Sorry... I crashed the vid. My wife wanted a Ruger LCR because it was... cute. I tried to convince her otherwise, she wants what she wants. We got her one and she hates it because the recoil hurts her hand. I had to admit it's a sharp recoil and I didn't really like shooting it either. So, I guess I wanted to add to your point that firearm selection *is* really a huge deal, and a little, light gun isn't necessarily a "girl gun". She ended up liking my Springfield XD in .45 ACP.

I like your videos and you excellent trigger control, but thats really good for the range. Have you ever thought about defensive/tactical shooting? Would be nice to see a girl draw fast and use a weapon in a fast and ferious real life application.

Awesome video! When I was in college I would often take girls to the range on dates. I did this mostly to see if they were open to trying new things. Pretty soon girls I didn't even know were asking me to take them shooting just cause their friend had so much fun. Two of them eventually got into local IDPA matches... It was so rewarding to see their faces change when that fear was replaced with a big 'ole grin after they slaughtered a bullseye!

I like shooting guns and other forms of marksmanship because it's kind of a "zen" moment for me. I forget about everything going on in my life and focus on what it takes to hit my target (sight alignment, trigger control, etc.) I also feel a "high" when I hit my target. Also I admire the function and form of certain firearms. The thought of having a projectile sling out of my hands at supersonic speeds is also a rush. The whole defense thing is just an added bonus. (I'm a guy, forgive me please)

@MeLlamoBradly I have the same experience... I call it my "bubble." Everything outside of me and the front sights just disappears. Even others' gun shots just kind of fade out. I love the feel of the recoil back into my arm as the round flies downrange, but it's even more rewarding when the shot hits the 10.

Good video Des, I have taught a lot of ladies to shoot. All that have given it a chance have done very well shooting. Size is not important in shooting. It's training and ability.

Most Woman that I have taught usually do better at first than Men, because they will admit not knowing about shooting.

@xxwes997xx It's a Yugoslavian Zastava Arms M57 (this particular one actually happens to have been made in '57, too). It's one of my favorite handguns to shoot. And, as @Solingen said, it is chambered in the 7.62x25mm Tokarev round, but it has one additional round than the original T33 Tokarev after which it's modeled.

I liked that you mentioned the caliber thing. When you control a gun correctly even ladies sized hands can manage bigger calibers.

I watched. Sorry.....couldn't resist. You make so many valid points. Points valid for us men as well. Especially about the family bonding experience. When I take my kids shooting, ironically, my girls, especially the youngest, seem to enjoy it more than the boy. He's more interested in pulling the trigger than anything else. Every time we go to the range, we always have what I call "gun school". They always get a lesson, whether they like it or not. I try to promote safety while we have fun.

My girlfriend was always nervous of shooting and worried that she shouldn't do it because she had ingrained in her mind that only guys and butch/ hulky woman shot guns. I've been slowly fixing that and getting her out shooting and she always has fun. I love when female shooters on youtube come out with videos like this because it can show her how fun it is to shoot and that attractive women shoot just as much as anyone else. Thanks for the vid!
