you know if you really want to do this and you feel you are a good swimmer i can advise you..

Firstly a lot of the swims are relays with 4 or so swimmers...

they each swim in turn for exactly one hour in strict rotation!! you could try that to start with, but Alex.... a solo swim is something else..

More people have climbed Everest than have swum the channel...
