Well what you can do is download the desktop manager and back up the files on your phone. Then all you have to do is update your phone through the manager since it will retrieve the update for you.

@99xela99 no, if you upgrade it'll still be unlocked, the upgrading has nothing to do with your carrier, its only messing with the OS...so don't be scared of upgrading, its actually for your own good lol

The 5.0 update is amazing. For those of you with the storm, just go to the website to upgrade, takes about 30mins. My blackberry is so much faster, I LOVE FLICK SCROLL!!!!!

i realize that this update can't be found anywhere on the net anymore, but i guess now it doesn't matter because the official release is out. unfortunately for me i live in the bahamas and my service provider hasn't gotten the ok from rim as yet for the update to be released to my phone :-( boo hoo... i connect to desktop manager and application loader and nothing happens... can anyone help me get the leaked jad?

Honestly, if you are on the fence of getting the new BB2...it's a good gig. I have the BB1...and was thinking man bb1 sucks...this new bb2 is the shit....I even stopped in verizon and checked it out haha..but after getting the new operating system 5.0 for my BB1....I can honestly say that the phone feels like new. It's like we had sex again for the first time last night. So...if you have BB1..with 4.7 just upgrade...honestly it's worth it...don't waste your money on the storm 2.

so, i noticed that since 5.0 upgrade, whenever I send an SMS, my sent message is saved in my folder.. is there anyway of disabling that? it's kind of annoying because I don't really need to see the messages that Ive sent to other people, just the messages i've received.

Storm 5.0 is amazing!

This is a whole new phone! I feel like the storm should have never been released until the software worked as well as it does now. You can tell in this video that there are no delays anymore...the phone is lightening fast now!

Not sure how you're not able to use the camera, video, facebook, app world..and the lot. I upgraded my BB with the OS v5 and have been able to use it successfully. Maybe it was downloaded incorrectly? I received a text from Verizon with the link to upgrade and that is how i got it.

You need to download Blackberry app world. You will find all your previous apps listed as ARCHIVED. Click on the menu and select RESTORE to reinstall the, the samething happened to me.

I just did this update about 5 min. ago... i like the flick scroll ALOT... much more comparable to the iphone ... i just took a picture and my phone did not Error the file saved and moved on as normal so that must have been an error in your downlaod... overall the flick is well worth it...

Okay, for those who updated and are having trouble with Facebook, connect to the data manager via Internet Explorer on Windows. Next, remove your current version of Facebook (if you have it) and then download it through your PC directly from Blackberry or Facebook...NOT Appworld. This should solve your problem and Facebook will load. Apparently the problem stems from using the Mac to update.

Well I just took a photo with no issues, so that must be a flaw in your download. I did notice though that App World is mysteriously missing, so you may have something there. I hope that RIM plans on fixing that soon seeing as how it is kind of a huge feature.

Overall the OS seems a LOT smoother, so I guess in the end it is quid pro quo. I imagine these issues will soon be fixed though.

I can give a rats ass whose idea it was to me its who can perfect it and make it available to the public. I think Apple purposely left off several things off the iphone, so their next phone would have it and the consumers would go back to Apple and buy the new version for more $. In the other hand the Storm has everything on it.

I was at Verizon this weekend and tested the Storm I think it is 100 x better than my iphone it takes pictures and records video something my iphone does not do and yes the storm has facebook/myspace am I looking at the newer version oh and it's cheaper than what I paid for my iphone go figure. .191. is amazing! yes no camera or video recording..but it truley is a sacrafice! ive been using it for weeks...very smooth..and flick scrolling!!!awsome...and threaded Sms! everyone should upgrade...who needs a camera. and for myspace and facebook apps. they dont work but with Opera Mini..u get the desk top versions of both with no lag! id recommend this and Opera Mini.

It doesnt surprise me to see another copycat here. Apple has shown the Way so why not use that. But this phone does seem to have an extremely fast interface. Seems to lag quite a great deal at certain places but on the home screen and launching apps, incredibly fast.

Well 'duude' after reviewing your cryptic message I'll say that if you used all your skill with reading you will see that I didn't state the iPhone is best, but merely that Apple starts something and everyone follows in this case.

People see the Apple and stop being critical consumers which is pretty stupid considering you might be able to get a faster and cheaper phone elsewhere.

From what I can see in this video, this phone seems quite a great deal faster in the interface than the iPhone 3GS.

blackberry wants you to test .191 but they dont want you to run it as a finished os.

They actually want you to test the 191 get the bugs out and then they will make a final without the camera bug.

They dont want you running this Beta os as your final..

They have done this before.. they will fix a hand full of things and then disable a few others to make sure that you dont think or want to run a beta as a gold release.
