  • what am i watching this?

  • Lol, I'm using DDR1

  • @IrvanQadri for shame

  • Comment removed

  • @Witherin1 unoriginal comment this is getting old...

  • thumbs up if you want ''thumbs up if you are watching in 2012'' comments to stop

  • @Arielelda

Thumbs up if you want the thumbs up if you want thumbs up if you are watching in 2012 comments to stop.

Please, just stop asking for thumbs. It's retarded.

  • @ShadowRSonic Then do not ask for thumbs ups if you do not like it XD

  • YES, i watch this now. And now, i wont give you a fucking thumbs up.

  • will 1600Mhz ddr3 8GBs corsair vengeance BLUE memory be supported by the ASUS Sabretooth 67 motherboard?

  • lol @ me watching this in 2012 :L

  • Thumbs up if u are still watching this is 2012!

  • @djn03l is?

  • still have a pc with ddr2 ...

  • @DoomAndBass me 2

  • I'm using DDR666 noobs, get out of the loophole and get back to the future.

  • @alecz92 EDO66 here.

  • i have ddr2 667 2gb...i'm planning to buy ddr2 800 2gb.. should i mix ddr2 667 2gb and ddr2 800 2gb on my motherboard.. PLEASE REPLY!!

  • @xXDMS2k11Xx

Yes you can, and should. Theres no harm in mixing the two. speed up your system with higher clocked ram :)

  • @ashleyLOVEvodka my motherboard is compatible 533/667/800 ram... should i mix 667 ddr2 and 800 ddr2..???

  • @xXDMS2k11Xx wont work

  • @xXDMS2k11Xx yes it works. i have 1GB 667 and 2GB 800. you just have to go to the BIOS and see if it is working at the frequency of the slowest module( in this case 667).

  • @xXDMS2k11Xx

    yup

  • @ashleyLOVEvodka can i use ganged ???

  • @2012HIMO and me too ...

  • Man I'm still stuck in the year 2008. I'm still using DDR2. -_-

  • @n3rdbear and me also

  • I really don't understand what's the point of overclocking when talking about today's frequencies.

  • the porno tune is so wrong

  • Oh, and the mobo I just said is dirt cheap and will fit in literally ALL Atx cases.

  • (to the guy below me, on iPhone so can't reply). Yeah, your going to need a new one. I suggest you get the ASROCK N68-C UCC, it supports AM2, AM2+, AM3, DDR2, DDR3 and can unlock CPU cores (so you can buy a 3 core CPU and UCC it to a 4 core (doesn't work on all of then though)). It's also really easy to overclock on that board. Also bear in mind that only AM3 CPUs can use DDR3 (maybe also AM2+, not sure), but I think the processor you bought is AM3 (if it's Athlon II then your fine I think).

  • Im using an old PC (amd athlon 64 X2 dual core - 2.6 ghz, 2gb ram (DDR2 RAM), Ati radeon 2100...) and i just bought the following because i wanted to upgrade it: AMD athlon X2 255 dual core - 3.1ghz, Radeon HD 6570 1gb, and a piece of DDR3 4gb ram.

and apparently the DDR3 4gb ram doesnt fits where the DDR2 ram goes, in the motherboard...call me stupid but do i probably need to buy a new motherboard that is compatible with DDR3 crap?

    thanks.

  • im currenty running ddr2 1gb with a athlon x2 my pc is a beast.

  • I had 4x1 geil black dragon, but lately i got many bsod, checked everything with memtes... 2 dimms on my motherboard are damaged and 1 of the ram's also have tons of errors, 3 others are fine... Now i think what should I do, because changing motherboard in most cases mean new pc, which i cannot aford right now :\

  • i am currently using 2x2gb ddr2 800mhz

  • Ok now I have dell 530s desktop run ddr2 667 MGz 4gb . Can I upgrade to i7 CPU? And keeping all I have.

  • @MrRaksasok are you crazy ?!?!?!?!?!

    there isnt a i7 mb that has ddr2 --_--'

    everybody now uses ddr3 and ddr2 a 2x2gb kit now cost's about 90$

    while i can get a 2x2gig ddr3 kit for like 30$

  • ah 240p, we meet again...

  • i have desktop run DDR2 4gb but i want to replace to DDR3 , Can i do that ?

  • @MrRaksasok check if your motherboard supports ddr3, it should say it on the motherboard or on a website. if you give me your mother board name ill search it. :C

  • @MrRaksasok Yes But you would need to replace the motherboard and probably the processor as well

  • @MrRaksasok DUDE!! its to tight to replace you ddr3 on your ddr2 motherboard..

  • This dude is a full blow nerd, but those are the guys that know shit. Hahahaha.

  • Linus looks about 12.

  • i loled at the video quality

  • if i want to replace my ddr2 with a ddr3 do i have to buy a new motherboard?

  • @bluegrinder84 depends on the motherboard, look in your manual or online if it supports DDR3

  • thumbs up if ure still watching this in 2011!!

  • @niKCz1 Don't give a fuck ether!

  • @niKCz1 No im watching it in 1934.

  • @niKCz1 2012 actually.

  • @niKCz1 thats so 1 month ago

  • PLEASE re-upload this in 1080p

    please....

  • i still got ddr2 1066 with a quad lol

  • I'm currently running 4GB DDR2 800MHz with an intel Core-2 duo E 6750... My computer is still fast as hell.. I can still play any game maxed out @ 1920x1080.. (Radeon 6950^6970) To be honest, I don't think anyone needs more than the current DDR3 1333. I could benefit from upgraded RAM, but I think my processor is the real bottleneck for me right now. What's crazy is my DDr2 1GB Corsiar XMS2 sticks caost ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS EACH! lol.. Now? 8GB DDR3 1600 for ~$120.

  • @GMOSU22 actually u can get 16GB DDR3 1600 for $100, 16GB DDR3 2133 or 24GB DDR3 1600 both for $150 :)

  • @hl2ep3 lol, God damn it.

  • @GMOSU22 TrY HaRd playing BF3 with that rig the CPu will stuggle

  • @AwesomeFace50 I've been playing BF3 on ultra @1080p for quite a while now. No problems whatsoever. CPU seems to be able to handle it perfectly fine. Been doing pretty well too. I think BF3 requirements have been overstated quite a bit. played through entire campaing, never went below 30 fps, same in multiplayer.

  • Ddr2 ... it's over

  • Haaaaa. So Linus was sporting a Justin Bieber haircut before Bieber did. lol

  • watching this with 18 gigs of ddr3 2000 mhz 9-9-9-24

  • GDDR5 ?

  • I still have DDR2 in my system....

  • Thumbs up if you're watching this in late 2011 and you realize "Uh...my $400 notebook has DDR3"

  • Lol. Early linus

  • No love for DDR SDRAM?

  • RAM seems to be starting to go faster than CPUs!

  • Comment removed

  • >has stock Mobo

    >Medion MS-7616

    >DDR3

    >12gb

    >Win? :P

  • true fans watch at 240p and DONT whine!

  • @AronHallan

actually really true fans are rotating inside ur rig, dude LOL

  • would ram matter for bottlenecks like as in a high end gpu with ddr 2 memory

  • @kerim188887 would you paint your ferrari with a paint brush?

  • This DDR2 1066 is FAAAAAABLOUS!!!!

  • two youtube accounts?

  • damn he looked different here

  • 240 pixels, uggggg

  • They grow up so fast look at him in his first videos talks like a KID and now he has a bke good luck Linus and do something in the 100k subs

  • so 240p we meet again

  • Kan minna litt om Skolekorps. D e ennå mer grovt! ;)

  • Die DDR2! Die Core 2 duo,DDR3 and i7 are here to kick your arses lol :P

  • DDR2 owned DDR3 at that time,But now DDR3 owns DDR2 The Exact opposite

  • If you go to the first page there is a comment of mine there haha

  • Haha high speed 1066... good times!

  • @pktbagpk damn O_o, my RAM is at 1066 MHz

  • It's Linus!!!

  • abowt? is he Canadian?

  • @deathskull77 Yes, Look at ncix website, it has a canadian flag in the logo

  • Back when Intel Core 2 Duo was the best....

  • @TheGuessWhatTech hay ive still got that but ive added decent graphic cards and ram ( 6 gig

  • @TheGuessWhatTech

yes Granpa told me about these XD

  • @TheGuessWhatTech

What is Corde 2 Duo? I have Intel i7

  • @matrixiux Two independent processor cores in one physical package run at the same frequency, and share up to 6 MB of

L2 cache as well as up to a 1333 MHz3 Front Side Bus, for parallel computing.

  • @Declineable it was a joke... i guess u didnt get it.

  • @matrixiux is that a serious question?

  • Is it just me or does he look different.

  • what a technological difference in 3 years

  • i have to search for klotes comment..

  • 240p we meet again

  • @amvoverwizzle oh man you made me shoot milk out my nose. :D freaking 240p has it in for us!

  • @zume lol

  • is there a big difference betweeen 1300 and 1600 ??????

  • @MRIHATEHIPSTERS Yes..

  • he speak's the truth!

  • Well an AMD PHENOM II X3 be DDR3?

  • @LoftyProduction If your motherboard supports it.

  • wheres the 1080p WTF...jk =D

  • Linus?:O:D

  • Great video.

  • dance dance revolution 2,3...

  • really like these vintage videos

  • Lay-ten-see

  • dam it i want one of those 790 mobo's cause they dont sell them on new egg any mores

  • ddr99 vs simm ram

    which is faster??

  • times when youtube doesent support HD :P

  • sham wow

  • good old school 790i sli may it rest in peace :( was a good motherboard back in the day and it always will be

  • ddr3 is well better than ddr2 you noob

  • @tanaii1 Nice arguments, bro.

  • Well this is just stupid, DDR3 owns DDR2 in any way.

  • Welcome to the future.

  • bla bla bla

  • Stupid Camera Man!

  • Why does this video feel so old? It's was made in 2008, but it feels like 10 years ago.

  • Comment removed

  • @HeadouCompany Be happy with what you got some of us don't even have that. ~_~

  • @miro995 you comment off topic !

  • @HeadouCompany Your comment makes no sense! You went off topic as well... This video is talking about RAM! NOT Processors! You see but you used a reply button on someones comment like I did so its not off topic at all its just commenting to your Topic. Besides that you went off topic anyhow this video talks about Ram not Processors.

  • @esca8652

because computers evolved much more in this last 2 years, then the last 5 or 10 years.

  • @jmpatinhas15 U can play all new games with 5 years old CPU, 3 years old GPU and DDR2 memory :D I dont see big evolution :D

  • @XSpaceStormX compare a 10 year old graphics card with a 5 year old and an actual graphics card

  • @XSpaceStormX Ur really retarded, with that stuff u won't be able to do shit, not even starting black ops.

  • @xXNightmareXxPRRP Crysis 2 on 1920x1080 resolution on advanced with amd athlon x2 from 2006 and old cards like gtx 260 or even 9600gt/8800gt runs fine. Also DDR2 memory can run everything, but of course its better to have DDR3 mostly because its new and much cheaper than DDR2.

  • @nidzaPFC

ddr3 is not cheaper than ddr2

  • @boomguy12345 Yes it is you tool.

  • @hereschester

no it isn't, it's old and outdated

  • @boomguy12345

It is more expensive because it is old. no-one makes it much now, so it costs more.

you can buy 8gb DDR3 cheaper than you can get 256mb DDR

  • @hereschester

i can find cheaper sticks of ddr2 on ebay than of ddr3

  • @boomguy12345

    Used, yes.

  • @esca8652 240p :D

  • @esca8652 It's called Moore's law.

  • @esca8652 Videos with 10 pixels generally feel 10 years old

  • @esca8652 rerendered........

  • @esca8652 It's the haircut.

  • @esca8652 Cuz the guy is 10 Years Old.

  • the 2 boards can be diferent right?Lets say if I want 1 kingston and one A-data I can put them 2 on my motherboard righ?

  • @pacccv yes just not in a dual channel configuration

  • Hagan uno en español

  • Premium boards lmao xD

  • /b/ brought me here.

  • can my intel e2200 dual core processor can be match with drr3 memory?tnx

  • 0:51 I used to own that kit! :-D

  • He didn't mention that DDR2 memory has lower cas latencies, which is good! lower is good!

  • @TearsOfWar1 yea do me a favor stop talking crap lower is better ?? only if have a crap Chipset also having a lower cach dont mean nothing when the clock speeds on ddr 2 are like half of ddr 3 well done your a idiot with a crap pc trying to tell yourself its good when clearly its not lmao

  • @ikameozero Look up Cas latency dumb fuck then compare DDR2 to DDR3 based on that.

  • @TearsOfWar1 " 'Modern DRAM modules' CAS latencies are specified in clock ticks instead of time, when comparing latencies at different clock speeds, latencies must be translated into actual times to make a fair comparison; a higher numerical CAS latency may still be a shorter real-time latency if the clock is faster."

    Continued VV lol

  • @jmlinde For some reason youtube did not feel like showing your messages in my inbox...

  • @TearsOfWar1

So if you compare Corsair ddr3 1600 xms3 with a clockspeed of 800mhz and a cas latency of 9 with corsair ddr2 800 xms2 which has a clock speed of 400mhz and a cas latency of 5. The frequency of the ddr3 is doubled. So in order for the ddr2 to have lower real-time latency the cas would have to be 4.5. I know you can find lower cas ddr2 (ddr3 too), VVV Continued again VVV

  • @jmlinde DDR2 can go up to 1066 man, so be fair and use 1066 DDR2, or else it's kinda backhanded.

  • @jmlinde DDR2 wait never mind, I looked over the fact that you used the same frequency of both.

  • @TearsOfWar1

but here for the sake of the argument I compared one kit with a previous generation kit. The gap is small but it exists (ddr3 is faster). The main reason DDR3 is better is lower voltage and therefore lower heat output.

So you are completely right a lower CAS latency is desirable, but not in clock cycles, you have to calculate real time latency. And you can argue that certain DDR2 Kits(high end) are better than certain DDR3 Kits(lowend) Continued..... again

  • @jmlinde Ever know that DDR2 can actually run in 4 channel mode? Just look at the older generation of Mac pro. DDR3 doesn't, at least I am not aware of.

  • @TearsOfWar1 So lets compare apples to apples instead of apples to oranges...... dumb fuck

  • @jmlinde Actually DDR2 is faster than DDR3 memory up to a certain frequency. I think after 1600+ it catches up, also depending on the quality of the RAM, that goes for both DDR2 and DDR3. I have 4gb of DDR3 RAM running at 2000, running at default of 9-10-9-28 timings and at 1.65V. DDR2 can go up to 1066 with MUCH lower timings and cas latency, I am not sure which one would win.

  • @TearsOfWar1 I need some help please, how do i find out what ddr ram do i have. Also i have 4 memory slots which 2 of them are already used with 1gb each one. But the 2 other free slots won't fit the type of Ram i already have on the other slots. Does this mean that they are with different ddr ? Please answer, thanks

  • @jmlinde Anyone can compare apples to oranges.

  • DAMN YO THIS SHIT OLD!

  • Will my Dell Precision 380 support DDR 2 800 or 1066 Chips ... It uses DDR 2 667 Chips now ... Is there such a thing as Memory Stepping ??? ... Thanks ... Plus can I upgrade it from a Pentium 4 HT 800 Mhz FSB to Core 2 Quad with 1066 FSB , I know it can support 1066 FSB ...

  • haha damn linus looks different o.o

  • nov ve use DDR5

  • @infbajuk only on gpu's he's on about system memory

  • il me casse les oreilles lui quand il parle !

  • I hate nvidia chipsets.....

  • errr, the last time two Ram standards was the old 36 pin ram, and 72 pin ran, where you used an adapter to put 36 pin ram into 72 pin ram slots... and that was back in the 386 / 486 era.

  • 8 months after this video was posted DDR3 prices crashed...but there's insane DDR2 ...
