@DeadRokstar They make sense gramatically (just), but are pretty rambling and unprofound. Believe me I've taken alot of time listening to them, must be hundreds of hours! Maybe I should be entitled to my opinions of his music, be they negative or positive. Note I did appreciate the positive aspects being the good quality music, however negative aspects being average to poor lyrics.
@bluejeckett 'bollox' you say? Like DeadRokstar, I'd say your ears are dead to the truth of the world. Time, Place, Context, Knowledge, Understanding and more, Change, but God's Just Truth Is Constant; always Perfectly Accounting for Every Individuals, Time, Place, Context, Knowledge, Understanding and more. And Paul Simon's lyrics
reflect that Truth...to 'Those with Hearing Ears'.
@bluejeckett "Bollox lol", "Pigs arse lol"...and you think you should judge the talents of gifted word-smiths? sds...that's 'sad deep sigh'...at just how low in character, so many seek to be, now, when we need to exercise the very best character. But I won't bore you with why...pigs posterior, ear, silk purse, pearls and all that.
what i love about this song is that it's poppy, fusiony, light, listenable--and the lyrics are still terrific, not mindless fluff---in other words, what pop should be!!
im not getting insulting, im just expressing my own opinion. if i wanted to get insulting then i can. you cant tell me what not write! have you heard of freedom of speech?
Bob Dylan was a poet who used music so that people would listen, it is not correct or propper to damn him entierly. Sure have your own opinion...infact I positively encourage it but your comment is rash and uneeded; simply spreading negativity and bad will is not nice. Sure you can think that and thats fine but do not be so quick to preach it sir, it is not your place nor anyone elses.
@davidsan01 lol i guess u were never around when bob dylan made his music. Paul simons good hell hes amazing but theres no like that people like jhonny cash bob dylan and so many more led the ground work they made a type of music during a time when it was unheard off.
LOL. All these lyrics are a metaphor for Paul Simon's personal epiphany... on his discovery of the beauty and power in african music and culture. "Graceland".. bless him.
paul did capitalise, but at the same time exposed a whole style of music to the world, a part of the world with a highly politically charged vibe... his lyrics are great too. I'm southern african and love this regardless

Paul Simon essentially talks crap in all his songs. Good tunes but sort out your lyrics man you're blabbering tripe.

@JonLexy I disagree with you, sir. But i'll defend to the death your right to say it. MT
JayGOS117 9 months ago
@JonLexy I have to agree with JonLexy. Paul Simon's music and lyrics
'speak' many layers of profoundly deep meaning, way over the heads
of the most 'educated'...kinda like 'The Bible', the 'seeming' contradictions
are the keys to true understanding, that stays relevant over time and place,
only needing a whole, seeking, heart to unlock it.

Most of the music is African and from South African group Lady Black Smith Mambazo. This is typical township music. Simon just capitalised on it.
