  • Thank you very much !

  • To keep the kick at this tempo and maintain good balance, practice with ankle weights with a click track & start slow.

  • No doubt about it, the man that change my life! East Los!

  • I didn't know Steve play samba 2, it's really hard to keep the kick at this tempo, sounds good I'd hire him for a gig or two. Larry Goldings is amazing too.

    Nice video.

  • Not only Steve Gadd is amazing but I love that jazz organ too!

  • NUNCA SERÃO3

  • caraio como eles soam bem

  • Well said Markira

  • try just playing the bass drum part at this tempo for the duration of the tune

  • saying musicians playing a style of music are bad because they don't sound like the musicians from the music's home county... that's redneck, no matter where ur from... 0.o

  • Just really great drumming. Pure and simple.

  • best drummer in my opinion

  • Steve Gadd need to come more often to Brazil

yes this is one of the best in the world. please listen!

    His name is Marcio Bahia

  • Steve Gadd need to come more often to Brazil

  • With all respect, they are extraordinary musicians, but to play well to Brazilian music, they will have to study more!

  • @albertogambirasio

you're right, nothing to say to their performance except that some brazilian groove is missed, you can easily understand that they're not from Brazil...

  • B3? Isn't that a C3?

  • TERRIBLE!!!

    joão gilberto s2

  • At a point ... you have the groove or you dont. And god this man has it.

  • Nunca serão ! /2

  • NUNCA SERÃO

  • steve gadd is one of the few great drummers of all times that can really get the right feel of south american native rythms

  • @ jazzykindaguy:

'Larry Goldings "IN" the Hammond Organ B3'

Ha ha, that pretty much sums it up ;-)

  • Fantastic!

  • Just love that signature way Gadd gives back the "1".

  • steve kinda looks like a white fred sanford

  • omg this dvd was AMAZZIIINNGG!!!!

  • άντε και γαμήσου.... και εσύ κι ο άλλος

  • Greatest groover to ever walk the face of the earth.

  • man, i can play drums better than this cat!

  • hah, just kidding, i don't play drums, just wanted to do a youtube-styled post. gadd is a hard one to touch, peart and weckl are good, personally i think he's on a different level than those cats, just depends on what you like - nobody is really better than anybody else. bill bruford is one of my favorite drummers i like his 'voice' on the instrument, his quirky british approach appeals to me since i am quirky. gary husband's work on holdsworth's iou is one of my favorite drum albums...

  • @jamesedwardtheobald Good stuff. I like all those guys. While I agree that taste, genre and other things enter into it, I must disagree with one statement you made. Some are better than others. Everyone you mentioned is better than I am.

So I gotta go practice now!

    :]

  • @dangerics heh. lol! thanks for the good laugh, made my day!

  • Neil Peart , is the greatest , enough said .

  • @MultiBOOM101 I guess there's alot of drummers you haven't seen.

  • @7298lr

Zac Farro, Travis Barker, and Neil Peart.

  • Left hand keyboard bass aint sittin the groove. Poor Steve

  • steve gadd makes you want to shake your ASS

  • terrible... original is better

  • @ThehardCore89:Yes Dave Weckl is also an incredible drummer in every kind of way no doubt about that! He aint just my kind of drummer, not so groovy like Steve Gadd or how Jeff Porcaro was if you ask me.

  • awesome

  • all done with brushes as well....nice

  • Meeting him next week!!!

  • horrivel parece uma rumba

  • BESTTTTTTTTTT

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

    swing alemão.

  • Haha, so many comments glorifying Steve Gadd and none showing love for Larry Goldings!? Blasphemy. Larry is sickkk.

  • @doenen YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • who needs a band when you've got Steve Gadd...

  • la raja

  • yeah steve gadd is the best drummer and eric clapton is the best "blues" guitar player and "modern drummer" its a magazine about drums LOL LOL

  • brilliant,brilliant,brilliant....

    Me gusta Mucho!!!

    Vivaa Bossa Novaaaaaaaaaa!!

  • gadd the legend, goldings hidden talent, remember folks thats duo...

  • I saw Steve at a drum clinic in SLC many years ago. He talked about starting drumming like driving slow then driving with every one else then in the fast lane then eventually against oncoming trafic. You can hear that in this performance. I was also lucky enough to head to a jazz club after the clinic with him and my dad and the music store owner. It was incredible seeing him take the stage for a couple tunes.

  • affirmative

  • Sweeeet

  • some times Goldings is out of tempo....

  • Thats called jazz LOL!!!

  • too fast-doesn't make any sence at this tempo-it's a love song!

  • Works just fine, no lyrics, it's a brilliant reworking, very musical.

  • apparently youve never screwed fast....

  • Comment removed

  • Very NICE!

  • Gadd's proven himself again and again ... and again. He's the all-around master drummer of today. Enjoy what he does - we're lucky to be able to check it out!

  • great>_>

  • fantastic drumer BUT when comes down to samba and bossa nova, better hand over to the brazilians authorities.

  • I agree. For example, Dave Weckl, its a BIG drummer, he founded a new scool, in my opinion, but, when he tries to play samba, its ridiculous...

  • Larry Goldings is a very good player, Steve Gadd too, but he dont know how to play brazilian music, he tries to do salsa, disco, starts soloing... nothing that he tries works good! So it becames very boring... he should meet Milton Banana.

  • andre, you're an idiot

  • Thank you! I'm a idiot who knows how to play samba! Steve Gadd dont!

  • it's bossa nova

  • I'm a big fan of Steve, but he dont play well bossa nova, samba, or other brazilian stuff. Nobody is perfect! I dont like his performance in this particular video, cause I know Milton Banana, Edison Machado and Wilson das Neves, masters of this style. He dont "hit the road"! I like him playing 70's funk and disco, he is the master!

  • I like a lot milton banana's drumming style, but I think steve gadd does get a good groove going on when he plays brazilian music as well as disco.

  • Ok, Its a matter of taste... I repeat: "On THIS PARTICULAR video, I dont think he is giving his best...

  • Gadd is a musician who plays drums.

  • super geile nummer- wow

  • all those organ-drums duos i heard in working men's clubs in the 70s and 80s... none of them sounded this bloody good!

    feel kinda cheated!

  • Steve Gadd is THE MAN no doubt about that! He plays absolutely everything, my favorite drummer!

  • @74drums He's GREAT but maan... what about Dave Weckl? He plays anything too and he's got a perfect touch

  • @TheHardCore89 yeah, but it's not as..........feely as gadd. it's just something about him. the drum world has given up trying to analyse it so don't start XD.

  • He's like a diesel tractor in the field. He just keeps moving over everything, all at the same methodical speed.

  • Steve Gadd awesome, and Larry Goldings, maybe number one in the world at Hammond organ.

  • he's awsome!!

  • Steve Gadd doesn't merely find the groove. He plows the groove, paves it, and takes sole ownership!

Because there are and have been so many great drummers it's silly to try to say this drummer or that is the greatest.

Having said that, if some zealous fan made such a claim about Steve Gadd, I may not embrace the claim, but I'd sure as hell understand it!

  • @MarkIra613 Excellent comment.

Steve Gadd's grooves are like lullabies. Except you couldn't sleep to them because you'd want to stay awake and listen.

  • @MarkIra613

Steve exhibits great feel and nuance.

I repeat myself often but guys who do just 'tricks', quickly become irrelevant. Those who change the coarse of music have impact. Probably because people have an emotional attachment to music, not an intellectual one. I could take dozens of drummers as examples who are technically proficient but emotionally vacuous.

People who bag Gadd are philistines.

  • MONSTER solo by Gadd (as usual)

  • isso não é bossa isso eh funk

  • eu lembro de um velho no mercado de Ipanema que tocava samba drums verdadeiro . SSSSSSSShhhhhhhhh don't tell anybody. This drummer is good but nothing to do with the velho de Ipanema or Milton Banana

  • like everything he plays, perfect

  • I'm sort of a metal head and this is still some of the coolest shit Iv ever heard...

    Magnificent!

  • awesome

  • Gadd can come out of any hole. He can make anything sound 'right', even if its supposed to be 'wrong'.

A level of psychic maturity where everything is turned into music.

  • I'd heard this guy on the album 'Kickin the B3' and thought I'd look him up. Absolutely top notch organ playing, not too fancy and a lovely B3 sound. Gonna have to get me some albums.

  • You want "Whatever It Takes." The always-awesome Bill Stewart on drums, and special appearances by Joshua Redmond, David Sanborn, and Fred Wesley. Delicious.

  • absolute quality....

  • 2:13, fuck i like that groove.

  • Great video post. Excellent.

  • pure greatness ! thanks a lot for posting :)
