in the EU is what caused this trouble for Ireland. If Ireland was given the chance to vote again now on the EU, then i am pretty sure that they would again say no to the EU treaty but this time, the the no side would win a landslide victory.
@NumberDne Well thats typical, if it wasnt for Eu Ireland would never develop, EU has been covering Irish spendings for decades, its your gov that fucked it up, cant blame others for the situation you are in at the moment, its just to pathetic.
@markzen582 Being in the EU has just given irelands economy a fake boom and a massive bust. Yes the EU has covered irish spending which is not a good thing because that the reason why ireland is now in debts which cannot be paid back. And now the EU is plunging ireland into more debt which effectively makes ireland a vassal state of the EU.
And by the way, you and i come from the same country.
god the jews just make my skin crawl...they are so incredible at lying, it is unbelievable. i never thought i would say this, but Hitler was actually correct...i read most of mein kampf and he was spot on with the zionist jews. they have opened our boarders to an endless stream of violent, white-hating african and muslim immigrants, many of which are payed a living to publicly demonize us white males, in our own countries! we go to work every day, and our leaders hand our money over to them...
what was the over riding opinion here by the mep's - screw the voters , ratify the constitution anyway. now thats democracy national socialist style !
nobody wants the EU. but they will continue until they get what they want by using propaganda, scaring nations with trade isolation and behaving like the MAFIA crooks which they are. People at the EU are nothing but control freaks who will destroy the variety and uniqueness of each European country one by one.
Instead of being rude and dismissive by saying "fuck" and implying that those who are on the no side are lunatics, if you actually tried to come up with a coherent and logical argument then people could take you more seriously. Lisbon treaty means a loss of freedom and democracy, it is a treaty to end all votes. that is NOT a good thing
I voted yes for the first vote. But for the second vote i voted No. If we voted yes the first time around would we have had a second vote??
We are in the deepest recession of any counttry in europe. At the moment, If our head of government said black was white the leading opposition party would disagree. But for some reason on the treaty of Lisbon. Our 3 biggest parties, all in oppostion on every other issue are all saying to vote yes. What is going on? I swear on my life someting is going on
Lisbon treaty is good for politicians, gives them chance for permanent positions of power and income that they can't be voted out of. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, in the treaty that helps our economy. It does the opposite by increasing our expenditure on military funds which means less money for education, health and all other aspects of the economy.
Only Poland and Ireland still have to ratify....Poland will for sure, Ireland just has to pass Referendum!!! LISBON TREATY IS GONNA GET RATIFIED!! WOOOT!!
*YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, most independent economists, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, IDA, ISME, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Small Firms Association, Pfizer, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
NO vote = we are still in the EU, like we are now, and the EU must be more accountable to the people of Europe. It stops the runaway power of the EU parliament and its gravy train expenses.
YES vote = no way back, we can't undo mistakes made in the treaty or the EU, our say in EU is halved. Some countries say is doubled.
The mature thing is to stand up and tell EU to correct the problems, not to give in to the accusing tut-tutting of EU politicians trying to tell us we should be embarrassed.
The Lisbon treaty shouldn't be considered as a way to express anti-EU or pro-EU feelings... If we say NO we are still in the EU and we don't lose any of the benifits of that.
Something both sides seem to have ignored during their campaigning!!
Nor is this something to be used to take down Fianna Fail, which is something that seems to be coming across from alot of the people who argue online. Consider that all the major partys are pushing YES.
ireland has once been the poorhouse of europe, and without the eu it will become exactly this soon again. we all have profited and prospered from european integration. i just hope the populists will lose this time!
*YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, most independent economists, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Small Firms Association, Pfizer, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
Declan ganley, an irish american with deep links to the USA military suddenly returns to Ireland to out spend the major political parties in his support for a no vote. open your eyes, he is being funded by the US government to keep europe weak and divided
if you truely want a no vote, then get your ass over here to ireland en masse and show us you mean it. the yes side have a bigger campaign and are playing dirty. If the irish could see the foreign support for NO,they would vote no. Right now, they are scared. convince them.........POSTING ON YOUTUBE IS NOT ENOUGH. don't leave it all on our shoulders.
NO NO NO Brian Cowen and the rest of the fuckers in government haven't made one good decision in a long time! If this one goes through its clearly a scam as the people are speaking out NO all time time. I havent forgot about you Bertie and your time will come you Fucker. NO NO NO
NO SIDE: Shinners, Ganley, Socialists, Coir, Eirigi, UKIP, Le Pen, BNP.
YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
"The creation of a European para-military force, the EDF, adds to the growing list of bodies, agencies and forces spawned by the EU over which there is scant accountability, scrutiny, transparency or openness. Para-military police are by their very name and nature trained to use force beyond that normally available to police forces and require greater not less oversight. «
anyone who votes yes is basically an empire loving person or their mind is purely business orientated.there's more to think about than just the economy.think about our past, our moral issius, our constitution, were sacrificing it all for this piece of paper, its undemocratic what is being done,we voted no the first time and they refused to respect that.VOTE NO again, recessions are temporary, lisbon is forever!!
The Treaty of Lisbon introduces for the first time a specific legal basis for humanitarian aid. This provision stresses the specificity of the policy and the application of the principles of international humanitarian law, in particular impartiality and non-discrimination.
Not only is this treaty good for Ireland but it is looking on a much broader outlook for the benefit of the people of Africa.Vote Yes!
hey europe can do this without such a hand over of power to the EU by member states. Maybe that humanitarian aid promise is just the eu giving us SOME REASON to vote yes for their own agenda and NOT for the people of africa.
do you really think that humanitarian aid is what this treaty is all about?
Personaly i hope we leave the E.U Each country is looseing their indapendience and are becoming more one minded with little or no say from the people and last time i checkted thats not democracy
the fact that they are callin this treaty democratic, while not allowing their people to vote on it is laughable. Asking us to vote again is so condesending and disrespectful. This shit about "i respect the irish vote , but..." but fuck all, no means no, now shag off
We said No. End of! We would have NO influence in the EU. We barely have influence over our own government. I said No cos I dont want the Lisbon Treaty. If it is so democratic, Thexxmarcoxx, why not allow Europeans to vote on something that will affect them? Ive read bits of it. Its been rejected 3 time! This is ridiculous! FUCK THE IRISH POLITICIANS AND THE EU PRICKS. LISTEN TO US.
and if you really love your country so much don't you see that it needs the EU? The EU brings peace to europe, makes it stronger and is helping to strenghten our influence in the world. It also has negative aspects of course just as any other government in the world. But we live in a new age the rising superpowers as China india brasilia russia are growing and the influence of the single national states in europe are decrease. We need a strong EU if we want to keep our influence
You aren't getting ruled by foreign leaders and ireland also has representitives in the EU don't they? And if you guys hate the EU so much this should be a blessing for you because by the lisbon treaty you can finally leave the by u so hated EU. Have you ever even read the lisbon treaty? I doubt it you're just listening to the eu contra propaganda and believe everything blindly. READ IT and then you'll see why it'll be more democratic
Who put those fucking gays to speak before people. Fuck you. This must be banned with a law in europe. I can ome in front and speak in any language of yours you choose retards. What's that bullshit, that's idiotism those are retards, complete degenartes. Europe is doomed, if someone don;t fuck them
The EU is undemocratic. Even our Bundesverfassungsgericht here in Germany (Constitution court) admitted it. And the Lissabon treaty means: you are no national sovereigns any more, EU commands almost everything.
So say NO to the Lissabon treaty and say YES to democracy! For a free and democratic Europe!
the Irish are a lucky nation in so much that they get a chance to vote.
Democracy smells sweet.
In England we have no Parliament of our own, just a pro EU British Establishment that gets us into all sorts of debt and skirmishes across the world. And a monarchy. I wish someone would ask us how we want to be governed.
Actually Parliament is legally sovereign. If you don't like the EU the British people have every opportunity to vote in an Anti EU party in the next general election.
UKIP or the BNP.
The Conservatives are Euro Sceptics.
The Monarchy does nothing to cripple Britain. The Monarchy protects our traditions and history. You could say that the Monarch is a minor shield against EU rule because at the end of the day the Queen is technically sovereign over all British government.
Excuse me , who the hell voted british europarliamentars, not english peoples??You are so naive.Europeans need a common policy, otherway the old russian empire will be the master of this part of the world.
Those irish allways want to fight against something or somebody, go fuckyourself , you, and your island, go fight brits and leave europeans alone.European Union can survive without you.
It took 24 years for the Romanians to get rid of Nicolae Ceauşescu - And now you're in the EU 2 years and you're telling everyone else what to do . . . . . . Geez - You've certainly made progress.
you tell the Irish people to go fuck themselfs and then say you dont want to offend the entire nation?cheeky fucker!
if you like the idea of a european union thats up to you but remember that union is undemocratic by not accepting the no vote here and doing the oppsoite of what they said by going ahead anyhow with without full support!! its a comunist union!
You don't know what communism means do you? Stop throwing around with words you don't understand dude. And the european is democratic for the representitives in the EU are chosen by the government YOU vote and they're thinking about letting the people vote for the president of the european comission. and by the lisbon treaty there will be more democrazy in the european union.
if here in Ireland if there were to be a yes vote we would automatically lose our constituitonal right to vote in any other refeerendums where is the democroasy in that?
and if a united europe were to be more democratic why then are we to be made vote again for a treaty that was to be scrapped if all 27 member states were not unanimos? we here do NOT want europe to run OUR country and tell the people of this nation to comply with FORGIN RULERS!
The fact itself that the ones in high power such as the prime ministers are not considering letting the people decide on the situation proves that the lisbon treaty is not democratic at all, To prove democratic values the only way to go is to let the people vote period
Please vote NO to the Lisbon Constitution. It is not good enough to have a European Constitution that reads like a phone book and that only the Irish citizens get to vote on. Democracy is in the hands of the Irish people. Voting no to Lisbon will not change the economic situation for the better or the worse. This is a tactic being used by the Government and certain media with vested interests in a yes vote to distract from the actual content of the Treaty. Please do not be fooled, vote NO.
Thats fuckin right! Only smaller and eventually none government will allow humanity to achieve its potential. Everyone is hating that they dont feel like the governments listen to them. Then why do we tolerate governmetns that are too large to hear us? BOMB the EU! ANd curses on the North American Union as well!
Well I remember Havier Solana as the greatest Warmonger and for bombing of innocent childrena and women in Yougoslavia 1999! Not a sign of a Humane being in this Best Havier Solana. Now this person rules alone both USA, NATO and ES!
This is all bullshit.... a lot of people voted no in ireland because there is a serious amount of anger at the government and big business at the moment....and since things got worse i can't see it going through next time either... sorry but there it is.... i no it has nothig to do with Lisbon so please don't start preaching about how good europe is.... it hasn't sold itself very well on this issue and ALL the politicians in every country should think long and hard about what there doing.....
Same here in the UK. Our Spineless labour ex-government promised us referendums on any changes made, and how many of those changes got a referendum? Not one.
Because Barossa dropped the EU's case for non-Catholics to be employed in Irish schools, the result is that atheists cannot be employed in Irish Catholic schools with impunity. The RCC owns 90% of Irish schools. And if you remember one Professor Buttigleoni , the Pope's anti-gay friend, and how Barrossa risked his cabinet on his appointment, you might get the real picture about Barosso's EU...
Just ONE EXAMPLE of what to expect from our 25 un-elected Masters at the Council of Europe :
European Charter of Fundemental Rights (Article 111-434) Life-long Immunity from criminal prosecution is guaranteed for "EU officials and servants".
Don't ask why ! Criticism of the EU is forbidden under the European Court of Justice ruling (274/99)...and could land you in prison if the LISBON TREATY gets ratified by all 27 states !
t´s not too late,SAVE DEMOCRACY in Europe SIGN THE PETITION for a referendum at : X09"dot"de
One example of how the (un-elected) 25 EU commissioners are deciding all of OUR futures in Europe :
"Next year (2009) could see Turkey make a crucial step forwards on it's path to EU membership..." (Enlargement commissioner Ollie Rehn).EVEN THOUGH a substantial MAJORITY of BOTH Turkish AND European citizens are AGAINST Turkey joining the EU !
We voted NO because our concept of Human Rights at times different to that of some much larger countries in Europe. Therefore we will insist on taking care of that by ourselves. But thanks for the offer.
EU is useful and needed, but we need to REFORM IT FIRST. We need to cut on bureaucracy, make decision making more democratic and make it more beneficial to the ordinary man, instead being just a talking shop for the politicians who make money for themselves in Brussels without being beneficial. Good job Ireland!!
Irish are great. Thank you. EU is a total non-sense. Brussels is a capital of corrupted individuals who just want to make money for themselves and are in it for the power. Shame on you. Who needs you? Who wants you? NO-ONE!!!
it sucks that the assumption at the EU is that the irish voted no because they didn't know enough about it or because they weren't persuaded right. it assumes an ignorance of a people and they voted against the fact that a counselor from some other country can make assumptions about you and then make speeches and take actions that effect your government. we need to fight this globalist bullshit and I hope the sensible self-governing believers in freedom will stop the EU before it spreads.
The best outcome , as far as I am concerned, is that the EU respect the Irish vote, scrap it, go into an ante-room, come back with the Lisbon Treaty , minus the Poles and the Irish, and leave them to Rome. Then, people like me, could move North and leave the Catholic South to Italy....Great!
Hadn't the governments of many countries gaged the mouths of their sovereigns (the Nations), by depriving them of the free referenda, the result achieved in course of mentioned referenda would've made even a more severe impact on Barosso strange pout. I'd say we've got democracy but we've to speak in monotone... yes yes yes, it's a ridiculosity...
Ireland wasnt and isnt the only country to have said No to this treaty. Not forgeting all those who voting rights were stolen from them. So they better stop blaming Ireland. They need to learn what democracy is , before even represting us a new treaty.
We already have a two speed EU where the politicians, crooks, liars, cheats, lobbyists & parasites are moving backwards into some sort of arcane self serving, self enriching scam whilst the informed, forward seeing, fundamentally honest people want self determination, democracy, liberty, independence and sovereignty with dignity & justice for their peoples and the future. Intelligent informed thinking people do NOT want centralised corruption and a neo dictatorship destroying their lives
This American 100% supports and thanks the Irish people who voted no. When will humanity wake up to this New World Order dictatorship with their fiat money scam of false debts and tax theft with the ultimate goal of mas murder of humanity. Google "Georgia Guide Stones" notice the first commandment of the NWO. Please wake up humanity and reject tax and those governments who support the NWO.
4 months after the EU scam enquiry ONLY Tom Wise EUkip MEP has been arrested. 5,000 Politicians voted for their gravy train to keep rolling but 85,000,000 citizens voted to start to dismantle it! Guess who will fiddle it to win & whose money they are stealing!
Twice fired unelected morgage fraudster & Bilderberg plennary member Peter Mandelson on Newsnight said, "We have to find a way to repair the damage caused by the Irish Referendum." The damage DEMOCRACY caused to threaten their gravy train
Democracy is just too inconvenient for Europe's political elites. Instead of failing to properly explain the Lisbon Treaty, the Europoliticos failed to properly obfuscate and obscure the provisions of said document. The Irish understood the Lisbon Treaty all too well which is why they rejected it. Ireland, having a proud constitutional tradition, as well as a history of prosperity and political stability, is far wiser than the German, Italian, and French pontificators now vilifying it.
NATO kept the peace in Europe for 60 years & now the EU increasingly antagonises its members & neighbours and in absolute denial of the democracy of the peoples in its vassal states France, Holland & Ireland insults them by ignoring them so that the politicians can, with their parasites, persue their ambitions & self enrichment. To be hectored by an Italian on how governance should function is high farce. The debate of the treaty was extensive in Ireland. In the EU it is an instrument of force!
Maybe the Irish aren't in favor of EU BS. Every decent American would support Ireland's actions, hopefully they do the same for us when our time comes soon.
Every right minded person on the planet would stand alongside those who are trying to keep democracy alive and highlight the utter madness of those in power. We are not against the EU, we voted no because of what we would have to give up.
In this clip Martin Schultz is the only one, who say something of interest. He is right, that once the EU had an idea: to keep peace in Europe through cooperation. Today this agenda is replaced with another one: creation of a unelected, self-appointed Central Comittee with all the power and acting against the people of Europe and behind closed doors. And THAT is one reason why EU criticism has the upper hand now.
ramonni!! im irish and damn well proud of it!! you are just like those spineless bast*rds who use bullying and scare tactics to get there own way and to block anything that is said that you do not believe!! do you actually have an argument or are you just going to slag anyone that doesnt have the same view as you??????? i voted no and i will do it again and again and again!!!! the irish will not back down from this!!!
tippboi1987 PLEASE HELP - copy comments you agree with and post them on all the similar sites ;-) We need to distribute the truth as widely as we can so that people will understand the EU is a scam supported by those with their snouts in the troughs - most of whom were NEVER elected The disconnect between politicians & the people is huge & growing & if we do not fix this problem soon it will lead to war. The EU MUST be gently dismantled if mankind want peace in the future. Democratic VOTE WAS NO
To understand the EU why not watch youtubeDOTcom / watch?v=xnMtc_QJ4-E it will help you understand the aims of the EU & those who are the minority pro group who welcome corruption, greed, centralisation and self enrichment. It makes it entirely understandable why Politicians are in favour & out of step with the peoples where France, Holland & Ireland VOTED NO to the Constitution now renamed Lisbon Treaty & note EU Commissioners have less democratic mandate than Mugabe NO ONE EVER voted for them!
An interesting thought from Maggot Wallstrom (EU Minister of Propaganda) Kemppinem head of the EU London enforcement offices 'WE did not lose one single referendum.' (This may suggest that the EC considers itself blameless re: Ireland) The other, a peach, reads: 'Yes is yes but no is unfortunate.' It was of course the ghastly Abba clone with her metronomic drone & ill kept roots who is supposedly responsible for communications! Well she failed to communicate in Ireland. Not even understanding NO
ramonni, I am happy that the Irish are part of Europe. And we are MILLIONS in Europe who are grateful for their NO-vote on the Lisbon Treaty. It was VERY needed!
im confused...i thought 'Vote' meant that the publics choice is to be respected, maybe to the EU vote means choose the answer we want or we'll make your life more oppressed than if you voted yes in the first place!!
Go Ireland!! your making the non sheep of the world proud
and to the italian cow , plese missus your EU rules said ALL have to ratify or the treaty would be undemocratic, pity your country men was not allowed to vote for this Lisbon charade
bring another referendum and you will get an even bigger NO, we Irish are most annoyed by this lot insulting us by ignoring our democracy, even those who voted yes have seen the light thanks to their reaction
I note the French Sarkozy "The Irish are bloody fools," he told aides. "They have been stuffing their faces at Europe's expense for years and now they dump us in the s***." I gather the Irish politicians to keep their snouts in the trough have been told to Lobotomise the Irish so that they vote YES in a new referendum. The EU believes it can bully, bribe & threaten Ireland they knew the French & Dutch meant NO when they voted & won't be bullied. Of course Ireland was too stupid to understand!
good comment greg260146,exept your final remark regarding the irish citizens voice in the e.u. its not that were too stupid to understand, but that the treaty was promoted by our government with no explaination as to what it contained.
would you or anyone else vote on something that was not even the slightest bit clear?
500 characters made it hard to make clear that was the claim of the corrupt Politicians energetically trying to keep their snouts in the troughs!
Increasingly it is being claimed the Irish are too stupid & their politicians so incompetent they did not explain properly that in the EU centralised system you are only allowed to vote YES & the NO box is banned. EU democracy only allows for the ambitions of the political elite. The hell with the people
rbirrell surprising isn't it howmany NO supporters can read & were reading in detail & now we see the yes vote with its arrogance, hubris, foul language, abuse and challenged greed revealing their true colouirs whether Barroso or propaganda Minister Maggot Wallstrom, or all the rest showing their dishonest aims to overlook democracy & act like Mugabe, bullying, threatening, bribing & cheating to buy a Yes in a new vote!
Ireland has much to be proud of with a NO VOTE & more to be relieved about
nopartyplease You have a valid point. Ireland voted NO once before & through funding (bribes) bullying & lies they were FORCED despite the efforts of Anthony Coughlan's brave band AND the Courts - any vote under duress is as invalid as the UN has ruled Mugabe's attempt to reverse FACT. The only way Britain ever voted to ratify Rome all those years ago was based on lies so their signature is invalid! Heath admitted he deliberately lied as he knew if the Brits knew the truth they would vote NO!
I support European unity and freedom. Hitler said in Mein Kampf "Should one State preserve its national strength and its national greatness the empire of the Jewish satrapy, like every other tyranny, would have to succumb to the force of the national idea.". I suppoer co-operation between nations so fuck you nazis. Europe is at it's most vulnerable from internal and external enemies when divided and weak.
What! Explain the treaty! How about this explanation from the chief architect of the Lisbon Treaty: "Public opinion will be led to adopt, without knowing it, the proposals that we dare not present to them directly . .. All the earlier proposals will be in the new text, but will be hidden and disguised in some way." QUOTE by chief architect of Lisbon Treaty, Valéry Giscard d'Est
former French President-Le Monde, June 14, 2007
The EU is proving to the whole World it is a DEMOCRATIC TRAVESTY!
Why 26 Nation has not the nuts to place a Referendum before blaim the Irish. I think the 'EU' Leaders accuse the Irish to be democratic and not like them...
We don't want a new Soviet Union. So if the EU will be a democratic Union, show this to the 500,000,000 European Citizens an no act like a Stalin!
Good luck with the Lisbon treaty. When it gets ratified, you guys might as well get used to slave labor. They are going to crack that whip and if you object, they will pull the terrorist card.
Perhaps this is why the War on Terrorism was created. Seems rather convenient with countries all over the world merging around the same time.
We did not express an opinion so much as make a decision. It is clear that that decision is not being respected or accepted.
Even if all other national assemblies, diets, parliaments and bundestags ratify this treaty it will have been voted for by fewer europeans than have voted against it.
If they still carry on, then describing the EU as a democracy will be a clear demonstrable lie!
we the citizens of ireland are the only ones in the whole e.u.
that had the choice to vote on this treaty, the other countries had parlimentary ratification, which in my opinion is not democratic. this important issue, and others, must be put to the people.
its our future,we should`nt just tow the european line like blind mice.lisbon is dead.
"Dictatorship can be established only by a victory of socialism in different countries or groups of countries, after which there would be federal unions of the various groupings of these socialist countries, and the third stage would be an amalgamation of these regional federal unions into a world union of socialist nations" Joseph Stalin 1936 Communist International
Just blame us - the normal people for thinking for ourselves!!! Tut, tut! If I were an Irish politician I would be worried about my job in Ireland right now and not just my aspirations of a cushy number in Brussels in a few years time. If they do not represent us and be our voice in Europe heads should roll in the next General and European elections. Maybe Libertas might start a political party!?!
Some anti-lisbon campaigners said that "Ireland needs a better deal with Europe". I would like to know if they were serious or was it just some populist crap-talk.
Tupii89: the government of Ireland and all of the opposition parties but one, sought a YES vote. The one party that promoted a NO vote was Sinn Fein - it is they and their supporters whom seek a renegotiation of Lisbon. Altough Sinn Fein claim the credit for the NO vote, a minority of No voters are Sinn Fein supporters and many tell me they would have voted YES if the government had given them a reason to support the treaty largely rejected by the Dutch and French in '05.
If they did decide to have another referendum here, it would show such disrespect for our decisision that I'm sure even more of the poputation would vote and the NO would be louder. Why can't our government try to find out why it was opposed instead of being in Brussels arguing with each other!
Perhaps because your government is being run by the fiat money central bank government loan and tax theft scam that they use in almost every country in this world. Why is it that there is no place on earth where a human can live free of government and tax theft? Rothschild central bank scam, thats why. Reject Fiat money, central banks, and taxation. Reject NEW WORLD ORDER AND EU as well as the NAU. thank you lorz60 I respect you.
To Brian Crowley MEP, The Irish people did not express their opinion, they expressed their decision, there's a big difference and you would do well to respect it. Of course if you don't like that decision then resign.
Why not to have another referendum in Ireland? The Irish will be explained the treaty properly and we will see did the Irish understand the treaty or didn't they like it. If they vote no again, then the treaty will be trashed.
The will not be another referendum in this treaty in Ireland. The Irish people have spoken and that's it. In Ireland we like the idea of democracy and independence and we will not give that up.
I find it amousing how they made a "democratic opinion" out of a legally binding referendum.

Cheers and fuck EU from Denmark:-DDDD

October 2010 and we can see the damage done by having been bribed by the lies of The EU.
Jobs vanishing, projects halting, prices rising, house prices falling, banks bust, debts escalating, wages frozen, unemployment rising, pensions threatened.
Have YOU got a future in The EU they promised you much and delivered misery.
Never mind your politicians and their parasites they don't care they won't take a pay cut.
So Ireland's future largest export will be their children
Thanks to The EU

urfadder 2 years ago
Instead of being rude and dismissive by saying "fuck" and implying that those who are on the no side are lunatics, if you actually tried to come up with a coherent and logical argument then people could take you more seriously. Lisbon treaty means a loss of freedom and democracy, it is a treaty to end all votes. that is NOT a good thing
DrDaveTierney 2 years ago
I voted yes for the first vote. But for the second vote i voted No. If we voted yes the first time around would we have had a second vote??
We are in the deepest recession of any counttry in europe. At the moment, If our head of government said black was white the leading opposition party would disagree. But for some reason on the treaty of Lisbon. Our 3 biggest parties, all in oppostion on every other issue are all saying to vote yes. What is going on? I swear on my life someting is going on
c02615223 2 years ago
Lisbon treaty is good for politicians, gives them chance for permanent positions of power and income that they can't be voted out of. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, in the treaty that helps our economy. It does the opposite by increasing our expenditure on military funds which means less money for education, health and all other aspects of the economy.

Shocking too that the taxpayers are paying for
the EU's "European Gendarmerie Force" !

SolanoIRL09 2 years ago
hey europe can do this without such a hand over of power to the EU by member states. Maybe that humanitarian aid promise is just the eu giving us SOME REASON to vote yes for their own agenda and NOT for the people of africa.

the Irish are a lucky nation in so much that they get a chance to vote.
Democracy smells sweet.
In England we have no Parliament of our own, just a pro EU British Establishment that gets us into all sorts of debt and skirmishes across the world. And a monarchy. I wish someone would ask us how we want to be governed.
thegensec 2 years ago
Actually Parliament is legally sovereign. If you don't like the EU the British people have every opportunity to vote in an Anti EU party in the next general election.
UKIP or the BNP.
The Conservatives are Euro Sceptics.
The Monarchy does nothing to cripple Britain. The Monarchy protects our traditions and history. You could say that the Monarch is a minor shield against EU rule because at the end of the day the Queen is technically sovereign over all British government.

There is/was no plan B if the Irish vote no.
The un-elected commission respects the democratic Irish referendum vote.
There are no plans for an EU army.

« The EU can lawfully suppress political criticism of its institutions and of leading public figures «( European Court of Justice ruling 2001 ).
The European Charter of Fundamental Rights (art.2,passage 2) states that lethal force can be used to quell « rioting, civil upheaval & during war ».
The same Charter does NOT mention the right of EU citizens to VOTE.

Because Barossa dropped the EU's case for non-Catholics to be employed in Irish schools, the result is that atheists cannot be employed in Irish Catholic schools with impunity. The RCC owns 90% of Irish schools.

And THAT is one reason why EU criticism has the upper hand now.

they aren't needed anyway.

read the treaty regarding that subject.

ramonni, I am happy that the Irish are part of Europe. And we are MILLIONS in Europe who are grateful for their NO-vote on the Lisbon Treaty. It was VERY needed!
rmir2 3 years ago
im confused...i thought 'Vote' meant that the publics choice is to be respected, maybe to the EU vote means choose the answer we want or we'll make your life more oppressed than if you voted yes in the first place!!
Go Ireland!! your making the non sheep of the world proud

Biased reporting. Excellent turnout Ireland. You did the sovereign nations of the World a gigantic favor!
hydra8888 3 years ago 2
and to the italian cow , plese missus your EU rules said ALL have to ratify or the treaty would be undemocratic, pity your country men was not allowed to vote for this Lisbon charade
vuffelch 3 years ago
bring another referendum and you will get an even bigger NO, we Irish are most annoyed by this lot insulting us by ignoring our democracy, even those who voted yes have seen the light thanks to their reaction
vuffelch 3 years ago 2
I note the French Sarkozy "The Irish are bloody fools," he told aides. "They have been stuffing their faces at Europe's expense for years and now they dump us in the s***." I gather the Irish politicians to keep their snouts in the trough have been told to Lobotomise the Irish so that they vote YES in a new referendum. The EU believes it can bully, bribe & threaten Ireland they knew the French & Dutch meant NO when they voted & won't be bullied. Of course Ireland was too stupid to understand!
Greg260146 3 years ago
good comment greg260146,exept your final remark regarding the irish citizens voice in the e.u. its not that were too stupid to understand, but that the treaty was promoted by our government with no explaination as to what it contained.
would you or anyone else vote on something that was not even the slightest bit clear?
i think not. unless your stupid, that is!!
rbirrell 3 years ago
rbirrell PLEASE note my comment ended with !
The hell with the people
Greg260146 3 years ago
yes indeed.
it appears we read from the same hymn sheet.
lets not be conned again by these spineless,
deluded zionists.
rbirrell 3 years ago
rbirrell surprising isn't it howmany NO supporters can read & were reading in detail & now we see the yes vote with its arrogance, hubris, foul language, abuse and challenged greed revealing their true colouirs whether Barroso or propaganda Minister Maggot Wallstrom, or all the rest showing their dishonest aims to overlook democracy & act like Mugabe, bullying, threatening, bribing & cheating to buy a Yes in a new vote!
Ireland has much to be proud of with a NO VOTE & more to be relieved about
Greg260146 3 years ago
@Greg260146 Hi, no matter how much right or wrong, Mr. Mugabe is in fact democratically elected. The EU never was.
nopartyplease 3 years ago
nopartyplease You have a valid point.
Greg260146 3 years ago
Seems the Irish have shed alot of blood fighting these same polititions, thank god they know how to fight.

To all politicians:If
1.) you need my vote,
2.) you want my money,
3.) you claim to uphold my liberties and rights, then prove it, by asking.
Else your claim to power is as democratically validated as Kim Jong-il.
In this democratic process, called voting, the EU has failed admirably, in all but three nations. And these three nations said NO.
The other twenty-four EU state's citizens weren't asked. Therefore, the EU is illegal and has chosen to declare war on Liberty and Democracy.

How about this. The political class in Europe stop trying to force their will on the citizen of Europe.
THis is a replay of everything that has happened in Europe before.
No to a political block. Fuck off.

"anti-European"?
They are not anti-European, they are simply anti EU (there is a difference)
FuroraCeltica 3 years ago
The point is that, they should inform the people of the 27 countries and let them have their say by a referendum.
This is a charade!
agfigueroaa 3 years ago
We did not express an opinion so much as make a decision. It is clear that that decision is not being respected or accepted.
Even if all other national assemblies, diets, parliaments and bundestags ratify this treaty it will have been voted for by fewer europeans than have voted against it.
If they still carry on, then describing the EU as a democracy will be a clear demonstrable lie!
christianpatriot125 3 years ago 2
You are not informed enough to make this decision.
But you did.
Now the Government of The Republic Of Irealand may chose to withdraw from full membership of the European Union.
To be absolutely honest with you, I can't say I blame them.
You made the bed now you can rot in it! BTW HM Queen Elizabeth II of the UK was last evening dancing as her Parlaiment ratified Lisbon.
I should imagine you all now realize how you have been kicked out of Europe by YOUR OWN IGNORANCE!
no5eyparker 3 years ago
we the citizens of ireland are the only ones in the whole e.u.
that had the choice to vote on this treaty, the other countries had parlimentary ratification, which in my opinion is not democratic. this important issue, and others, must be put to the people.
its our future,we should`nt just tow the european line like blind mice.lisbon is dead.

THE EU NEEDS TO LET THE PEOPLE VOTE IN A DEMOCRATIC WAY!
mariodnyc 3 years ago
Just blame us - the normal people for thinking for ourselves!!! Tut, tut! If I were an Irish politician I would be worried about my job in Ireland right now and not just my aspirations of a cushy number in Brussels in a few years time. If they do not represent us and be our voice in Europe heads should roll in the next General and European elections. Maybe Libertas might start a political party!?!
Alan0874 3 years ago
Some anti-lisbon campaigners said that "Ireland needs a better deal with Europe". I would like to know if they were serious or was it just some populist crap-talk.
Tupiii89 3 years ago
Tupii89: the government of Ireland and all of the opposition parties but one, sought a YES vote. The one party that promoted a NO vote was Sinn Fein - it is they and their supporters whom seek a renegotiation of Lisbon. Altough Sinn Fein claim the credit for the NO vote, a minority of No voters are Sinn Fein supporters and many tell me they would have voted YES if the government had given them a reason to support the treaty largely rejected by the Dutch and French in '05.
Hope that helps.
jratt2 3 years ago
If they did decide to have another referendum here, it would show such disrespect for our decisision that I'm sure even more of the poputation would vote and the NO would be louder. Why can't our government try to find out why it was opposed instead of being in Brussels arguing with each other!
lorz600 3 years ago
Perhaps because your government is being run by the fiat money central bank government loan and tax theft scam that they use in almost every country in this world. Why is it that there is no place on earth where a human can live free of government and tax theft? Rothschild central bank scam, thats why. Reject Fiat money, central banks, and taxation. Reject NEW WORLD ORDER AND EU as well as the NAU. thank you lorz60 I respect you.
pure1warrior 3 years ago 2
Thanks for your comment, just saw it now. Sarkozy and the rest of them can go to hell.
lorz600 3 years ago 2
To Brian Crowley MEP, The Irish people did not express their opinion, they expressed their decision, there's a big difference and you would do well to respect it. Of course if you don't like that decision then resign.
celticlofts 3 years ago 2
Why not to have another referendum in Ireland? The Irish will be explained the treaty properly and we will see did the Irish understand the treaty or didn't they like it. If they vote no again, then the treaty will be trashed.
Tupiii89 3 years ago
imo they knew very well what they were voting about..
Orion602 3 years ago
Well just to be sure why don't they have another referendum? It doesn't do any harm either.
Ps. one survey showed that 80% of the Irish voters didn't know what they were voting about!!?!?!
Tupiii89 3 years ago
but it cost some money to make referendum..
and what if they voted YES insted of NO? some people would also wanted to repeat it :)) not easy
Orion602 3 years ago
The will not be another referendum in this treaty in Ireland. The Irish people have spoken and that's it. In Ireland we like the idea of democracy and independence and we will not give that up.
celticlofts 3 years ago
So another referendum harms democracy and independence? You are funny :)
If the Irish knew what the treaty was all about the result will be the same. So why are you against another referendum?
