For all those who always have something to say about mariah lip singing, she never ever lipped until she developed nodes on her vocal chords. But even now sometimed you think she is lipping but she is not because it been said by numerous producers, babyface being one of them that her voice is just so smooth and effortless I looks like shes not even singing. But she does sometime like I said due to the nodes on her vocal chord from all of the belting and whistling she did early on in her career.

Mariah's ABC Christmas special was good, but that still doesn't justify all the excessive lipping she has done before and after that. For me, Mariah wins. They are both incredibly talented and i cannot deny that I admire Christina's voice :) But back then Mariah's voice was simply untouchable. @26801997 Yes, "Anytime You Need a Friend" is more difficult than "Hurt", that doesn't mean Aguilera didn't do as amazing with her song as Carey did. I compared them to point out Aguilera is vocally consistent and more reliable even when compared to Carey's prime years. For all those who always have something to say about mariah lip singing, she never ever lipped until she developed nodes on her vocal chords. But even now sometimed you think she is lipping but she is not because it been said by numerous producers, babyface being one of them that her voice is just so smooth and effortless I looks like shes not even singing. Aguilera's lip syncs can be counted with the fingers of your hand, while Mariah's are counted with 10 hands or more, that's the extreme level of fraudulent lipping Mariah has done since 1996-2012, and I'm not talking about writing or producing.

For me, Mariah wins. They are both incredibly talented and i cannot deny that I admire Christina's voice :) But back then Mariah's voice was simply untouchable. And considering that was 1994, which was not a good year for her voice even though it was in her prime, it was amazing! Christina is better live now but from 1990 to 1996, Mariah showed she was the most gifted singer the world has seen.

Aguilera can hit and sustain a C5 nowadays, but she sometimes strains on them cause of her poor technique, not because of a serious vocal problem like Carey has, and her whispering got worst after 2000, in her prime years she never whispered or lipped as much as today.
