@mommyideas This is a ski machine. "SlimLine Power Strider". It's actually my third ski machine (I wore out the other two)...they were different brands but I still like the workout I get from them...I tried the "Nordic Track" but never liked that one.
@thintopia I would say that it is a form of HIIT. I think that someone comes up with a new version and calls it their own idea. This one is called "Peak 8" because your heartrate peaks 8 times. I usually still have a lot of energy when I am done so I could probably do it more than 8 rounds. I like it because it is short and sweet and your done (I like to do it after training with weights).
@cotaman08 Covert Bailey, on his PBS-TV Special "Fit or Fat" called these WInd Sprints a few years ago. He said he first trained like this back in high school for his track team. He said the body thinks you are going to keep running at full speed, so it makes more Mitochrondia in the cells & increases the cell's ability to burn fat.
Well done Tom I've been super lazy this past month - it gets dark here so early now that it feels like midnight when I get home from work - agh I'm looking forward to ngu challenge in jan fingers crossed
@queenie1972 It does get dark early..we need the sun for energy! I don't know what Jay has in store for January, but I have a feeling it will be a doozy.
how long do you think it takes for you get the sugar out of your system, before the next round of treats..??LOL You know enough about your body now, that you show confidence that as long as you stay active, you will never go up in weigh for very long. You look great, don't see any signs of sugar disease!
@Bonnie90505 It just feels right to stay totally away from sugar.
It seems like my body tries to go to a certain wt...for a long time it tried to stay at 222, then it was 218...now it returned to 214...I'm headed in the right direction..slow but sure :)
Excellent vid, man! I have an elipital I can used soon as the training room is done. I have actually only done interval training in spinning. Good stuff, tough, but good. I loved how you had the waterbottles lined up =D
Good to see you back. Peak 8 workout...never heard of something like that. Thanks for sharing. I should try something like that with punches or something. Have a great one!
tabata is NO JOKE. no matter what you doing on, treadmill, eleptical, punching bag. anyone that hasn't tried tabata protocol, give it a shot. Honestly, i haven't tabata in so long becuase it is intemidating. Good job
@largetree I think tabata is great; I hope to keep it in my routine now. The good thing is when I get bored of the ski machine, there ARE other options. Right now, the basement is still wet from flood this week so I'm cramped into a small room for now.
@cotaman08 I hear you.. Not sure I'm ready for burpees yet, been sore every day since I started, my body is adjusting. Post it as a response I'm sure she'll approve it.
@cashpath 20 lbs??? WOW. I thought I was doing bad. I was up 11 lbs (now I am up only 4)..The good thing seems to be..if you don't let the weight sit on you, you can take it right back off. If you think it's hard now to maintain, wait till you get to my age..it's a good thing I like a challenge ;)
What kind of equipment were you working out on? If it is a cross country ski machine? If so, what model was it? Thanks!

is Peak like HIIT? I'm reallly looking into do this. I have been just jogging 30-40 minutes but have heard interval training is best for burning fat.

@phatmanwalkin Thanks, rob..the first couple of rounds are tough just until you get loosened up but after that it's smooth sailing...sort of ;)
I always start my workouts (especially cardio) with at least 3 bottles of water handy :)

@cashpath I knew you were back and was pretty sure you were still sticking with, but not 100% sure, so I'm glad you cleared it up ;)
I wanted to do burpees, but the since the basement got flooded, theres not much room upstairs just yet.
Was contemplating posting this as a video response to Jill's video that you hijacked.
