I played timps in Britten's "Peter Grimes" recently - the Passacaglia has a 5-note theme: f d B c F F. I tried it with 5 drums and 4 drums (pedalling between the B and c) - couldn't decide which was "best", security of pitch with 5 drums, or ease of sticking/damping with 4 drums. Any suggestions?
jeez in my band at school i play only three and i thought that was tough. cant imagine what it must fell like to play that many drums at once. You practically have to dance around just to reach them. O_O
I actually have a recording of this piece!!!!!
