Why do schools even bother running these "0 tolerance" and "no bullying" campaigns? All ppl do is laugh at them and go on with there mockery of other innocent children. Plus, they don't even follow through with them. I was sitting in calss and I heard someone calling sombody else a gayhole and all the teacher did was say "hey, thats not nice".

Bullying sucks, no one deserves that, but those people should have gotten help gone to counseling cuz I get mad at the world, I think most people suck, but when you SERIOUSLY wanna hurt people thats not good :/ I hate seeing that happen to people.

the problem is they rarely have access to counselling. if you say "I'm thinking of hurting myself", they send you to counselling. but if you say "I'm thinking of hurting other people", all they do is send you to jail. it's a serious problem

Someone at my school started a rumor that I wrote a hit list, and I actually got brought into the police room to be questioned, and they told me if I feel like hurting other people, then I should talk to the school's social worker.... So that's not necessarily true, they can't put you in jail until you've committed a crime.

I don't think the NIU guy was a product of torment. He didn't even know the kids in that class. He didn't go to NIU anymore and those were freshmen. But I agree that some of the influence in a lot of cases is from the torment of bullying.

I fucking hate the logic of "oh, kids will be kids, they're just teasing and having fun, get a thicker skin, it'll make you stronger" when it comes to bullying. In adult speak, that either means "They can get away with it becaue they're popular and rich" or "screw off, I'm trying to read the paper and can't be bothered to do my job of making sure students behave accordingly". Both are equally shitty.

I doubt Eric and Dylan did that because they were bullied. I've read their diaries (like it sounds like you have), and I thought it was pretty clear that they had god complexes. They thought they were Übermensch.

I think they killed for the same reasons that Leopold and Loeb killed (and they were wealthy and popular!).

But, yeah, I know how it is. I think I dealt with bullying by just ignoring it - though I realize that isn't possible for everybody.

Admittedly it has been several years since I read through their diaries, but I'm pretty sure I remember them talking a lot about how people are going to remember them - I think it was Dylan, but I could be wrong, They thought they could pull off this perfect plan... and, of course, their actual plan got pretty fucked.
