ok so they are older in this story and don't have purity rings (obviously, lol). so like nick is 18, joe is 21 and kevin (he'll be in the next chapter) is like 23. so alley is only 1 yr older than nick, got it? :] and joe is dating demi but loves alley, and demi knows this, but she tries not to let her jealousy show. i am not spoiling anything ita all in the previous chapters. the next chapter will explain it in more depth.
