  • i still fucking love this video with my whole canadian heart. I miss you.. sometimes.. mainly Tim Hortons.. .. yeah that's about it.

  • OMG ITS SO HORRIBLE o_O

  • The recent snow day that happened was the most overrated snow day. We've had worse weather before, heck we've had an ice storm in '98 (which is actually dangerous) and I still had to go to school! :( lol

  • Is it just me or is the Toronto Mom in the video really hot?

  • Recommended by my instructor when I walked in class late today. 8am class. I left @ 6:40 and got there @ 9...

  • haha that's funny

  • its not cold in canda at all go to siberia.

  • The sad thing is that this is actually so true! Schools were PRE-CLOSING for a storm that never even happened!

  • hhhhhhhhhh, where the army :):):) @ 2:05

  • lol I love this video~ and I was born and raised in Toronto :)

I honestly LOVE the snow. I wish we had more of it where I live. It's so pretty and COLD :D I love the cold as well. -15 is probably my favourite temperature, it's not freezing but its chilly and refreshing.

Saying all people from Toronto are "wimps" is extremely biased. It's not like all Canadians say "EH?" so why would ALL citizens of Toronto be like that?

  • us Torontonians never pronounce Toronto with all its letters the right way to say it is said like Trono.

  • Oh my god I saw it to there was snow! Haha I love this video!

  • Hahhahahahah! this is the most funniest video i have ever seen. this is amazing and made me laugh so hard.

    definatley my favorite!

  • I've been living in Toronto and understand this video, despite toronto always getting snow, the people, the news, the media (to boost rating) make such a big deal about it, as if it was an emergency. It's the most ridiculous thing, people begin to freak out at the sight of snow, drive like retards and gossip about it for the next 2 days like brainwashed media-pawns

  • LOLZ <3 this vid so much...SEND IT TO ALL OF UR FRIENDS!!!!

  • No, no we're not making this up. And... the snow is still here. I actually slipped on a patch of ice tonight.

  • Hay Toronto has the best snow remouvall in the Country, even they clean part of the

drive way, no other place they do that.

  • Yo, morons, if it wasn't for my city, the rest of the country would die, remember, we are the financial and industrial capital of the country, think about that before you slam my city you inbred hicks!!!!!

  • @hanlansboy So I suppose all these people slamming "Toronno" that are from Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa, London, Quebec City, Fredericton, Charlottetown, Halifax & St. John's are all inbred hicks, too, even as they live in cities just as good as -if not better than- yours? Great argument. You just made yourself a prime example of why others love to make fun of Toronto in the first place. Well played.

  • @hanlansboy

One city doesn't fully impact Canada bud, last i checked the lumber and oil industry to the west is more important. Toronto could be wiped off the planet, Canada will recover over time. You make it seem like you run Toronto or something. Yeesh.

  • @hanlansboy Let's put a bubble around Toronto and see who dies first. Toronto needs Canada for the food, energy, and raw materials needed to build and sustain the endless sea of condos and the clueless yuppies that inhabit them. Canada would do just fine without Toronto.

  • LMAO

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha it's sooo true

  • Torontonians are such pussies now.

  • It's so funny the way they put it ... oh I miss the snow since I left Toronto for so many years now ...

  • And then I blacked out

  • It just wouldn't be Toronto without someone complaining about something stupid

  • and he pushed the snow off the windsheild. Thats insane!!!!!!1

  • That is hilarious

  • LMAO!!!!

  • Ahahaah Rick Mercer is one of the funniest people in the world.

  • Lexus SUV and Isotoner gloves lol classic

  • I've worked with Rick in the past and he is just too smart for the house. He is GREAT.

  • Brilliant trauma acting. Just the right wobble in the voice, and the hand over the mouth etc....

  • I thought we had by-laws against this sort of thing. My isotoner gloves are still wet.

I am truly shocked. Where is the army?

  • This is just craziness.. and why wasn't the army here shoveling, 2/2/2011.. we will never forget!

  • o crap the lexus is covered in the driveway omg the world is goin to end ahhhh

  • Call in the army, just let it be and call in the Navy in the spring instead, roflmao

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH

  • -________________- i efing h8 this snow.

  • I fell like my IQ dropped a couple of points....

  • It's happened again. Just like in 2007. It snowed again. Can't the government get this right? How could they let this happen again? Did they not learn anything?

  • What if we get hit again? We can't afford to fall back on a pre-snowfall mentality - we must fight snow over in the Bahamas so that we don't have to fight it over here.

  • The video was fantastic. Most of us are absolutely fine following the storm and should be grateful. It doesn't always turn out that way. We may not always seem hearty to the outside world, but we can laugh at ourselves.

  • I am Toronto snow Survivor LOL!! Ottawa gets way more snow and they don't complain. Oh Toronto got to love this city ^^

  • Tragic. I'll be keeping those families affected by the snow in my thoughts.

  • @hazelmay64 i know its a joke .. thats why i posted it on my facebook . i too was joking ... im here in canada thats why i find it funny... lol

  • I am new to Toronto, and never thought I would be the butt of Toronto jokes- but hey, if the snowshoe fits....

  • so funny

  • LMFAO SNOW DAY TODAY!!!!

  • If there's one thing that brings the country together, it's making fun of Toronto.

  • @mightypotato Even as someone who lives in Toronto, I completely agree.

  • @mightypotato we get snow all of the time WTF

  • @mightypotato If there's anything that brings Toronto together it's making fun of Toronto.

  • LOL

  • LOL

  • get over it softys ... australia is getting a CAT5 cyclone ... oooooh snow in canada thats unheard of... lmao

  • @reefsecretsaquariums I guess you don't recognize satire when you see it. If you understood Canadians, you would know what this meant

  • @reefsecretsaquariums Clearly it's a joke.

  • @reefsecretsaquariums all i can say is that i get a laugh out of the video and the comment u post

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Now I get it. Now I know why Wheel-Trans denied me a bus for tomorrow even though the forcast is for 15 - 20 cm of snow and the storm is to end tonight.

Their rationale, believe it or not, is that the snow plows won't be coming out until tomorrow night - a day after the storm ends.

  • @wheelchairdemon2008 That really sucks, man. Did they end up coming, since there wasn't all that much anyway (at least not in the morning)?

  • @lotrfan8 I can finally answer this one. Yes, they came. I couldn't get them in the morning so I use those expensive taxi's $30 for a trip that would cost a NON-wheelchair user $12 in a regular cab, and then caught Wheel-Trans back to the train.

  • " I pushed the snow off the windsheild.. and I just got in my car, after that I umm... I blacked out"

  • The coolest one about today's blast outside of the outlandish reports of "the storm of the century", is having the very cool "thundersnow" this morning.

  • So kids outside of Toronto DON'T go to Montessori? God bless them

  • Hide yo kids, hide yo wife!

  • Ahhhhhhhhhh motherland!! Well let's see what happens tonight and tomorrow.

  • SNOW IN TORONTO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH NO DONT WIPE THE SNOW OFF! YOU TOCHED IT! HE TOUCHED IT ! OMG RUNNN!

  • lol thats soooo funny but ya we did get a lot of snow for toronto.

  • @ClassicGirl99 - Are you retarded? a lot of snow for toronto? clearly you haven't lived here for very long. You're in Canada, there is snow here every winter. Dumbass.

  • where is the army!?

  • Just thins morning we got a little dusting of snow and B.T. Toronto had "STORM WATCH!!!!!" scrawled across the screen. Happens every year...

  • I was so little when this happend, i can't even remember... must have been terriefing for my parents.

  • True people here complain so much about 3 inches of snow...and they DO release warnings when it's -5....this shit it's funnier if you live in Toronto

  • I am proud to announce that I am a Toronto snow survivor.

  • I survived the toronto snow :'(

  • The quintessence of Toronto...

  • "Call in the army" anybody get why the audience laughed at that more then usual?

    Search your minds..

  • that was sooo funny. i wish we got some snow this year :( it was such a bad winter.

  • Loved it!!!!

Thanks so much for posting this!!

  • its funny because there really are people like this here in Toronto... Don't understand why they choose to live in the great white North! They should go to Winnipeg, its much warmer there! :P

  • Come to Saskatchewan =P and feel the power of real snow

  • it was a joke

  • and that was sarcasm :/

  • This clip makes me laugh EVERY time...I love it!! :))))

  • love it when people try to have Big Ideological Debates over comedy videos.

  • this is halauiors!!!

    its canda people come one!!!

Toronto whiines over teh littiest things!!

    waht about Vancouver?!

  • I live in Toronto and I don't mind snow. It's nothing compared to other parts of the country. Torontonians always complain about the snow! It's Canada, if you don't like the snow, you have to deal with it. I take the bus because I don't come from a rich family so I deal with. Canada is a great country and the snow makes it cool as well.

  • haters :<

  • Its ironic because the Mercer Report is filmed in Toronto. These people are probably all Toronotonians.

  • haha thats funny and its also funny that none of them are from toronto because they pronounced the last "t" which most (if not all) torontonians dont pronounce

  • lol yea i juz noticed XD

  • lmao....

  • LMAO ...ahahahahah ..jokes XD

  • hahahahaha classic :o)

  • Actually Aquafina (Pepsi) was using tap water. They got caught and now they have to label it as tap water.

Watch on google's video section "fluoride deception" if you don't believe me.

  • WERE ALL GOING TO DIE OMG!!!

  • LOL funny. This is one of my favourite TV shows of all time.

  • What the hell is wrong with you all? this i ssupposed to be a video to cheer you all up,this is funny as hell and stop talking Sh!t

  • Wasn't youtube invented for flamewars?

  • @andree1991 i dont remember posting this comment...however it was 2 years ago and saw it by mere coincidence :)

  • I'm a "Torontonian" and I absolutely love this video. Hilarious! We hate the snow here yes and we should be able to make fun of ourselves, Rick Mercer lives here...All this Toronto vs the rest of Canada stuff is BS though. Canada is diverse everywhere and we should be happy to have so many different places to go.

  • Canada is diverse everywhere? By everywhere you mean Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal? Maybe parts of other major cities...

  • No I mean everywhere. Why? Are you from Van, Toronto or Montreal? Do you not think Canada has lots to offer?

  • I thought you were referring to cultural diversity.

Yes yes geographic and natural diversity is certainly the beauty of our nation, but cultural diversity doesn't exist outside of the major cities. If you want the stats they can be posted.

  • Stats hehe, no that's alright. Ya I just meant it has a lot to offer in every way. But yes, if your talking about cultural diversity then the major cities are quite different than the rest of the country. Not that that matters all that much anyway.

  • It does matter though. To disregard the unique character of the population leads to mishandlings of cultural and immigration policy, and even more importantly in my mind causes a rift between the "status quo" white Canada and the rest of the population (which is much greater than the status quo). In turn this impacts media coverage, political action and doing our civic duty as citizens. When large segments of the pop aren't acknowledged it leads to anomie and the shite PC govt we have today.

  • Again, you've got me wrong, this conversation is getting a little silly. Your looking into my original post of "Canada is great" too deep, picking at the words. It's like if you said "I feel good today", then I said "Why, because children are dying in Africa". By saying it doesn't matter I just mean we should get over the race thing, and get along etc...I'm glad you have some moral outrage, I'm not the one you should be convincing. And yes, the PC gov sucks large amounts of ass.

  • I'll just take your comments at face value then, but we can't afford to be complacent, and we must be outraged.

The people get the government they deserve, do we deserve the PC? Do we deserve the coalition? Hell we deserve nothing because we're all lame :P

    Cheers tho

  • theodigital, you obviously haven't visited much of Canada if you believe that cultural diversity is limited to the major cities.

  • Actually I have visited quite a bit of Canada and lets just say the only colour you see outside of the major cities is white, and not from the mountains of snow.

I also work in an industry that does statistics and demographic work, and those statistics paint a telling picture about the diversity of our nation.

  • Cultural diversity doesn't mean non-white. Ukrainian and French for example are pretty different, despite their European roots and fair skinned populations.

Even if we accept your assumption that all Caucasian culture is blandly homogeneous, what about all the First Nations that exist outside the cities? Are their cultures not worthy of the title "diverse"?

  • @theodigital Skin Color came about due to exposure of sun over millions of years. Canada is North therefore dark skin never came about in a evolution stanpoint. The only diversity you will get here is from people moving from a warmer climate to a colder one which is unlikely in most cases.

  • @skaven9er Are you serious? Have you seen the demographic chart of where Torontonians have immigrated from? If not, check it out, then revisit your comments. I'm pretty sure that the mass of Southeast Asians and Chinese migrants all come from warmer climates, as do the people from Southern Europe and the West Indies. Unlikely, actually completely likely and accurate.

  • @theodigital "White" isn't a culture. The colour of someone's skin is the most superficial measure of diversity possible. You will find countless cultures and languages represented across this country. Your comment is akin to me saying "There is no diversity in east Asia because everyone looks Chinese to me." That's ignorant. Your racism blinds you to the cultural diversity that exists. By the way, I grew up in a tiny rural town and I speak three languages. How many do you speak?

  • @lemonrind Looks like you failed your reading comprehension classes in elementary school. Ah well it's to be expected seeing as though you're dumb country bumpkin.

And I speak three languages as well and can tell you to fuck off and learn to read in each of them.

  • nah, canada hates us

  • Oh good. Comments from a person with the IQ of a garden slug ...

  • Toronto is totally misfunded and you should all be very thankful for all us hardworking Torontonians who put so much into the tax system and reap so little of the benefits.

Too bad we are lacking a witty catch phrase "no taxation without represenation" (that would be a good one).

Face it without Toronto you'd all be screwed, there would be no public service jobs in ottawa, no one to market alberta's oil, no one to to compare the lazy hippies in BC to. Oh btw fuck Quebec.

  • hi i know this is really random but... I LIKE PIE LOL

  • I forget the presenter's name, but he's never cracked a smile on any program he's been on - the Fifth Estate, the National, whatever. To see him do this is hilarious.

Me, I've been living without snow for four winters in Asia (ha ha ha...), so I can't imagine how I'd handle it if I ever see it again.

  • its even funnier if u live in toronto

  • after that i...i just got in the car..... after that....... i .....i blacked out lol hahha i love this video!!!!!!

  • East coast peeps are such babies it isn't funny, lol.

  • no, it's not east coast peeps, it's toronto peeps! newfoundland has been dumped with 5 feet of snow a couple of times this winter, but you don't hear them calling the army!

  • Toronto. if you had any idea the level of TRAFFIC & congestion in Toronto...

... the rest of Canada would understand. In one storm, our car was towed... for plowing. Cost $400 to get it back. Was the road plowed? no. Not for 4 days. So, where to put the car? No parking, no roads clear. MILLIONS of people, with no place to get out of the way, or place to make room... & everybody figuring its **all about them**... its freaking hell on wheels.

  • This is fabulous! LOL! Thanks!

  • Whatever all the rest of you Canadians are louts you all wish you lived in Toronto. Can you watch a pro basketball game in Red Deer? Can you get a schwarma in Rimouski? God is there anything in between the Rockies and the Ontario border? Wheat maybe? Bison? Oh yeah and you self righteous BC types that think you're special because you've got the Olympics put down your bongs and think again, notable cities like Sarajevo have had the winter olympics. Bully for you.

  • i love you i love you i love you

  • haha i'm such a dick about Toronto, but really you all wish you lived here.

Thats right all you wankers from lesser cities. Montreal is pretty cool too I must admit but still too many one way streets and cobblestone, oh and they don't have a soccer team (HA HA)

  • typical Toronto attitude...I live in Toronto and glad I don't share your attitude towards the rest of Canada.

  • that's likely because you haven't been to the rest of Canada therefore you can't reflect on how cool and great we actually are.

you may live in Toronto but you don't breathe it

  • Actually I have been to many parts of Canada. I have also lived in cities much larger than Toronto in the world. Trust me Toronto is not all that special...

  • YOU my friend, wish you lived in Ottawa.... Where you don't run the risk of being shot... but can enjoy your shawarma's, and your (real) hockey games, and your dual languages... and like real Canadians, are accustomed to the snow....

  • ha ha REAL CANADIAN shovel snow when it snows in canada you cant see the car espeicaly if its a white car :P bo yeah TORONTO!

  • Bah. We have Lebanese food in Toronto :P

"When I saw my Lexus in the driveway..."

  • I lived in Toronto. And Montreal. And London (the real one in England). I have visited many of the world's great cities. Toronto ranks slightly above Des Moines, but below Cleveland. I only hope you live oput your life there, because if you ever venture to the East Coast, you'll probably die from exposure. Exposure to new ideas. Thank God for Rick Mercer.

  • I love the retarded comments from the worldly traveller.

New ideas from the East coast? Enlighten us? Like what? How to drink beer faster, how to join the armed forces? how to get the hell out of Newfoundland? I've been out there, have family and friends out there and if it was the hotbed of great ideas, the shining light and mecca of enlightened thought why is everyone leaving?

  • You epitomize why the reswt of the country loathes Toronto. Congratulations. We'll send in the army to help you remove snow, and get your head out of your ass.

  • fuck you kaalec, i dont no wat the shit epitomize is but i dont lyk it, by the way GO PITTSPURGH! sid the kid rules

  • loool,funny

Toronto is a big city comparing to the other cities in Canada.

So it makes sense to shut the city down for a small storm b/c it's not that easy to manage...

  • Tell that to the people of Ottawa, whose city is about 80% the size of toronto (I'm talking size, not population). They get more snow, but never shut down the city or call in the army.

  • this happend to me too! it was awful!!!!! lol

  • Thats Hilarious, its so true though. According to the news 3 inches of snow is now a major winter storm, and -5 calls for severe temperature warnings.

  • Okay not true.... more like whats said in the video...20 cm is considered a major storm in toronto...LOL funny but true. and -5 is not considered severe....-20 is.

you see we have more homeless people.

  • Thats is true, but -20 is completely normal for the other 80% of Canada that is actually knows how to deal with winter...

  • hilarious

  • ROFLMAO! Ya gotta luv it!

As a resident of the interior of BC, I say that spoof looks good on 'em!

  • Funny, Funny, Funny. So many don't get it. It's hilarious. A little satirical, but definitely funny.

  • crazy stuff...hehe

  • baaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha this was hilarious! we saw it at work

  • LOLOLOLOL this is sooo funny... ya i always say torontonians need to get used to it, for god's sake they live in CANADA! not california! why does everyone think they live in california these days..

  • its so funny because toronto is like freaking out about and its less snow then other towns haha, i live like an hour away and we have waaay more, it just usually melts in the smog in torontos air thats why they dont get it much lol

  • where's the army! ha ha ha ha. All us TO people got that one I'm sure

  • As well as people from the rest of the country ;)

  • Us here in Moronto never lived that down. I went up to Northern Ontario a few years later, people kept making fun of me about it.

  • Ya me too. Everywhere I go in Canada I goofed on. But I don't think it's because we called the army due to snow (even though it was alot) I just think the rest of Canada hates us.

  • Absolutely truly funny and very Torotonian

I grew up in Thunder Bay so know both sides of the real snow storm.

We did get sent home from work but our daughter still had school in the AM and daycare in the pM.

    :)

  • I don't wanna be that "I remember when" guy but, I remember when I was a kid and there was way more snow every winter in Toronto and no one gave a rat's butt about it. I'd say around the last ten years or so, ever since that huge storm of '96, the media in Toronto has blown the weather news way out of proportion. I don't blame the rest of the country for thinking that we're pansies. Believe me, we know.

  • I'm from Toronto and I can atest, there WAS snow in Toronto. Joking aside, the media tends to blow shit WAAAAAY out of proportion with respect to the weather here. I can remember when there was lots of snow growing up and no one gave a crap. It's this last decade that it's become almost an obsession here. I don't get it.

  • lol what's not to understand? Nothing's happening in Toronto and they need to concentrate on SOMETHING. Might as well be SNOW, haha. Funny city.

  • I love that they got Linden McIntyre to do the Special Report.

  • I'll bet it got down to -10C as well!?!

Did Hell Freeze Over? or Just The Center Of The Universe?

    Thank You RMR & CBC.

    ;)

  • lol wheres the army?

  • lmao

  • LOL hillarious

  • so freaking hillarious!!! lol

  • LOL

  • Well, they are never going to live down calling in the army for snow. Good to see they have a sense of humour about it.
